Kolhapur gramsevaks launch strike after demands not met
Kolhapur: Gramsevaks from all 1,029 villages of the district have stopped all gram panchayat related works in protest against the non-fulfillment of demands. They launched a 'Kaam Bandh' strike on Friday and said it will continue till their demands are met.
These demands include a revised payment scale and the implementation of govt decisions regarding water supply projects.
The gramsevaks will also carry out a sit-in protest outside the Kolhapur Zilla Parishad on Monday. The
Maharashtra State Gramsevak Union
and the Maharashtra State Gram Panchayat Officers Association have lend their support in this strike.
Satappa Mohite, a protesting gramsevak, said, "Gramsevaks of all the villages from the district stopped working from Friday. Our demands, like the implementation of a revised pay scale as per a Government Resolution (GR) issued by the Rural Development Department on 24 Sept 2024, and pay increment payable to employees transferred from other districts as per govt decision, should be received. The govt decision of 4 Sept 2020 should be implemented regarding the transfer of the water supply scheme of the Water Supply and Sanitation Department."
