Mukhyamantri Chandru urges youth make informed voting choices
Mysuru:
Aam Aadmi Party
's state president
Mukhyamantri Chandru
on Tuesday stated that voting is a precious right, and democracy can only be protected if voters select their candidates with utmost care.
Chandru spoke during an event, 'The Responsibility of Protecting Democracy in the Future Lies with the Youth,' organised by the Daari Foundation Mysore at Sarada Vilas Pre-University College.
He emphasised that the youth are thoughtful and will shape the future. Along with securing a job for a living, they should contribute to society. They should think a little about shaping the country's future while embracing Kannada pride, he said.
"To preserve the Constitution and protect democracy, it's crucial to elect good representatives. Voters should be aware of whether their chosen representative will foster development or engage in corruption over the next five years.
We must aim to preserve democracy by electing good individuals," he added.
"To safeguard democracy and protect the Constitution, the legislative, judicial, and executive branches are essential, along with a free press. However, these elements have contributed to societal decay. Religion should have a place in politics, but politics should not become religion, he said.
"Govt schools are being closed due to a lack of students. Is this the fault of the children and parents? The govt is to blame for not providing adequate facilities in schools, leading to low attendance," he said.
