Saudi flight develops mid-air technical snag, lands safely in Lucknow

A Saudi Arabia Airlines flight with around 250 passengers, including Hajj pilgrims, landed in Lucknow after experiencing a technical snag, according to a report by NDTV. As the aircraft touched down at Lucknow airport on Sunday, thick smoke and sparks were observed coming from its left wheel. Flight SV3112 departed Jeddah at 10:45 pm and arrived in Lucknow at 6:30 am. The incident took place on Sunday morning at the city's Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport and all passengers were deboarded safely. No harm was caused to the aircraft. There was no impact on airport operations, news agency PTI quoted sources as saying. In a separate incident, a Lufthansa flight heading to Hyderabad returned to Frankfurt airport on Sunday evening following a bomb threat. The threat was reported roughly two hours after the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner departed from Frankfurt at 2:14 pm local time. The flight was originally set to arrive at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport early Monday. Lufthansa's live flight status indicated that flight LH752 arrived back in Frankfurt at around 5:30 p.m. local time. The aircraft's in-flight U-turn was also confirmed by the independent tracking service FlightAware. The flight crew informed Hyderabad Air Traffic Control of their decision to return not long after taking off from Frankfurt, according to PTI. The airline spokesperson said the passengers, who were provided with accommodation in Frankfurt, will be continuing their journey to Hyderabad on Monday. "Out of an abundance of caution, Lufthansa flight LH752 from Frankfurt to Hyderabad returned to its point of departure after authorities were made aware of a bomb threat posted on social media," the spokesperson for Lufthansa said. On June 12, an Air India-operated Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner crashed into a building, resulting in the deaths of all passengers except one.

Saudi Flight With Hajj Pilgrims Lands Safely In Lucknow After Technical Snag

Lucknow: A flight carrying about 250 passengers, including Hajj pilgrims, from Saudi Arabia landed in Lucknow after it developed a technical snag on Sunday. Smoke was seen emanating from the left wheel as the Saudi Arabia Airlines flight landed at Lucknow airport on Sunday morning. The fault in the wheel was likely due to a leak in the hydraulic system. The plane, an Airbus A330-343, left Jeddah at 10:45 pm and reached Lucknow around 6:50 am, according to data from Flightradar24. In a separate incident, a Hyderabad-bound Lufthansa flight made a U-turn and landed back at Frankfurt airport last evening due to a bomb threat, said sources. The bomb threat was received about two hours after the flight, a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, took off from the German city at 2.14 pm local time on Sunday. It was scheduled to land at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport early Monday. Lufthansa, however, claimed in a statement to the news agency ANI that it was forced to turn around since it did not receive a permit to land in Hyderabad. Last Thursday, a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner operated by Air India crashed into a building, killing all except one of the passengers.

Demolition of old domestic terminal only after Haj

1 2 3 Kolkata: The dismantling of Kolkata airport's former domestic terminal, inactive since 2013 following the launch of the new integrated terminal, will commence after Haj flights conclude this July. The demolition, including the air traffic surveillance building, is essential for the airport's future expansion plans. The passenger terminal was used for multiple purposes since it was decommissioned over a decade ago. During the pandemic, a section of the terminal was converted into a quarantine centre. An RT-PCR testing facility operated out of the building in 2020-22 when the tests became mandatory for international travellers flying into Kolkata. The terminal was also used to conduct Haj flights during the annual pilgrimage to Mecca in Saudi Arabia. The contract for auctioning the material retrieved from the demolished building was handed over to public sector undertaking MSTC Ltd. The demolition is expected to be completed by the end of this year or early next year. A new U-shaped passenger terminal, initially proposed to be used exclusively for international flights, will be constructed in place of the old terminal. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 2025: Steel Suppliers From Mexico At Lowest Prices (Take A Look) Steel Suppliers | search ads Search Now Undo A wall has already been constructed to segregate the old domestic airport terminal from the apron area, facilitating the demolition of the building. A gap has been left before the exit to facilitate Haj pilgrims accessing the Saudi Arabia Airlines flight used to ferry them to Mecca. "The segregation wall is important both for the safety and security of airlines and airport ground staff, as well as aircraft and other equipment deployed in the apron area," an airport official said. While construction sites are usually cordoned off with corrugated metal sheets, a brick and mortar wall with a concrete plinth and columns is being built to prevent any breach of security during the construction of the new terminal when several hundred workers will be engaged by the contractor. The old domestic terminal, built in 1995, had a capacity of 50 lakh passengers per annum. Its built-up area is 2.4 lakh sq ft. The current terminal has a capacity of 2.6 crore passengers per annum with a built-up area of 24 lakh sq ft. The capacity is being increased to 2.8 crore through a modular expansion that will lead to the addition of 71,000 sq ft. This project will be completed by the end of this year.
