AI invents potential antibiotics for drug-resistant super bugs

Scientists have used artificial intelligence to invent two potential new antibiotics capable of killing drug-resistant super bugs. Years of research and clinical trials lie ahead, but researchers say the technology could spark a second golden age of antibiotic discovery. Why people can't rest in peace with their pets

If you live in Victoria, it's illegal to be buried with your beloved pet. This is a result of age-old laws that, pet advocates argue, have no relevance to life today – where many people are so attached to their pets they refer to them as their 'fur babies'. While the Victorian laws remain in place, some cemetery owners are facing a difficult decision: say no to families who wish pets to be buried with their loved ones, or break the law. ABC NewsRadio's Sarah Morice spoke with Dr Hannah Gould, a death studies academic at the University of Melbourne.

MP convicted of sex offences to continue receiving salary

New South Wales MP Gareth Ward has spent his first night in jail after being convicted of sexually abusing two young men last week. The Member for Kiama, on the state's south coast, was taken into custody on Wednesday and will remain behind bars until he is sentenced in September. Ward has not resigned from the parliament, and continues to receive his taxpayer-funded salary. But a motion to expel him from his seat is expected to be passed when the lower house returns next week. So can Ward continue to sit in parliament despite being convicted of sex offences? ABC NewsRadio's Sarah Morice spoke with Anne Twomey, a Professor Emeritus of Constitutional Law at the University of Sydney's Law School.
