'You Deserve Each Other': All About the Penn Badgley and Meghann Fahy-Led Romantic Comedy (Which Is Based on a Best-Selling Novel!)

Penn Badgley and Meghann Fahy will star in the film adaptation of Sarah Hogle's novel You Deserve Each Other The movie will follow an engaged couple who secretly despise each another Badgley and Fahy staged a fight online to promote the filmPenn Badgley and Meghann Fahy are teaming up for a new rom-com. On June 30, The Hollywood Reporter revealed that the actors will star in You Deserve Each Other, a film adaptation of Sarah Hogle's 2020 novel of the same name. The romantic comedy will follow Naomi (Fahy) and Nick (Badgley), an engaged couple who secretly can't stand each other and engage in hilarious pranks to get the other to call off the wedding — only to rediscover their love along the way. "I love [Naomi and Nick] because they are both so soft on the inside, even though they've been keeping their guards up, and as the book progresses, they each learn that the person they've been shutting out is the person who is actually their perfect match," Hogle told eleven thirteen pm in April 2020. On the day of the casting announcement, Fahy and Badgley made headlines when they engaged in a faux online feud to promote the film. From the release date to the plot, here's everything to know about Badgley and Fahy's romantic comedy, You Deserve Each Other. You Deserve Each Other will follow the plot of Hogle's novel of the same name. Naomi and Nick are a seemingly perfect engaged couple who have grown to secretly resent each other. Naomi, tired of pretending everything is fine, realizes she's stuck in the relationship unless Nick calls off the wedding (otherwise, she'd be on the hook for the nonrefundable expenses). But Nick seems equally fed up, and the pair enter into a battle of pranks and sabotage to make the other pull the plug. However, as their feud escalates, Naomi and Nick begin to remember why they fell in love in the first place. You Deserve Each Other explores how love can sometimes be rediscovered right where you left it. Hogle's novel was a two-time Goodreads Choice Awards nominee and an Amazon Editors' Pick for best romance. Badgley and Fahy will headline You Deserve Each Other as Nick and Naomi. At this time, no other cast members have been announced. Marc Silverstein and Abby Kohn — a.k.a. the writers behind Never Been Kissed and He's Just Not That Into You — are set to direct the film. The duo met in film school, they told BUILD in 2018, and have been tag-teaming projects since 1997. The script was initially written by Brett Haley and Marc Basch, but was ultimately revised by Silverstein and Kohn. I Feel Pretty — which premiered in 2018 and starred Amy Schumer — marked Silverstein and Kohn's directorial debut. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Penn Badgley (@pennbadgley) On the same day as the casting announcement, Badgley and Fahy engaged in some friendly banter on Instagram to promote the upcoming film — which seems like something their characters, Nick and Naomi, might do. 'Okay, so, I don't usually do this, but my wife and I just finished Sirens. Want to give her her flowers," Badgley said in a video. "Now obviously there's Julianne [Moore], there's Kevin [Bacon], there's Milly [Alcock], but this Meghann Fahy? This newcomer? This, like, refreshing, gawky beauty? Love it. Love you.' In the comments, Fahy wrote, 'Penn! This is so kind. Thank you. Tell Domino [Kirke] I say hi. And that her taste is flawless.' The exchange quickly devolved, with Fahy taking issue with Badgley's "gawky" comment and telling him to "chill on the body stuff." 'Whoa I've obviously been very supportive and complimentary but this feels like a trap,' Badgley replied. Fahy shot back, 'There you go again with that trapping thing. Heard you did a lot of that on your show. I never watched it.' After Badgley noted that You "succeeded without your support,' Fahy wrote, 'And without your range.' The replies ended with Badgley writing, 'One Emmy loss and suddenly you're Meryl Streep.' A release date for You Deserve Each Other has not been announced. Read the original article on People
