Rihanna Reaches A New Billboard Chart For The First Time In Her Career

Rihanna's 'Friend of Mine' opens at No. 3 on Billboard's new Hot Dance/Electronic Pop Songs chart, ... More earning the singer her first hit on the tally. LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA - OCTOBER 10: Rihanna attends the Savage X Fenty Celebration of Lavish Lace Debut at Nordstrom Century City on October 10, 2024 in Los Angeles, California. (Photo byfor Savage X Fenty) Rihanna's new single 'Friend of Mine' is experiencing something of a lukewarm reception on the Billboard charts this week. The tune arrives on more than half a dozen tallies in the United States, thanks largely to its quick adoption by a number of radio formats. While the latest from the Grammy winner underperforms in some respects, it also grants the singer her first success on a list she's never appeared on before. Rihanna lands on the Hot Dance/Electronic Pop Songs chart for the first time this week. 'Friend of Mine' opens at No. 3 on Billboard's ranking of the most consumed tunes that straddle the line between pop and dance music. The cut is not just the highest-ranking debut of the frame, it's the only new title on the tally this time around. Billboard only introduced the Hot Dance/Electronic Pop Songs chart a few months ago, and Rihanna hasn't released any new music prior to 'Friend of Mine' for several years, so it's not shocking that this is her first placement – even though she's scored multiple dance smashes in the past. Her last single before 'Friend of Mine,' 'Lift Me Up,' which was written and recorded for the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever soundtrack, dropped in 2022. That tune likely wouldn't have been eligible for this roster anyway, based on its style. Rihanna has landed on this list with her first eligible brand new cut. This week, Rihanna is beaten to the summit by two of the very few No. 1s in the short history of the Hot Dance/Electronic Pop Songs chart. Lady Gaga leads for a fourteenth week with 'Abracadebra.' That track, taken from Mayhem, has spent 16 frames somewhere on the list, and all but two of them in charge. 'Revolving Door' by Tate McRae holds steady in the runner-up spot after briefly leading the charge. 'Friend of Mine' performs well on a number of Billboard's dance-specific rankings. It starts at No. 1 on the Dance Digital Song Sales chart and enters the Dance Streaming Songs list at No. 6. The cut, which was crafted specifically for the upcoming Smurfs movie, is also a quick top 40 success across a number of radio formats. Unfortunately, it misses out on reaching the Hot 100, but only by one space. Instead, it launches at No. 1 on the Bubbling Under Hot 100.

Pregnant Rihanna 'playing hide the bump' in sizzling lingerie photoshoot

Rihanna has diverted attention from her growing bump in a sizzling lingerie shoot for Savage X Fenty. The music superstar announced she was expecting her third child with partner A$AP Rocky earlier this year by proudly flaunting her bump at the Met Gala. The couple, who began dating in 2019, already share sons Rza, three, and Riot, one. The Diamonds hitmaker is no stranger to baring her growing stomach in incredible outfits, but she joked she was playing 'hide the baby bump' during the shoot. Pictures show the star strategically covering her stomach while showcasing the eye-catching floral lingerie, posing with her arms and legs positioned in ways that hide her bump. She can also be seen posing with a plastic garden chair with her back to the camera, while also leaning against a blue tiled wall to divert attention. 'It's me playing 'hide the baby bump' whole shoot! boutta be a cheeky summer ☀️🍑 new mosaic floral lace @savagexfenty just dropped!' she wrote in the caption on Instagram. Fans still lauded the pics as 'incredible', praising the expectant mother for showing off her body while pregnant. Others flocked to the comment section to share their condolences for the singer following the death of her father, Ronald Fenty aged 70. The patriarch died early Saturday morning in Los Angeles, as confirmed by Starcom Network News, a prominent radio station based in Rihanna's homeland of Barbados. While the official cause of death has not yet been publicly disclosed, sources close to the family indicated that Ronald Fenty died after a brief illness. Rihanna's mother, Monica, and Ronald share three children together: Rihanna and her two younger brothers, Rorrey and Rajad. More Trending The singer also has three half-siblings from her father's previous relationships: sisters Samantha and Kandy and brother Jamie. She had a turbulent relationship with her father, with reports detailing past struggles Ronald faced with alcohol and drug addiction. During an interview with Vogue (per Billboard) in 2011, Rihanna opened up about the dynamics between her and her father: 'It's really strange. That's the only word I can think of to describe it, because you grow up with your father, you know him, you are a part of him, for goodness' sakes!' She continued: 'And then he does something so bizarre that I can't begin to wrap my mind around it. You hear the horror stories about people going behind people's backs and doing strange things, but you always think, Not my family. My father would never do that to me.' Got a story? How Rihanna's Latest Savage X Fenty Shoot Kept Fans Guessing

Rihanna's latest Savage X Fenty campaign was shot strategically. The entrepreneur revealed she did the shoot earlier in her third pregnancy and went out of her way to keep her personal news under wraps. 'It's me playing 'hide the baby bump' whole shoot!' she captioned the images on Instagram. In the photos, Rihanna poses in a vibrant tiled setting wearing a red printed bra and thong set. She avoids giving a full view of her stomach, whether she leans against a wall or back in a chair. Rihanna announced she and A$AP Rocky were expanding their family at this year's Met Gala, which Rocky co-chaired. The couple is already parents to two sons: RZA, 2, and Riot, who will turn 2 this summer. Rihanna has been out regularly this spring. Just last week, she wore multiple cut-out dresses in Cannes, showcasing her elegant maternity style. She even released her first new single in three years, 'Friend of Mine,' for the upcoming Smurfs movie this month. Rihanna told Entertainment Tonight at the Met Gala that her third pregnancy wouldn't stall her long-awaited ninth album completely. At most, she joked, it would only delay 'maybe a couple videos.' Post-Met Gala, the pair is 'focused on family time,' an insider told People. 'Rihanna's a great mom. She loves playing with the kids. He's such a playful dad too. They were hoping for another baby.' Another source told People that the couple planned for close pregnancies. 'Rihanna has always wanted a big family, so she couldn't be more excited,' the insider said. 'Rihanna and Rocky are thrilled to be growing their family, and they can't wait to give their boys another sibling. They wanted to have their children close together in age, so that they could grow up together and share a close bond. They feel so blessed and are so grateful for this next chapter in their lives. It's a very special time.' A source gave Entertainment Tonight a similar statement, saying, 'Rihanna and A$AP are so excited about baby number three. They have been open about wanting another baby.'

Rihanna looked sensational in a red-print bra and panty set from her Savage X Fenty range. The singer, 37 is pregnant with her third child with her partner A$AP Rocky, 36, and she deftly posed to hide any glimpse of her bump during the photo shoot. She revealed she was expecting her third child with A$AP when she debuted her baby bump at the Met Gala in early May. Rihanna - who shares sons RZA, two, and Riot, 21 months, with A$AP - has been busy exploring the sights of Cannes with the rapper recently. Earlier this month, Rihanna insisted her new album won't be delayed too much by her pregnancy. Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, the singer was asked if the album - which has been dubbed 'R9' - will be 'put on pause even longer'. She insisted: 'No, maybe a couple of videos.' Fans have been waiting nine years for the follow-up to 2016's Anti, but Rihanna has assured them that her plans are still in place. Rihanna also revealed she isn't 'too overwhelmed' by her pregnancy, although there was some initial shock. She added: 'I'm good! I'm shockingly feeling ok, and not too overwhelmed at the moment.' While details on her new album are few and far between, Rihanna recently offered a teaser of what fans can expect. She told Harper's BAZAAR magazine in February: 'I've been in the studio the whole eight years. But it didn't hit me. I was searching for it. 'I went through phases of what I wanted to do. ''This kind of album, not that album''. I know it's not going to be anything that anybody expects. 'And it's not going to be commercial or radio, digestible. It's going to be where my artistry deserves to be right now. I feel like I've finally cracked it, girl!' Rihanna insisted there was 'no genre' for the album, and she has been determined to make the next batch of songs something 'matching [her] evolution.' This summer Rihanna serves as a voice actor and producer for The Smurfs, a film based on the loveable blue characters. Rhianna plays the iconic Smurfette in the upcoming movie. She dropped a new song Friend of Mine this week, the first from the soundtrack to the movie. Friend Of Mine debuted at No. 72 on the singles charts, a disappointing start for the singer's first new song in nine years. Rihanna hasn't seen a track of hers peak that low in almost a decade. The last time it did, was in March 2106 when Consideration, her collab with SZA debuted at number 88.
