"Railways also intends to run mail and express trains either originating from or passing through Patna Junction in future while all MEMU trains will originate and terminate at the Hardinge Park Terminal," the CPRO said. He added that the terminal will feature state-of-the-art facilities for passengers, comparable to those at airports, and will be directly connected via an underground passage to the multimodal hub and metro rail services at the Patna Junction end. In addition, the PM will inaugurate the newly constructed third railway line between Son Nagar and Mohammad Ganj, which will enhance coal transportation on the Ankora-Nabinagar power plant route. "Movement of goods traffic will be further streamlined following the opening of this route," said the CPRO. The PM will also inaugurate a newly installed advanced automatic signalling system between Sarasam and Anugrah Narayan Road, covering a distance of 25km.

Altogether 103 revamped stations have been inaugurated across 18 states in the country with upgraded facilities to enhance passengers' comforts and improve their infrastructure. According to the ECR's chief public relations officer (CPRO) Saraswati Chandra, Thawe Junction, which falls under the Varanasi division of the North Eastern Railway, has been redeveloped for Rs 11.75 crore under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme (ABSS). "The station, which has a direct connectivity to Lucknow and Gorakhpur, has been given a facelift in about 400 square metre station building area while circulating area of the station has been developed in about 1,030 square metre," he said, adding that the new station building has a spacious waiting hall and other modern facilities for passengers. "On its return journey, it will leave Anand Vihar every Sunday at 12pm and reach Muzaffarpur the next day at 9.45am," he said. Patna: Of the 103 revamped railway stations in 18 states of India, PM Narendra Modi will inaugurate two of them in Bihar on May 22 through videoconferencing marking a significant step in modernising India's railway infrastructure. According to the ECR's chief public relations officer (CPRO) Saraswati Chandra, Thawe Junction which falls under the Varanasi division of the North Eastern Railway and Pirpainti under the Malda division of the Eastern Railway will be inaugurated in Bihar. "The upgraded stations have been designed with an emphasis on passenger convenience and safety, featuring elevated concourse, wider entry points and enhanced amenities to provide a more comfortable experience for passengers," he said. In addition, these two revamped stations are equipped with a range of state-of-the-art facilities, including spacious waiting areas, improved ticketing systems, accessible platforms and modernised sanitation facilities. The elevated concourse will enable smoother and quicker movement of passengers while wider entry and exit points are expected to reduce congestion during peak hours, the railway sources said. Thawe and Pirpainti stations, which serve as crucial transport hubs for their regions, will benefit from these infrastructural improvements. While the Thawe serves as a critical link for passengers travelling in and out of northern Bihar, Pirpainti connects eastern parts of Bihar and West Bengal. "The inauguration of these stations will be a part of a broader vision to modernise railway stations across India to improve travel conditions for millions of passengers. The project is in line with the Indian govt's broader vision of creating 'New India' by modernising infrastructure and ensuring ease of travel," a Railway Board official said, adding that the upgraded stations will also play a crucial role in improving regional connectivity and fostering economic growth by making it easier for people and goods to move across different parts of the country.
