Our collective duty to keep the environment clean: Haryana CM
Haryana chief minister Nayab Singh Saini on Thursday urged the people to plant a tree as a step towards environmental conservation and green future on the occasion of World Environment Day. While addressing the gathering in Charkhi Dadri, the chief minister urged the state's residents to take a pledge to stop using plastic with an aim of making the state plastic -free. He launched the second phase of the 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam campaign', and the green Aravalli action plan, and the Miyawaki Plantation Campaign. He also flagged -off five electric buses in a push towards making state pollution free. 'As we honour the mother, who gives us birth, we also show the same honour to mother earth. The green Aravalli action plan, which was kicked-off with an aim to rejuvenate and green the Aravalli region, will include five districts of Haryana out of 29 districts across the country,' the CM added. The chief minister said that plastic pollution is causing significant harm to the environment, and its effects will pose serious risks to future generations. 'It is our collective responsibility to keep the environment clean. The state government is focusing on creating a plastic-free natural environment and is implementing various measures to eliminate plastic pollution. The state government had already imposed a ban on single-use plastic. Plastic bags below 120 microns have also been prohibited as part of the broader strategy to reduce plastic waste,' he added. Saini said that the state government is committed in its 'Sankalp Patra' to provide 375 electric buses across 11 municipal corporations across the state. 'Nearly 45 electric buses have already been deployed under the city bus service across nine cities. Around 450 more electric buses will be procured under the Pradhan Mantri E-Bus Seva Yojana by 2026 and will be integrated into the roadways fleet. These buses will be allocated to cities including Gurugram, Faridabad, Panipat, Yamuna Nagar, Rohtak and Hisar,' he added. He further said that as many as 5,250 eco clubs have been established across all districts in Haryana. 'We are planning to create Oxyvan, green spaces ranging from five to 100 acres, at district headquarters across the state. An Oxyvan was successfully established in Karnal last year, and work is currently underway in Panchkula,' he added. The CM said that the government aims to have around 30% of the roadways fleet composed of electric buses. This initiative will significantly reduce diesel consumption and curb air pollution.

100 Days Of Govt: BJP To Highlight Welfare Plans
New Delhi: The current BJP dispensation has listed a number of welfare schemes as its achievements in a document, which is likely to be launched on Saturday as the govt's achievements in 100 days in office. Among the highlights are its presentation of a Rs 1 lakh crore budget for 2025-26, which is the highest ever. According to officials, chief minister Rekha Gupta has asked her council of ministers — Parvesh Verma, Ashish Sood, Manjinder Singh Sirsa, Pankaj Kumar Singh, Kapil Mishra and Ravindra Indraj Singh — to compile the list of work done in the last three months in their respective departments and share it with her to turn it into a report card. "All ministers have submitted the list of substantial work done in the departments they are in charge of. The CM too has compiled a similar list," an official said. The officials added that most of the work started in the last three months were promised in BJP's Sankalp Patra or election manifesto. The rolling out of the Ayushman Bharat health scheme, a monthly honorarium of Rs 2,500 for poor women, cleaning the Yamuna, and tabling the CAG reports pending for the last few years, were among the several promises BJP had made. "We are also trying to make this govt connect with the people of Delhi. The chief minister has the jan sunwai programme at her camp office every morning to listen to people's grievances. Similarly, every district will now have a jan sunwai programme every Saturday," a close aide of the chief minister said. "The CM has also held seven cabinet meetings so far to approve the initiative for the development of the city and frequently visited schools and hospitals apart from roads and drains for inspection," he added.

1 2 3 4 Guwahati: Assam BJP unveiled its 'Sankalp Patra', a 15-point manifesto for the upcoming panchayat elections scheduled for May 2 and 7. The document outlines plans for comprehensive optical fibre networks to provide high-speed internet connectivity throughout Assam's villages. The party committed to accelerating financial assistance for farmers who suffer crop losses of 33% or more due to natural calamities. The manifesto features educational initiatives, including a Rs 300 monthly allowance for Class X board examination students. Evening study centres will be established in villages, with local educated youth conducting specialised classes for Class X board candidates. "These classes will run for about five months from Oct for the benefit of the Class X board examinees," stated CM Himanta Biswa Sarma, noting that he drew inspiration from night schools operated by an NGO in Jharkhand during his visit last year. The manifesto promises Rs 2 lakh each to 5,000 youths per constituency over five years through the Chief Minister's Atmanirbhar Asom Abhijan. Other commitments include competitive exam preparation support, additional cooking gas cylinder subsidies, enhanced road and health services in tea garden areas, and funds for renovating 10 more religious sites in each village panchayat.
