MMA spectacle set to thrill Kuching with 35 bouts at Boulevard Mall tomorrow

KUCHING (July 26): Mixed martial arts (MMA) fans in Kuching are in for a thrilling spectacle tomorrow (July 27), as the Sarawak Mixed Martial Arts Sports Hub (SMASH) at Boulevard Shopping Mall hosts an explosive day of combat sports action featuring 35 adrenaline-charged bouts.
The one-day event, jointly organised by SMASH and Mad Fight Club, will feature over 80 fighters from Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Brunei competing in MMA, boxing, and kickboxing matchups.
'This is a fantastic platform to not only showcase the talent of our local MMA athletes but also to promote the growth of combat sports in Sarawak.
'We are indeed proud and honoured to organise this kind of competition and bring the MMA fights to Sarawak,' said organising chairman Tsan Nieng Khai who is SMASH owner and Mad Fight Club president.
He is also the tournament's deputy head referee, assisting head referee Jiang Tao from China and Asia MMA.
Tsan, who is also president of the Sarawak Mixed Martial Arts Association (SAMMA), said the tournament has drawn a diverse mix of clubs and teams, including Turkey MMA Gym, Panglima Seman Boxing Club, Malaysian Mixed Martial Arts Association, PS Boxing Bintulu, Fearless MMA Gym, Mad Fight Club, Joe Academy Boxing, Rebel Boxing Club, Airforce Firefighter, TSM Boxing Club, Warmonger Training Academy, Kota Samarahan Boxing Club, and Money Fattloy Team.
Spectators are required to purchase an entrance ticket priced at RM15, which includes cash vouchers redeemable for food and drinks on-site.
Sunday's action kicks off at 9am, with the prize presentation and closing ceremony scheduled for 5pm.
