Saudi Media Forum 2026 to be held in Riyadh under King Salman's patronage
Saudi Gazette report RIYADH — The next edition of the Saudi Media Forum will take place in Riyadh from Feb. 2 to 4, 2026, under the patronage of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz, with participation from more than 250 local, regional, and international media and tech companies. Held at a time of major global shifts in the media landscape, the forum will bring together top decision-makers, innovators, and industry leaders to discuss the future of media, digital transformation, and content creation. Minister of Media Salman Al-Dosari said the forum, launched in Riyadh, has grown into an influential international platform that helps shape the future of media in the region and beyond. 'It serves as a space for Saudi narratives to be presented to the world with professionalism and clarity, while also supporting the Kingdom's ambition to build a competitive, innovative media sector.' The forum's theme, 'Media in a Shifting World,' reflects the convergence of emerging technologies and content production, Al-Dosari said, noting that new strategies are needed to adapt to these changes and sustain the media's relevance and minister thanked King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for their continued support of the media sector, adding that their patronage provides powerful motivation to raise industry standards and broaden media Al-Harthi, CEO of the Saudi Broadcasting Authority and president of the forum, said the 2026 edition will spotlight the potential of generative artificial intelligence and extended reality in media three-day forum will include more than 100 panel discussions and specialized workshops, alongside an innovation zone showcasing the latest technologies in broadcasting, content production, and distribution.A number of international agreements will be signed to support Saudi talent and foster global in its fifth edition, the Saudi Media Forum continues to serve as a global hub for dialogue, knowledge exchange, and professional development, advancing the Kingdom's ambition to build a world-class media industry.

Saudi Broadcasting Authority chief meets with Sri Lankan envoy
RIYADH: Saudi Broadcasting Authority CEO Mohammed Al-Harthi received Sri Lankan ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Omar Lebbe Ameer Ajwad, in Riyadh. During the meeting, the two sides explored avenues for bilateral cooperation in the media sector, particularly in television and program production, content exchange, and media expertise sharing, Saudi Press Agency reported on Wednesday. They also discussed opportunities for joint media training between the two countries and Sri Lanka's upcoming participation in the Saudi Media Forum.

Saudi Television has played a pivotal role in the Kingdom's media journey, marking its first official broadcast on July 7, 1965, during the reign of King Faisal bin Abdulaziz. Entering the 2000s, Saudi Television underwent significant specialization and digital growth. Moreover, the Saudi Broadcasting Authority introduced a variety of specialized channels to meet evolving viewer preferences. Among these were: Al-Ekhbariya Channel (2004), delivering local and global news; The Holy Quran Channel (2009), offering continuous live broadcasts from the Grand Mosque; The Sunnah Channel, which features live programming from the Prophet's Mosque in Medina. These additions diversified content while maintaining a focus on religious, cultural, and national programming. Saudi Television also remained the official broadcaster of national events and speeches, reinforcing its central role in shaping public discourse. Embracing Digital Evolution, Vision 2030 With the launch of SBC Channel in 2018, Saudi Television expanded its reach to younger audiences through contemporary entertainment. SBA Achieves Media Excellence in 1446 Hajj
The Saudi Broadcasting Authority (SBA) delivered extensive and high-quality media coverage during the 1446 Hajj season, showcasing Saudi Arabia's commitment to serving pilgrims. Through a multilingual, multi-platform approach, the SBA successfully communicated the spiritual and logistical significance of Hajj to audiences around the world. Over 850 professionals contributed to the operation, producing more than 800 hours of content across eight television and radio channels. The coverage was powered by 120 professional cameras stationed at key holy sites, supported by 25 satellite and live broadcast vehicles, and two mobile control centers. These resources enabled the production of over 700 news stories, more than 300 in-depth radio and TV reports, and the hosting of over 1,000 guests in live programs. The SBA's programming featured 55 dedicated shows focused on the Hajj experience, offering detailed insights into the rituals, sacred sites, and the services provided by various government and private sector entities. Digitally, the SBA reached new milestones—publishing over 8,900 posts across its platforms and generating more than 400 million views and impressions. With over 1 million interactions, the authority demonstrated its growing global digital influence and audience engagement.
