786 Pakistanis leave India through Attari-Wagah border after Pahalgam terror attack

New Delhi [India], April 30 (ANI): As many as 786 Pakistan nationals have left India through the Attari-Wagah border point within six days beginning April 24, said a senior official.
The officer informed that during the same time, a total of 1376 Indians have returned from Pakistan through the Attari-Wagah border.
On April 24, the government announced that Pakistani nationals should leave India by April 27, and those with medical visas had until April 29 to do so. Those having diplomatic, official and long-term visas were excluded from the 'Leave India' notice. The deadline for Pakistanis holding any of the 12 categories of short-term visas ended on Sunday.
The restriction on the stay of Pakistani nationals came after the terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam, where 26 tourists were killed.
The government strongly advised Indian nationals to avoid travelling to Pakistan. Those Indian nationals currently in Pakistan are also advised to return to India at the earliest.
'Several have left via flight through Dubai or other routes, as there is no direct flight to Pakistan. We are expecting more Pakistan nationals to leave the country as state police and other central agencies are identifying Pakistan nationals residing at various places in the country,' said the officer.
A large verification drive in all of the states is underway in close coordination with central intelligence agencies.
Strict action will be taken against Pakistani nationals, and their stay will be considered illegal if they continue their stay in India after April 29, said another officer who is closely monitoring the situation. (ANI)

NAPA urges immediate reopening of Kartarpur Sahib Corridor for Sikhs
Satnam Singh Chahal, the executive director of the North American Punjabi Association (NAPA), on Saturday appealed to the government of India to immediately reopen the Kartarpur Sahib Corridor, enabling Sikh pilgrims from India to visit the Darbar Sahib Gurdwara in Kartarpur, Pakistan, one of the most sacred sites in Sikhism. Chahal said Pakistan continues to keep its side of the corridor open, allowing pilgrims from around the world to visit the holy shrine. In contrast, the closure on the Indian side has left millions of Sikhs in the country disheartened, spiritually disconnected, and deeply disappointed, Chahal said. "The Kartarpur Sahib Corridor is a historic milestone symbolising peace, interfaith harmony, and the spiritual rights of Sikhs," Chahal said. Its continued closure due to political or administrative reasons is not only unjustified but deeply hurtful to the sentiments of the Sikh community. The Indian government must rise above political considerations and prioritise the emotional and religious needs of the Sikh population," he said. Chahal stressed that reopening the corridor is not merely a logistical matter, but also a sacred obligation to the community. "Kartarpur Sahib is not just a religious site; it is the spiritual heartbeat of every Sikh. Blocking access to such a sacred place is an affront to our collective faith and identity," he said. NAPA believes that reopening the corridor would not only uphold religious freedom but also foster goodwill, strengthen cross-border people-to-people ties, and promote regional peace, he said. NAPA expresses its sincere hope and confidence that the government of India will take prompt and positive action to restore access to Kartarpur Sahib for Indian Sikh devotees, ensuring they are able to fulfil their religious duties and seek spiritual solace without hindrance, Chahal said.

Kharge slams Centre's Gaza vote abstention at UNGA, says India's foreign policy 'in shambles'
New Delhi: A day after India abstained in the UN General Assembly (UNGA) from a vote on a draft resolution that demanded an 'immediate, unconditional and permanent' ceasefire in Gaza, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge said that "our Foreign Policy is in shambles" and added that "PM Modi must now take a call on his EAM's repeated blunders and set some accountability." As Israel continues to bomb Gaza which has already killed more than 50,000 people and displaced millions in the already torn area, the 193-member UN General Assembly voted overwhelmingly to adopt the resolution introduced by Spain that demanded an immediate, unconditional and permanent ceasefire. Taking to X, Congress President said, "It is now increasingly evident that our Foreign Policy is in shambles. Perhaps, PM Modi must now take a call on his EAM's repeated blunders and set some accountability. 149 countries voted for a UNGA resolution for a ceasefire in Gaza. India was only one of the 19 countries that abstained. We virtually stand isolated by this step." Reiterating the Congress' statement that condemned the brutal attacks by Hamas on the people of Israel on October 8, 2023, Kharge said, "We have consistently condemned the indiscriminate actions that included a siege of the Gaza Strip and bombings in it as 60,000 people have died and there is a widespread and horrific humanitarian crisis." Taking a jibe at Indian Foreign Policy which now stands on the crossroads as New Delhi continues to call for talks and diplomacy between Israel and Palestine while routinely skipping the votes at such crucial drafts, Kharge asked, "Have we abandoned India's consistent stand advocating for a ceasefire, peace, and dialogue in the Middle East and West Asia?" "This stance is deeply rooted in our long-standing tradition of Non-Alignment and moral diplomacy, through which India has always championed justice and peace in international conflicts", he added. "On October 19, 2023, itself, the Indian National Congress had called for an immediate ceasefire and for humanitarian assistance to the beleaguered and dispossessed people of Gaza. India cannot stand by silently or passively while the region faces horrific violence, humanitarian catastrophe, and increasing instability", he added.
