Al-Ahsa Launches First Direct Flight to Turkey
Al-Ahsa's Governor Prince Saud bin Talal has launched the first seasonal direct flight between Al-Ahsa International Airport and Rize–Artvin International Airport in Turkey, according to the Saudi Press Agency. Attended by various senior officials, the inauguration ceremony represented a strong collaboration between Turkish Airlines and Al Ghazal Travel and Tourism Agency. The move aligns with Al-Ahsa International Airport's expansion plan to foster air connectivity and multiply international travel options for passengers from the governorate and Eastern Region. Moreover, it reflects the ongoing efforts of the Al-Ahsa Development Authority to develop Al-Ahsa International Airport and boost its services. The launching also mirrors the governorate's commitment to achieving the Saudi Vision 2030 objectives of elevating the tourism and economic sectors and satisfying the needs of Al-Ahsa people for direct international flights from their local airport. Prince Saud commended all government and private entities that significantly contributed to the launch of these flights with Turkey, noting the importance of bolstering integration between various sectors across Al-Ahsa. In this context, he stressed that the current success further solidifies Al-Ahsa International Airport's position as a growing regional hub for air transport. Al-Ahsa Hosts UNESCO Creative Cities Forum 2025
Al-Ahsa is hosting the UNESCO Global Creative Cities Network Forum 2025, bringing together 42 creative cities from around the globe to celebrate their excellence in handicrafts and folk arts, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA). The forum was launched on Wednesday, under the patronage of the Governor of Al-Ahsa, Prince Saud bin Talal bin Badr. It is organized by the Al-Ahsa Municipality, in collaboration with Al-Ahsa Governorate, the Al-Ahsa Development Authority, and the National Commission for Education, Culture and Science. Creative Cities Forum 2025 Running for three days, the Creative Cities Forum 2025 gathers representatives of creative cities from across the world, as well as several government entities representatives and craftspeople. The forum features workshops and meetings to exchange expertise, in addition to cultural field trips that brief participants on Al-Ahsa's efforts and contributions to preserve handicrafts and folk arts. The field tours include destinations such as Al-Qaisariyah Souq, the artisans market, and other heritage sites. Al-Ahsa Creative City The opening ceremony featured folk arts performances and a documentary displaying Al-Ahsa traditional handicraft heritage. Furthermore, it witnessed the signing of a twinning agreement between Al-Ahsa Creative City from Saudi Arabia and Madaba Creative City from Jordan. On this occasion, Prince Saud bin Talal said that the integrated efforts of Al-Ahsa Creative City has significantly contributed to achieving key objectives that integrate education with cultural and creative activities, with the aim of enhancing the sustainability of handicrafts and folk arts. This has enabled Al-Ahsa to share its expertise with in preserving handicrafts and folk arts with other creative cities around the world through numerous international meetings and forums. Showcasing Al-Ahsa Heritage Moreover, Prince Saud bin Talal highlighted Al-Ahsa's rich cultural heritage and long-standing craftsmanship which placed it among the world's top creative cities. In the light of this, he noted that Al-Ahsa is the first Gulf city and the third Arab city in the global creative network, as well as the vice president of UNESCO's Creative Cities Network for Crafts and Folk Arts. The UNESCO Global Creative Cities Network Forum for handicrafts and folk arts coincides with Saudi Arabia's designation of 2025 as the Year of Handicrafts, to celebrate its unique cultural value and showcase the creativity of Saudi artisans to the world. Saudi Arabia's property market set for growth with billions in new projects
RIYADH: The Saudi real estate landscape is poised for substantial growth, as industry leaders, policymakers, and investors gathered at the Real Estate Future Forum in Riyadh to unveil major developments in property investment and tourism. Highlighting the Kingdom's ambitious Vision 2030 objectives, Asir Gov. Prince Turki bin Talal revealed the Public Investment Fund is spearheading nine major projects in the region, with four already launched and five in progress. 'The largest PIF projects in the Kingdom are in the Asir region,' the governor said, emphasizing the region's pivotal role in Saudi Arabia's evolving property market. The governor highlighted the region's growing hospitality sector, with between 6,000 and 8,000 approved hotel rooms currently available. He also announced that Abha's World Cup bid had been officially recognized as the best in the Kingdom by the Ministry of Sports. Meanwhile, Al-Ahsa Gov. Prince Saud bin Talal unveiled plans to expand the region's hospitality offerings. 'Our pipeline includes over seven or eight hotels and more than 25 rural lodges, including three five-star hotels: Hilton, Radisson Blu, and Hilton Garden Inn,' he said. Saudi Tourism Minister Ahmed Al-Khateeb noted the rapid expansion of the Kingdom's hospitality industry, with hotel room capacity expected to grow from 475,000 to 675,000 by 2030. Al-Khateeb also discussed the impact of major infrastructure projects, such as the King Salman International Airport expansion and the launch of Riyadh Air, which are central to the Kingdom's hyper-tourism strategy. He forecast that at least 50 percent of the country's tourism will be centered in Riyadh, but emphasized efforts to keep the capital's share from exceeding 80-90 percent. In the financial sector, Mohammed El-Kuwaiz, chairman of the Capital Market Authority, discussed the increasing role of real estate in the Kingdom's investment market. 'Around 20 percent of the 55 initial public offerings currently under review involve real estate companies,' he revealed. El-Kuwaiz emphasized the importance of financial stability and transparency for companies looking to list, advising them to treat investors as partners. In a significant move, he also announced that listed companies owning properties in Makkah and Madinah can now welcome foreign investors immediately.
