786 Pakistanis leave India through Attari-Wagah border after Pahalgam terror attack

ANI 30 Apr 2025, 08:30 GMT+10 By Saurabh Trivedi New Delhi [India], April 30 (ANI): As many as 786 Pakistan nationals have left India through the Attari-Wagah border point within six days beginning April 24, said a senior official. The officer informed that during the same time, a total of 1376 Indians have returned from Pakistan through the Attari-Wagah border. On April 24, the government announced that Pakistani nationals should leave India by April 27, and those with medical visas had until April 29 to do so. Those having diplomatic, official and long-term visas were excluded from the 'Leave India' notice. The deadline for Pakistanis holding any of the 12 categories of short-term visas ended on Sunday. The restriction on the stay of Pakistani nationals came after the terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam, where 26 tourists were killed. The government strongly advised Indian nationals to avoid travelling to Pakistan. Those Indian nationals currently in Pakistan are also advised to return to India at the earliest. 'Several have left via flight through Dubai or other routes, as there is no direct flight to Pakistan. We are expecting more Pakistan nationals to leave the country as state police and other central agencies are identifying Pakistan nationals residing at various places in the country,' said the officer. A large verification drive in all of the states is underway in close coordination with central intelligence agencies. Strict action will be taken against Pakistani nationals, and their stay will be considered illegal if they continue their stay in India after April 29, said another officer who is closely monitoring the situation. BSF issues strict advisory after jawan held by Pak Rangers in Punjab

By Saurabh Trivedi New Delhi [India], April 29 (ANI): After a Border Security Force (BSF) jawan was earlier detained by Pakistan Rangers, the force has issued a strict advisory to jawans to be alert and vigilant during border patrol. A senior BSF officer confirmed that, although the advisory has been part of their regular briefing, after Pakistani Rangers detained the jawan during patrolling duty, all patrolling parties have been instructed to be extra cautious during duty. Amid ongoing tension at the border, jawans have been asked to be extra cautious and avoid inadvertently crossing the border during patrol duty. Even the farmers working on farms at the borders have been asked to be vigilant,' the officer added. Another BSF officer said that such incidents are common in the Punjab border where jawans from both sides often cross the border inadvertently and issues are used to get resolved in a single flag meeting, but this time Pakistan is not turning up for the meeting despite several attempts. 'Pakistan is not responding because of ongoing tension after the Pahalgam attack, but we have lodged our protest with the Pak Rangers and are making all efforts to bring back the jawan,' the officer added. An investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the incident in which Jawan Purnam Kumar Shaw inadvertently crossed the international border. An inquiry has been initiated into the matter; further details are awaited. Pakistan Rangers detained a BSF trooper on April 23 after he inadvertently crossed the International Border near Punjab's Firozpur. The incident occurred while a BSF trooper was crossing the border to provide security to local farmers working near the fence. According to initial reports, the trooper unintentionally stepped into Pakistani territory. The BSF is the primary force responsible for guarding the 3,323 km long India-Pakistan border, spanning the states of Jammu and Kashmir (including parts of the LoC), Punjab, Rajasthan, and Gujarat. This border is one of the most sensitive and volatile in the country, due to historical tensions and ongoing security challenges. (ANI)

Pahalgam terror attack: Over ten thousand tourists depart from Srinagar

By Saurabh Trivedi New Delhi [India], April 24 (ANI): In the aftermath of the terror attack in Pahalgam, a total of 10,090 passengers, mostly tourists, departed from Srinagar airport on Thursday. Additionally, a total of 4,107 passengers arrived at the Srinagar airport today. A senior official from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) confirmed that on Thursday total of 110 flights operated to and from Srinagar airport to various locations between 6 am to 8 pm that ferried a total of 14,197 passengers. And total of eight additional flights were operated. It was further infored that Minister of Civil Aviation Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu proactively instructed all airlines to ensure safe transit to tourists wanting to return and to also ensure that the airfare prices are kept in control, and to increase the number of flights. In addition, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has taken prompt action, issuing urgent advisories to all airlines and online travel agencies. These directives are designed to guarantee seamless connectivity for passengers traveling from Srinagar to multiple destinations throughout India, ensure clear and transparent displays of airfares, and provide assistance to stranded tourists. Understanding the challenges many passengers are facing, airlines have worked diligently to ease the burden by waiving cancellation and rescheduling fees. Besides this, they have increased flight capacities to help ensure that the stranded tourists at Srinagar can return home safely. As a result of these interventions, a notable reduction in airfares from Srinagar has been observed over two days. For instance, a flight from Srinagar to Delhi, which was priced over Rs 20,000 on April 21, 2025, has decreased to a more accessible fare, falling below Rs 10,000 by April 24, 2025. Despite the positive development, the discontent persists across social media platforms and public forums, with many individuals continuing to express their grievances regarding the high fares levied by airlines operating from Srinagar. The Ministry of Civil Aviation is consistently monitoring fares being charged by airlines, and remains steadfast in its commitment to protecting passengers and is striving to ensure that no airline exploits this challenging period by engaging in practices of profiteering.
