'Sarpatta 2' will commence THIS month, confirms Arya
'Sarpatta,' aka ' Sarpatta Parambarai ,' directed by acclaimed filmmaker Pa. Ranjith , featured a powerful cast including Arya , Pasupathi, Kalaiyarasan, John Kokken, and Dushara. The film premiered directly on a popular digital platform during the COVID-19 pandemic and received widespread acclaim from critics and audiences alike. Each character in the film left a strong impact, turning the movie into a cult favorite. Many fans have since voiced that had the film hit theaters instead of streaming platforms, the celebration and reach would have been far greater. The sequel announcement created buzz Following the massive success of ' Sarpatta Parambarai,' Pa. Ranjith officially announced a sequel a few years ago, much to the excitement of fans. However, the sequel did not go on the floors immediately. Ranjith became heavily involved in the production of his period drama 'Thangalaan,' which took up much of his time and delayed progress on ' Sarpatta 2 .' As a result, updates on the sequel remained scarce. Arya confirms 'Sarpatta 2' is happening The long wait for updates ended recently when actor Arya himself addressed the sequel during a press meet for Santhanam's upcoming movie, 'DD Next Level.' Arya revealed that 'Sarpatta 2' is indeed moving forward and that shooting is scheduled to commence in August. His confirmation brought renewed excitement among fans who have been eagerly waiting to revisit the world of 'Sarpatta.' Work to begin after Pa. Ranjith wraps up ' Vettuvam .' Currently, director Pa. Ranjith is busy with the shoot of his next film, 'Vettuvam.' Arya mentioned that once Ranjith completes 'Vettuvam,' he will fully shift focus to 'Sarpatta 2.' Tamil actor ‘Supergood' Subramani passes away after battle with cancer
Veteran Tamil actor Subramani, popularly known as Supergood Subramani, passed away at the age of 58 on Saturday (May 10). The actor, suffering from cancer, was undergoing treatment at a hospital in Chennai. Subramani began his career in films as an assistant director, but found his niche in acting. Over the years, he has acted in several notable films such as Partner, Sarpatta Parambarai, Kavalthurai Ungal Nanban, Soorarai Pottru, Rajini Murugan and Azhagarsamyin Kuthirai. However, Subramani will be best remembered for his performances in Pariyerum Perumal, Kaala, Maharaja, Pisasu, Jai Bhim, and Vaanam Kottattum. Interestingly, his long association with the production banner Super Good Films earned him the nickname 'Supergood.' As per reports, Subramani was battling Stage 4 cancer and was undergoing intensive treatment at the Rajiv Gandhi Government Hospital, Chennai. However, despite the intensive care, the actor succumbed to the disease on Saturday. Subramani's death comes just days after the actor's family sought financial aid to help cover his medical expenses. Earlier today, many prominent actors, producers and colleagues of Subramani, including producer RB Choudhury of Super Good Films, paid their tributes and expressed their condolences to the late actor's family at his residence in West Mambalam, Chennai. Supergood Subramani was cremated this afternoon. He is survived by his wife, a daughter and a son. Fans and well-wishers have been expressing their condolences on social media.
