Beatport and Miller Genuine Draft Want To Back Your Favorite Music Venues
It's not hard to see the effects of the pandemic on the nightlife industry. Over the past few years, almost 30% of music venues in Europe have faced closure, while many others have tackled several operational challenges. With artists and event organizers banding together to preserve the industry through movements like 'Save Our Scene,'BeatportandMiller Genuine Draftare now playing their part in a brand new initiative.
Set to launch this month, the Grassroots Venue Fund aims to support independent venues with €60,000 EUR (approx. $68,000 USD) dedicated to infrastructure upgrades and programming initiatives. In an official statement, Yasemin Kosereisoglu, Director of Client Relations & Creative Production at The Beatport Group, says, 'This fund represents a shared commitment to the future of electronic music. By supporting independent venues in key markets, we're investing in the infrastructure that keeps our culture alive.'
Having featured in Miller and Beatport'sprevious project, which platformed rising DJs and producers, the brands will focus on Turkey, Hungary, Georgia, and Australia for this particular initiative. With each location boasting a unique yet notably overlooked nightlife scene, their investment hopes to support existing music communities for the long run, bringing in increased attention on a global scale.
For the launch of the Grassroots Venue Fund, the four locations will go under the spotlight in a series of events, recently kicking off with DJ Deborah de Luca in Istanbul. Fans can also look forward to a Nora En Pure-headlined showcase in Budapest this September and other nights in Australia and Georgia later this year.
