Angellica Bell swipes at Martin Lewis as she reacts to savage show sacking

TV presenter Angelica Bell has opened up about how she was 'hurt' after being brutally axed from The Martin Lewis Money Show in 2023 as she felt shunned by her former colleagues Angellica Bell has taken aim at Martin Lewis after her brutal sacking from his ITV money saving show. The 49-year-old TV presenter was seen breaking down in the Diary Room on her recent stint on Celebrity Big Brother as she confessed her feelings on her 'secret sacking' from The Martin Lewis Money Show in 2023. The star found out just days before filming commenced that she was being given the axe. Producers claimed that Angellica had created a conflict of interest by appearing on Channel 5's The Gadget Show, which was rebranded to become Shop Smart, Save Money. ‌ Now Angellica has confessed that she felt hurt and let down by the people she had worked with as she slammed them for showing no consideration to her after her departure. She said: 'I think I was hurt because it wasn't my fault. You work with people, you go through so much and build up bonds, and when that's gone, with no card, no thanks, it's really hard." ‌ Speaking to The Sun Angellica continued: 'I'm a nobody in this business – I'm at the bottom of the food chain, so when it changed, it changed a lot for me, not just emotionally, but financially, too. "When you love something – you love the show, the audience and the people who work on it – and then it's gone. . . I was sad.' However, she confirmed she hasn't held a grudge and "respects" the decision that was made to sack her in such brutal fashion. She said: 'Things happen, things change. I respect the decision, but I think the way it was handled. . . People need to take care of people's feelings. 'I always try to treat people how I want to be treated. Sometimes, I put other people's feelings above mine. But not everyone works the same way. It is what it is.' Angellica found herself doing CBB so that she could show audiences the real her after what she had been through. ‌ She admitted she had 'never been offered a reality show before,' and that when she was approached to appear on Celebrity Big Brother she found herself questioning why they would invite her to appear as she "would never class myself as a celebrity." But as a fan of the show she decided to take the plunge despite her 'fear of the unknown," and how "the last couple of years have been a bit tricky." Angellica added: 'I wanted to find and reconnect with myself, and I thought: 'Maybe this is the time that I need to just be me.' I've done a lot of growing up in this business and I thought this would be a chance to have fun and to relinquish control. "I'm so chuffed I did it, I had the best time. I lasted longer than I thought I would, and I made some connections with people I never expected.'

Channel 5 axes show that has been on for over 20 years after rebrand attempt failed

Channel 5 has decided to pull the plug on The Gadget Show after an impressive 21-year run. In a recent overhaul, the programme was rebranded as Shop Smart, Save Money in 2023, but now it appears that this iteration too has been cancelled, as reported by The Sun. The show's shift from cutting-edge tech to a wider range of consumer topics didn't sit well with its audience. An insider shared with the newspaper: "The Gadget Show had a loyal following for years but fans were left less than impressed when C5 played with the established format. "It resulted in long-term viewers tuning out for good, while others slowly dwindled away. Between production changes and fan-favourite presenters being replaced, the show lost its appeal. After weighing up production costs a decision was made to scrap the series," they added. Originally, the show featured Jon Bentley and Ortis Deley as hosts, alongside other well-known faces such as Craig Charles, Jason Bradbury, and Suzi Perry. However, with the rebranding, Gaby Roslin and Ortis Deley took over as the main hosts, and Angellica Bell departed after just one season. In a poignant moment on Celebrity Big Brother this week, Angellica became tearful as she opened up about her sudden departure from The Martin Lewis Money Show "without warning", which was attributed to a "conflict of interest" due to her role on Shop Smart, Save Money. The producers felt that her involvement in both shows presented a clash, leading to her dismissal. Angellica revealed on CBB: "Before I came in here, I was a little bit scared. The press were asking if I'd talk about the Martin Lewis show and stuff. It took me a long time to get over that. "I'm so grateful to all the audience that messaged me about it and also to other celebrities who contacted me and stuff," she added. The current mood amongst fans is one of disappointment following the announcement, with tweets rolling in such as: "Gutted to see the end of an era with The Gadget Show's rebrand Shop Smart, Save Money being axed. "Never did win that Gadget Show competition for sixteen 4K Ultra HD Samsung TVs with all the latest consoles on release. A great show for the techies and nerds of the world." Another fan was nostalgic for the original show: "So sad! I miss the good old days when Craig Charles was on it."

Huge Channel 5 show cancelled after 21 years following controversial rebrand

Fans hit out at the revamped version of The Gadget Show, saying it no longer catered to their tech needs. Channel 5 has pulled the plug on one of its longest-running shows after a rebrand that failed to win over its loyal fanbase. When The Gadget Show first started airing in 2004 it became a staple for tech enthusiasts across the UK, with its deep dives into the latest gadgets, product testing, and tech challenges. But in 2023 show bosses decided to shake things up, rebranding the programme as The Good Gadget Guide: Shop Smart, Save Money, and shifting its focus from cutting-edge tech to broader consumer advice. ‌ Presenters Gaby Roslin and Ortis Deley were brought in as the new faces of the reimagined series, following the departure of Angellica Bell. But the fresh format and new name failed to resonate with long-time viewers. A TV insider told The Sun: "The Gadget Show had a loyal following for years, but fans were left less than impressed when Channel 5 played with the established format. "It resulted in long-term viewers tuning out for good, while others slowly dwindled away. Between production changes and fan-favourite presenters being replaced, the show lost its appeal. After weighing up production costs, a decision was made to scrap the series." ‌ Although Channel 5 previously defended the rebrand, insisting it would allow the show to appeal to "a broader audience" while offering "valuable insights in the realm of technology", that soon proved not to be the case. When The Good Gadget Guide first started airing, a spokesperson addressed unhappy fans, saying: "While the latest series has proved popular, we acknowledge that there has been some negative feedback regarding the recent format change. "We understand that change can sometimes be met with mixed reactions, and we appreciate the feedback we have received from our viewers. ‌ "Our goal is to strike a balance that appeals to a diverse audience while staying true to our commitment of providing valuable and engaging content in the world of technology." Long-term fans of the original Gadget Show were saddened by the show's decreased focus on tech, and some have turned to YouTube instead to rewatch classic episodes featuring presenters like Jason Bradbury, Suzi Perry, Jon Bentley, Craig Charles, and Georgie Barrat. Fan have criticised the revamp on social media. One viewer wrote: "You ruined the show the moment you tried to turn it into a bargain-hunting segment." Another added: "They should have left it as it was. If I wanted money-saving tips, I'd watch Shop Well for Less." After the format overhaul, the series ran for just four seasons before being dropped. Last year production company North One launched a tech podcast hosted by the show's original stars, Jason and Suzi, in an attempt to recapture some of its former magic. At its peak The Gadget Show was known for innovative segments, live challenges, and on-location testing. However, many felt the recent shift in focus robbed the series of its most interesting parts.
