Rapper Tory Lanez, who is serving 10 years for shooting Megan Thee Stallion in 2020, has been rushed to hospital after he was stabbed 14 times. The hip-hop artist, 32, was attacked by another inmate at the California Correctional Institution in Tehachapi, north of Los Angeles, on May 12. According to his social media page, Lanez, real name Daystar Peterson, suffered two collapsed lungs and was placed on 'breathing apparatus'. His team confirmed he was stabbed a total of 14 times, including seven back wounds, four in his torso, two in the back of his head and one to the left side of his face. Images of Lanez immediately after the attack have now been released, with footage of the attack also showing the altercation taking place in the prison. Images showed the artist topless with white shorts covered in blood. His face and torso were also covered in blood. Days after the attack, Lanez's team confirmed that he was able to breathe on his own and also confirmed he is 'talking normally' and in 'good spirits' despite being in pain. The attack happened around 7.20am local time on Monday, May 12, Pedro Calderón Michel of the state's corrections department told Metro at the time. Prison staff performed first aid on the rapper before he was rushed to hospital, Michel added, confirming an investigation is underway and the rapper was in 'fair condition'. Peterson was allegedly attacked by a fellow inmate Santino Casio, who is serving a life sentence with the possibility of parole for second-degree murder, first-degree attempted murder, personal use of a dangerous or deadly weapon, and inflicting great bodily injury. More Trending TMZ reports that after Peterson was transported to an off-site hospital, Lanez was airlifted to Kern Medical Hospital due to the seriousness of his condition after he was stabbed with a 'prison shank'. The 30-year-old accused her former friend of shooting her in the feet after a violent argument as she left a party in July 2020. She was left wounded after the shooting and needed to undergo surgery to remove bullet fragments from her feet. Lanez was arrested at the scene for carrying a concealed weapon but denied shooting her for months after the incident, at one point suggesting there was a smear campaign against him. Appearing in court in 2022, the Wanna Be rapper – real name Megan Pete – became emotional as she recalled the shooting, telling the jury that she wished she hadn't survived her ordeal. In December 2022, a jury in LA found the Say It rapper guilty of three felonies. The jury deliberated for one day in August 2023 before convicting Lanez. He was convicted of assault with a semiautomatic firearm, having a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle, and discharging a firearm with gross negligence. Got a story? Tory Lanez's Attacker Breaks His Silence After Leaked Footage Of the Stabbing Goes Viral

Just when the dust was beginning to settle for Tory Lanez following discussions on whether he should seek a retrial in his case, the plot continues to twist. An inmate has come forward claiming responsibility for the Toronto rapper's recent stabbing, even claiming that there is a rumored bounty on his life. Previously reported by The Root, the 'Say It' artist was attacked on May 12 at the California Correctional Center. According to reports, Santino Casio, an inmate who is already serving a life sentence for an unrelated offense, shared with TMZ that he stabbed Lanez 14 times after hearing rumors that there was a 'bounty on his head.' Footage of the attack has since been leaked. Casio, who was in the neighboring cell, claimed that he heard rumors through other inmates that there was a bounty on Tory's life. After the two men had a verbal exchange, Casio claims he thought his life was in danger when he saw a suspicious bulge in his pocket. 'What he showed me, to me, looked like a weapon at the time,' Casio reflected. 'So I rushed him, and I just snatched him…I took advantage of him. I threw him all over. I kept slamming him and stabbing him.' Although Casio claims that he had no intention of killing Tory, he alleges that he was acting in self-defense after being stabbed in the leg. He emphasized that the whole situation was unexpected because he and Lanez had a decent relationship in prison. 'Yea, we were cool,' Casio said. 'We were chill. We ate, we drank, we partied, we kicked it! Yeah, we were good.' However, Casio said he does not regret what he did. Aside from being remorseful for the incident, he said he's not giving an apology. Tory sustained several injuries, including seven stab wounds to the back, four to the torso, two to the back of the head, and one across the face. Both of his lungs collapsed as a result of the attack. Born Daystar Peterson, Tory was convicted in 2022 for shooting rapper Megan Thee Stallion during a heated argument in July 2020. He is currently serving a 10-year prison sentence. Despite ongoing claims of new evidence in the case, there is no word on whether Tory's conviction will be overturned. The shooting case drew widespread attention due to the high-profile nature of both artists involved. Peterson has maintained his innocence throughout the trial, but the conviction led to his current prison sentence. Where Is Tory Lanez Now? All About the Rapper's Life in Prison After Shooting Megan Thee Stallion

In December 2022, rapper Tory Lanez was found guilty of shooting singer Megan Thee Stallion two years prior "The Color Violet" singer was given a 10-year prison sentence in August 2023 On May 12, the rapper's team confirmed on Instagram that he was stabbed in prison by a fellow inmateTory Lanez is still facing the fallout from his 2020 shooting of Megan Thee Stallion. Lanez (né Daystar Peterson) first gained popularity in the music industry through his hit single "Say It," before being thrust into a highly-publicized incident with Megan in the summer of 2020. The pair had been leaving a California pool party when Lanez shot the "Savage" singer in the foot. In December 2022, Lanez was found guilty of three charges. Following an emotional trial — where Megan testified — Lanez was sentenced to 10 years in prison. In April 2023, Megan told Elle that his guilty verdict "was a victory for every woman who has ever been shamed, dismissed, and blamed for a violent crime committed against them." More recently, on May 12, Lanez made headlines again when he was stabbed by a fellow inmate in prison. So where is Tory Lanez now? Here's everything to know about Tory Lanez's life in prison after shooting Megan Thee Stallion. In July 2020, Lanez and Megan got into an altercation while leaving Kylie Jenner's pool party in Hollywood Hills, Calif. (According to Megan, they had a friendly relationship before the incident.) During an argument in the car, Lanez allegedly directed expletives at Megan and her friend. Megan then exited the vehicle, but tried to get back inside once she realized she didn't know the area. According to prosecutors in court, Lanez allegedly shouted "Dance, bitch!" before shooting a pistol at Megan's feet, resulting in injuries that required surgery that night. Megan subsequently spent four days in a hospital to treat her wounds. During a 2021 court hearing, a detective stated that Lanez reportedly apologized for shooting Megan and asked her not to report it to authorities, per Rolling Stone. In October 2020, the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office announced that Lanez was charged with one felony count each of assault with a semiautomatic firearm, personal use of a firearm and carrying a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle. He pleaded not guilty to the charges in November 2020. After a nine-day trial in December 2022, Lanez was found guilty of assault with a semiautomatic firearm, carrying a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle and discharging a firearm with gross negligence. In August 2023, Lanez was sentenced to 10 years in prison. The month of the shooting, Megan opened up about the "scary" incident during an Instagram Live, saying, "It was just the worst experience of my life and it's not funny." During an April 2023 conversation with Elle, she explained that she fell "into a depression" in the aftermath of the shooting. 'I didn't feel like making music. I was in such a low place that I didn't even know what I wanted to rap about," she said. "There would be times that I'd literally be backstage or in my hotel, crying my eyes out, and then I'd have to pull Megan Pete together and be Megan Thee Stallion.' The Grammy winner said that she is now "in a happier place," though she still has "anxiety." "Talking about being shot still makes me emotional. I've started journaling as a way to better process my thoughts, hopes, and fears," she said. "Prayer has also played a therapeutic role in my healing, because I can have honest and unfiltered conversations with God without any judgment.' The rapper continued, 'But that's the process of healing: It's an ongoing process with moments of fear and uncertainty mixed in with blissful realization. I've accepted this chapter of my life as part of my journey, but I will not allow it to define my journey. I've been dragged through the mud, but I'm so happy that I'm able to finally come out of it with a new perspective.' Megan added that she didn't want to call herself a "victim," and instead wanted to be viewed as a "survivor." In June 2023, Lanez shared an Instagram post from prison, telling his friends, family and fans that he is still "in high spirits." "I have spent the last 7 months rehabilitating my mind, my body and my soul," he wrote. "Though I came to jail a good person, I will leave as a great person." A few days after he received his sentence in August 2023, Lanez posted a message to his fan base on Instagram, writing, "I will never let no jail time eliminate me." "Regardless of how they try to spin my words, I have always maintained my innocence and I always will," he continued. "This week in court I took responsibility for all verbal and intimate moments that I shared with the parties involved.... That's it. In no way shape or form was I apologizing for the charges I'm being wrongfully convicted of." He continued, "I remain on the stance that I refuse to apologize for something that I did not do." Now serving his 10-year prison sentence at the California Correctional Institution at Tehachapi, Calif., Lanez has released music. He launched a "Prison Tapes" series, in which he released several singles from behind bars, though he wrote on Instagram in September 2024 that the project had been discontinued. In March 2025, he released an album titled Peterson. Tory Lanez was previously married to Raina Nancy Chassagne, with whom he shares a son, Kai'lon. Per court documents obtained by PEOPLE, they married on June 25, 2023. Less than a year after the couple wed, Chassagne filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences. According to her filing, Chassagne did not request spousal support, though she is seeking sole legal and physical custody of their son. On May 12, hours after TMZ reported that Lanez had allegedly been stabbed by another prison inmate, the rapper's team confirmed the news in a statement posted to his Instagram. "Tory was stabbed 14 times - including 7 wounds to his back, 4 to his torso, 2 to the back of his head, and 1 to the left side of his face. Both of his lungs collapsed, and he was placed on a breathing apparatus. He is now breathing on his own," the statement read. The post continued to say that "despite being in pain," Lanez is "talking normally in good spirits" and "deeply thankful to God that he is pulling through." Per The Los Angeles Times, the attack — in which a fellow inmate stabbed him with a self-made shank — occurred at about 7:20 a.m. in a housing unit at the California prison. He was then rushed by an ambulance to a nearby hospital, where he remains in stable condition. According to the outlet, the incident is currently being investigated by the California Correctional Institute and the Kern County District Attorney's Office. Read the original article on People
