HH Sayyid Bilarab visits Thawani Technologies

Muscat: HH Sayyid Bilarab bin Haitham Al Said, Honorary President of the Programme of Omani Promising Startups (POPS), today visited 'Thawani Technologies', the first licensed financial technology company in the Sultanate of Oman. The visit comes as part of a series of visits aimed at motivating promising startups, understanding their aspirations, and enhancing their role in the national economy. During the visit, HH Sayyid Bilarab toured the facilities of 'Thawani', which was established in 2016 and has successfully introduced innovative payment solutions that meet local market demands while supporting national digital transformation efforts under Oman Vision 2040. The company showcased its key achievements in deploying advanced technologies, including smartphone solutions, facial and palm biometric payment systems, artificial intelligence (AI), deep learning, and secure payment cards. It also highlighted its notable local and international accomplishments, such as winning the Innovation Unit Award for Entrepreneurship in 2020 and the Best FinTech Company in the Middle East Award in 2024. During the meeting with HH Sayyid Bilarab, the company's specialists presented their regional expansion plans, which include entering regional and international markets to strengthen the presence of Omani startups abroad. HH Sayyid Bilarab lauded the company's successes in leveraging modern technologies to enhance digital payment and collection systems, emphasizing the importance of startups continuing to develop their capabilities and keep pace with global innovations. Accompanying HH Sayyid Bilarab during the visit were Eng. Said bin Hamoud Al Maawali, Minister of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology; Dr. Saif bin Abdullah Al Haddabi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Higher Education, Research, and Innovation for Research and Innovation; Eng. Said bin Abdullah Al Mantheri, CEO of Oman Information and Communications Technology Group (ITHCA); and members of the Supervisory Committee of the Programme of Omani Promising Startups (POPS).

Oman Across Ages Museum hosts Architecture Revival Initiative

Muscat: The initiative to revive Omani architecture, and showcase associated innovation with the architectural design concluded at Oman Across Ages Museum in the wilayat of Manah on Saturday. The initiative, organised by the Office of His Highness Sayyid Bilarab bin Haitham Al Said, continued from February 19 to February 22. The Architecture Revival Initiative is in pursuance of the first and second editions of the Bilarab Bin Haitham Award for Architectural Design, in addition the competition to design Oman Pavilion at Expo 2025 Japan. The initiative targets various sectors of society related with architectural design in the Sultanate of Oman, including specialists, experts and students involved in the field. The programme has received the attention of His Highness Sayyid Bilarab bin Haitham Al Said, who decided to boost its awareness for being one of the important components of the national identity. The initiative showcased in the corner of Bilarab bin Haitham Award for Architectural Design displays the achievements and gives an interactive experience for revitalisation of architecture. The corner provides the visitors with the opportunity to acquaint themselves with the stages of the first and second editions of Bilarab Award for Architectural Design; the winning projects of the initiative and the projects winning the competition on the design of the Sultanate's pavilion in Expo 2025 Japan. The first edition of the award dealt with development of the designated site at Hayy Al Mina in the wilayat of Muttrah located between the seafront and Muttrah Fish Market with a total area of 7,500 sq. metres. The second edition of the award introduced a competition on the design of the Sultanate's pavilion at Expo 2025 Japan, the winners of which is a team comprising Bayan bint Masalam Al Ramadani; Ammar Abudulhamid Al Kiyomi; and Nairah bint Khamis Al Hinai. The team employed the idea of Omani falajs in their project. The video presentation, screened during the ceremony , took the visitors to a journey on the first and second editions of Bilarab bin Haitham Award for Architectural Design; the project winning the design of the Sultanate's pavilion at Expo 2025 Japan and the announcement of the third edition of Bilarab bin Haitham Award for Architectural Design, scheduled for the end of the current year. The interactive experience of the initiative dealt with three key pillars in the field of architecture and revitalisation of architecture in Oman. The interactive experience reviewed some architectural expressions of the initiative for prominent Omani personalities, mainly Honourable Lady Sayyida Ahad bint Abdullah Al Busaidi, spouse of His Majesty the Sultan and His Highness Sayyid Theyazin bin Haitham Al Said, Minister of Culture, Sports and Youth.

Manah, 20 Feb (ONA) --- HH Sayyid Bilarab bin Haitham Al Said presided over the launch of an initiative to revive ancient architecture at Oman Across Ages Museum in the Wilayat of Manah today. The ceremony was attended by Royal Family members, ministers, senior officials and experts in architectural design. HH Sayyid Bilarab took note of the goals of the initiative, which include the following: Reviving the Omani architectural identity by enhancing awareness about the value of architectural design as a component of national identity; encouraging the community to explore Omani architecture and understand its cultural, social and economic impact; highlighting models of innovation established by Omani architects over the past centuries; identifying the methods that Omani architects used in design and construction with the aim of encouraging the use of those methods in a manner that enhances architectural heritage and generate successful models that integrate innovation with heritage; engaging different segments of society in dialogues and discussions about architectural design; promoting an environment that supports creativity and leadership and boosting an architect's opportunities in the Omani labour market. Then, he toured the pavilion dedicated to the 'Bilarab Bin Haitham Award for Architectural Design' and viewed 3D models of projects that won first place in the 1st and 2nd editions of the Award. The pavilion also showcased the project that won the competition to design Oman's pavilion at the forthcoming Expo 2025 Japan. HH Sayyid Bilarab then watched a visual presentation about ongoing action, since the launch of the first edition of the Bilarab Bin Haitham Award for Architectural Design, until the launch of the Architecture Revival Initiative. The visual presentation included the new structure, spearheaded by the Bilarab Bin Haitham Initiatives, which includes the Bilarab Bin Haitham Community, the Bilarab Bin Haitham Award for Architectural Design and the Bilarab Bin Haitham Programmes. This is in addition to the announcement of the date of the 3rd edition of the Bilarab Bin Haitham Award for Architectural Design, scheduled to be launched towards the end of 2025. HH Sayyid Bilarab was briefed about the interactive experience of reviving three pillars of architecture—ongoing education, innovation and market readiness—which all serve to enhance conventional architecture and its revival in the Sultanate of Oman. Ongoing education in the field of architecture focuses on architectural inspiration by reviewing prominent architectural experiences. Innovation highlights the techniques, methods and added value that is immortalized by the Omani architect and using the same for the restoration of old villages and neighbourhoods to transform them into sustainable tourist destinations that preserve the heritage, fit with the surrounding environment, support economic development and meet human needs. Market readiness enables parties to fully understand the job market in the field of architecture and highlights awareness about the most prominent professional tracks related to architectural design. This will enhance the graduates' readiness to enter the job market, discover available employment opportunities and establish communication networks between students, experts and business owners. It is worth noting that the Architecture Revival Initiative is in pursuance of the first and second editions of the Bilarab Bin Haitham Award for Architectural Design, in addition the competition to design Oman Pavilion at Expo 2025 Japan. The competition seeks to enrich the architectural field in the Sultanate of Oman. The initiative targets various segments of society interested in architectural design, fanatics of architecture, experts and students studying this field.

The initiative highlights innovation in architecture by showcasing the methods used by Omanis throughout different eras, advanced design and construction techniques, and encouraging their use to enhance architectural heritage. It also aims to engage various community segments in discussions and debates about architecture, provide a supportive environment for creativity and entrepreneurship, and enhance opportunities for architectural professionals in the Omani job market. Over three days, the initiative will discuss three main pillars aimed at serving and reviving the architectural field in Oman: continuous education, innovation, and market readiness.
