Proton, Touch 'n Go team up to equip new X50 with RFID
KUALA LUMPUR: Proton Holdings Bhd has entered into a strategic partnership with Touch 'n Go Sdn Bhd to integrate Touch 'n Go RFID technology into the all-new Proton X50.
In a joint statement, both parties said this collaboration, formalised through a memorandum of understanding (MoU), marks a significant milestone in advancing Malaysia's connected mobility ecosystem.
Under the agreement, each new Proton X50 will be pre-fitted with a Touch 'n Go RFID tag at the production line, enabling seamless access to Malaysia's extensive RFID-enabled highway network.
Touch 'n Go chief executive officer Praba Sangarajoo said as two proud homegrown Malaysian companies, this partnership is a celebration of what's possible when local champions work together.
Sangarajoo said it is a move driven by purpose to create more seamless experiences for its customers.
"You drive your new Proton X50 off the showroom floor with RFID already installed, — just like that. This is not just about smarter mobility; it is about bringing real value and delight into everyday journeys," he said.
Aside from the Proton X50, there is scope to extend the partnership between the two companies to other models in the Proton range, to offer buyers of other models the same seamless driving experience.
"With other launches in our pipeline, Proton is looking to extend the fitment of Touch 'n Go RFID tags to other models to offer an improved level of convenience to our customers.
"Our aim is to improve the level of customer satisfaction, and we think this is one of the steps we can consider towards achieving that goal," added Proton Edar deputy chief executive officer Zhang Qiang.
