Malaysia's junior bowlers strike gold twice in Doha

PETALING JAYA: Malaysia's bowlers were on a roll at the Asian Junior Championships by delivering a golden double in the team events at the Doha International Bowling Centre on Thursday (July 31).
The boys' team clinched gold in a dramatic fashion, amassing 5,198 pinfalls to edge Kuwait by just two pins (5,196) in a nail-biting finish. Hosts Qatar settled for bronze with 5,052 pinfalls.
The gold-winning quartet comprised Hafiz Azhlan, Sayed Abdullah, Aqil Faizal, and Wan Mohd Zarif Mazlan.
In the girls' event, Adelia Nur Syazalee, Natalie Chong, Intan Nor Azliman, and Qurratu'Ain Izdihar Pozi dominated the lanes to secure the top podium spot with a total of 4,775 pinfalls.
Taiwan followed in second with 4,563, while Malaysia's second team of Nursyarafana Amri, Nurul Dayana Suhaidan, Helena Jamal, and Balqis Nurdini Khairul grabbed bronze with 4,456.
The star of the tournament so far has been Qurratu'Ain, who now boasts four gold medals (singles, doubles, team, and All-Events), making her one of the standout performers in Doha.
Malaysia currently lead the overall medal standings with four golds and two bronzes.
