In Kolhapur, INDIA bloc likely to face local body elections together says Cong MLC Satej Patil

Kolhapur: Congress MLC Satej Patil has confirmed that the INDIA bloc parties will contest the upcoming local body elections in Kolhapur as a unified force. The elections for local bodies in Kolhapur district are slated for Sept-Oct. The alliance partners — comprising Congress, Shiv Sena (UBT), NCP (SP) and left parties — have started their preparations at the booth level. Following a preliminary meeting with INDIA representatives in Kolhapur on Friday evening, Satej Patil indicated a 90-95% likelihood of contesting jointly. He noted that Congress state president Harshvardhan Sapkal recently consulted with NCP (SP) chief Sharad Pawar and Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray regarding Congress's stance in the forthcoming local body elections. He observed the state administration has lost its financial direction, and women previously addressed as "ladki" have seen reduced benefits. "The elections for Kolhapur and Ichalkaranji municipal corporations, ZP, and town councils will be held after the rains. This time, the picture will be different from the assembly elections. Ladki Bahin saved Mahayuti from defeat; however, for govt, the sisters are no longer considered 'ladki'. Funds need to be arranged to save the scheme by curtailing funds from other departments. State govt is planning to hand out loans to the Ladki Bahin beneficiaries so that govt can refrain from paying the monthly dole. Instead, the banks will receive the amount once a year," said Patil. The Congress MLC said state govt's total debt burden has reached Rs 9.5 lakh crore, approaching Rs 10 lakh crore. "The three parties in govt have failed to plan the finances of the state. The Mahayuti MLAs are still ignorant of the problems faced by the people. We raised our voice, and only after that did state govt start assessing the damages caused by the recent floods and heavy rain. With all these issues, we are going to face the elections, and we are hopeful of winning in all local bodies," added Patil.

No invite for MVA politicians for Almatti meeting

Kolhapur: Politicians of the Maha Vikas Aghadi said they received no invitation from state govt to participate in discussions regarding Karnataka's proposals to increase the Almatti dam height on the Krishna river. Recently, representatives from various parties conducted protests at Ankali Bridge, aiming to draw state govt's attention to the concerns of villagers from Kolhapur and Sangli districts. Local residents and activists said any increase in the dam's height would worsen the existing flood situation, as they attribute the current flooding to the Almatti dam. Following the dharna, govt officials conveyed that the water resources minister, Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil , scheduled a meeting for Wednesday to address these concerns and discuss future steps. MVA politicians said that invitations were exclusively extended to elected representatives from Mahayuti parties — BJP, Shiv Sena, and NCP — whilst MVA representatives were excluded. "The list of invitees includes MLAs from constituencies that do not get floods. We staged a dharna by bringing all parties together to avoid politicisation of the issue. However, MVA's elected representatives, who, in a real sense, have to address the inconvenience faced by the people in their constituencies, have not been invited. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch Bitcoin và Ethereum - Không cần ví! These representatives' constituencies have rivers that regularly experience flooding during the monsoon.

"Many ex-corporators from other parties dialled us and told us that they are with the Congress party and our leader. There are attempts at poaching because Congress is strong in Kolhapur city, and the opposition will try to break us apart, which will not happen," said Sachin Chavan, city president of added that Patil encouraged the former corporators to begin preparations for the civic body elections and to "contest with a positive mind. Minister Prakash Abitkar acknowledges challenges in fund availability due to Ladki Bahin

Kolhapur: Health minister Prakash Abitkar on Saturday acknowledged that various govt departments have had to face funds-related issues due to the Ladki Bahin yojana, but added that the scenario would improve. However, Satej Patil , an MLC and leader of Congress in the legislative council, took a dig at state govt. "It is a fact that all govt departments are having to do a bit of a balancing act in terms of funds due to the Ladki Bahin yojana. In the Budget, allotment of funds to other departments was not the way it should have been. This caused some difficulties for all of us. In the first phase, some hurdles were faced but, henceforth, the train will be on track. Funds, not only for the Ladki Bahin scheme , but for several other govt schemes initiated will be provided in the next phase, said health minister Prakash Abitkar on Saturday. Abitkar was speaking to reporters in Kolhapur about the allegations made by social justice minister Sanjay Shirsat, who claimed funds of the social justice department were diverted for the Mahayuti's flagship scheme for women. Meanwhile, Satej Patil said: "Ladki Bahins have become step-sisters after the elections. Why didn't govt give a thought to the funds before launching such a scheme? It is clear this scheme was launched only looking at the election benefit." Right after the election, the first GR was passed to complete only 60% of the work. "Ladki Bahin beneficiaries haven't received the April instalment yet. Now, the social justice minister is speaking about closing down his department due to the unavailability of funds. This shows the reality of Maharashtra govt's financial condition," added Patil. Speaking about the upcoming local body elections, Abitkar said, "There is a coalition govt in state. Therefore, it is expected that all the elections will be contested together in the district as well. If we fight in coordination with each other in the elections of cooperatives and local bodies, the results witnessed in state assembly elections will be repeated in the district."
