Regina police investigating death of woman found in North Central home

The Regina Police Service (RPS) has opened an investigation into the death of a woman found in a North Central home Friday afternoon. Officers were dispatched to a residence on the 1500 block of Cameron Street at around 3:57 p.m. on Friday, stated an RPS news release issued Saturday. The woman was 'pronounced deceased on scene,' the release stated, adding police secured the scene and requested additional police resources and the coroner. 'At this early stage of the investigation, there are no further details available for release to the public,' the release went on to say. Police said the investigation will be carried out jointly with the Saskatchewan Coroners Service. Anyone with information is asked to contact the RPS at 306-777-6500 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). According to RPS, officers were dispatched to the 3000 block of 4th Avenue just after 8 p.m. Monday. Police discovered a man's body at the scene. The area was secured and members of the service's major crimes unit as well as its forensic identification unit were called in. Regina police say that no further details will be released, and that the victim's name will not be revealed 'at this time.' Anyone with information that could assist the investigation is encouraged to contact Regina police or submit an anonymous tip to Saskatchewan Crime Stoppers. The investigation is currently being run in conjunction with the Saskatchewan Coroners Service.

Woman found dead after house fire in Kelliher, Sask.

According to an email from the Melville detachment on Wednesday, police received a report of a fire at a residence in the community on June 28 and responded to the scene along with local fire and EMS. EMS pronounced the woman dead at the scene; her age and name were not made available. Fire investigators with the Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency and the Saskatchewan Coroners Service are continuing to investigate, RCMP said. 'As this is not a police investigation, we are unable to share any further details,' RCMP said in the email. Kelliher, Sask. is about 146 kilometres northeast of Regina.

Remains found near Saskatoon identified as Chad Romanski, death considered a homicide

Police say they have identified human remains found near Saskatoon last week as Chad Romanski of Saskatoon and are now treating the death as a homicide. In a news release, the Saskatoon Police Service (SPS) said the remains were found off Highway 7, west of the city, on June 4. Police have not said how far outside of the city or how far off the highway the body was found, or how it was discovered. The release said investigation by SPS and the Saskatchewan Coroners Service confirmed the remains belong to 31-year-old Romanski. Police say they are treating the death as a homicide.
