Although no longer throwing to DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett, Smith believes he gets to work with the second coming of Santana Moss in the form of third-year wideout Tre Tucker. Tucker, who was third on the team with 539 receiving yards in 2024, has apparently impressed Smith in training camp. Smith called his new receiver a 'spitting image of Santana Moss,' according to Underdog NFL on X, formerly Twitter. There are a lot of factors that go into comparing a receiver with 870 career receiving yards to a former All-Pro like Moss that raised eyebrows. However, many forget that Moss did not get off to the best start to his career, accumulating just 470 receiving yards in his first two seasons. Perhaps Tucker has a chance to live up to Smith's lofty expectations of him with a breakout 2025 campaign. The Raiders return two 1,000-yard receivers from the 2024 season: Brock Bowers and Jakobi Meyers. Smith, however, seems to have the strongest connection with Tucker. There is no reason to believe that Tucker will suddenly emerge as the team's top wideout, but the two have nonetheless appeared to form a bond over the offseason. Raiders' receivers seek improved numbers in 2025 The Raiders return their top-three leading receivers from the 2024 season — Brock Bowers, Jakobi Meyers and Tre Tucker — and expect an even bigger year in 2025. Their acquisition of Geno Smith, whom they acquired in an offseason trade with the Seattle Seahawks, is the biggest factor in the team's confidence. Since his re-emergence with the Seahawks in 2022, Smith has established himself as a starter in the NFL. Despite his rocky up-and-down year in 2024, he is coming off a career-high 4,320-yard season. His presence under center is a substantial upgrade from the horrid play Las Vegas dealt with between Gardner Minshew II, Aidan O'Connell and Desmond Ridder. The Raiders also made notable upgrades to their receiving room in the 2025 NFL Draft. Following a quiet free-agency period, Las Vegas added intriguing rookie prospect Jack Bech and Dont'e Thornton. Both young wideouts are expected to have an immediate role in Pete Carroll's offense. Commanders to induct legendary wide receiver Santana Moss into Ring of Fame
A big surprise for Tana to end today's live show 💛 Before Terry McLaurin in Washington, there was Santana Moss. Criminally underrated, model citizen, beloved by teammates, coaches, and fans, not a diva, and never having sustained quality quarterback play. Now, the team is honoring Moss. Moss, who works for the team's broadcast crew, was surprised by fellow broadcast partner and team legend Brian Mitchell. During Washington's Week 1 game against the New York Giants, the Commanders will induct Moss into the franchise's Ring of Fame. Here's Moss learning the news from Mitchell: A first-round pick of the New York Jets in the 2001 NFL draft, the Redskins traded disgruntled wide receiver Laveranues Coles to the Jets for Moss ahead of the 2005 season. Coles initially began his career with the Jets, but signed with Washington as a free agent in 2003. He was unhappy in Joe Gibbs' offense and wanted out. Washington then made one of the best trades in franchise history, sending Coles to the Jets in a straight-up deal for Moss. In only his second game for the Redskins, Moss caught two late fourth-quarter touchdowns to shock the Dallas Cowboys on Monday Night Football. His legendary status with the franchise was already cemented. Moss would play 10 seasons in the burgundy and gold, catching 581 passes for 7,867 yards and 47 touchdowns. He finished his 14-year NFL career with 732 receptions, 10,283 yards and 66 touchdowns. Congratulations to Santana Moss!

Commanders inducting Santana Moss into Ring of Fame
July 27 - The Washington Commanders will induct wide receiver Santana Moss into the franchise's Ring of Fame during the Sept. 7 season opener against the New York Giants, the team announced Sunday. Moss played the last 10 seasons (2005-14) of his NFL career with Washington following four seasons with the New York Jets (2001-04). He ranks third in Washington franchise history in career catches (581), fourth in receiving yards (7,867) and seventh in touchdown receptions (47). Moss made his lone Pro Bowl in his first year in the nation's capital, catching 84 passes for a career-high 1,483 yards and nine TDs. His yardage total remains the Washington single-season record. The Commanders surprised Moss, 46, during a live broadcast with the team at training camp in Ashburn, Va. He was surrounded by friends and family members wearing burgundy caps with "MOSS" on the front and his jersey No. 89 on the sides. "Normally, I am so nonchalant," an emotional Moss said. "I don't know how to take in stuff, but man, that one right there ... I don't want to show my tears, but I'm about to shed some. I appreciate that news." Drafted in the first round (16th overall) by the Jets in 2001, Moss retired with 732 receptions for 10,283 yards and 66 scores in 197 games (135 starts). Commanders to induct Santana Moss into their Ring of Fame
The Commanders will kick off the 2025 season by adding a player to the franchise's Ring of Fame. The team announced that they will be inducting wide receiver Santana Moss into the group during their Week 1 game against the Giants. Moss will be the 52nd person to join the club. Moss began his NFL career as a Jets first-round pick in 2001 and he moved on to Washington in a 2005 trade that sent wideout Laveranues Coles to New Jersey. Moss spent 10 seasons with the club and picked up 581 catches for 7,867 yards and 47 touchdowns. Moss ranks third in franchise history behind Art Monk and Charley Taylor in catches and fourth behind those two players and Gary Clark in receiving yards. He will join all three of those players as members of the team's Ring of Fame.
