'Love Island USA' host Ariana Madix reveals she eavesdrops on contestants: 'I love gossip'
'Love Island USA' host Ariana Madix reveals she eavesdrops on contestants: 'I love gossip' Show Caption Hide Caption 'Love Island USA' host Ariana Madix on if she watches 'The Valley' "Love Island USA" host Ariana Madix explains to USA TODAY's Ralphie Aversa what it would take to get her back on Bravo reality TV show. NEW YORK – As a reality TV star in her own right, Ariana Madix is uniquely qualified to host a show like "Love Island USA." In the reality competition returning Tuesday, June 3, for Season 7 (streaming daily this week on Peacock), singles attempt to couple up and compete for a $100,000 prize. "It's not easy to put yourself out there in a dating sense, but let alone a dating world that the entire world is watching," Madix tells USA TODAY of the contestants on "Love Island USA." Madix, the 39-year-old, perhaps best known for her run on Bravo's "Vanderpump Rules," knows about fearlessness in love. "They're so brave. I always hope that they have fun, too. Because that was something I loved about last season," she said. "There was drama, but there was such beautiful friendship as well." Drama melding with friendship is also an apt description of the precursor to her very public halt from "Vanderpump" when Madix's boyfriend of nine years, Tom Sandoval, cheated on her with another one of their co-stars, Rachel "Raquel" Leviss. Dubbed the "Scandoval," it played out while Bravo cameras were rolling for the TV show in 2023. Madix has a front row seat to all of it. The actress and Broadway performer returns to "Love Island USA" after hosting Season 6. Madix reveals that on a typical day in Fiji, she'll work out at the hotel gym for three hours. Then she heads to the makeup chair: Madix says her hair and makeup typically take about two hours. The glam team saves the last 15 minutes until they know for sure that Madix will be heading in to film. "We watch the live feeds of what's going on in the villa, which is really fun," Madix dishes of how she and the team spend their time before the host is needed. "You can change the channels between the groups of people and what they're talking about. I love gossip and I love to eavesdrop, so it's perfect for me." Would Ariana Madix ever star in a Bravo reality TV show again after 'Scandoval'? Madix is very happy with her career at the moment. She reflects that before her role on "Vanderpump Rules," the actress would hold down "four or five different jobs at once" to pay rent. "Now that I'm able to have jobs that I really enjoy doing, I get to live my dream out," she says, noting she still gets to try different things, from authoring a cocktail book to running a restaurant (she co-owns the West Hollywood spot Something About Her with fellow "Vanderpump" alum Katie Maloney). "I really appreciate when people just let it happen and don't try to box (other) people in, because I find that really stifling in a lot of ways." Amid her various projects, Madix won't rule out a return to Bravo. But there's a catch. "It's hard to say what that would be," she says of a show that could get her back on the network. "I think for me to be in that type of position where I am putting myself out there, I would want to be in charge. I would definitely want to be executive producer. So I would probably fight for that in any capacity to be back in that space."

Katie Maloney slams Vanderpump rules reboot; 'It feels cheap'
Maloney, 38, who appeared in all 11 seasons of the hit reality series, opened up about her feelings on the April 22 episode of Detox Retox, the podcast hosted by her former co-star and ex-husband, Tom Schwartz . Though Maloney won't be returning for the reboot, she had strong words for the network's decision to continue the show with fresh faces. 'This isn't against any of [the new cast],' Maloney said. 'I don't know them, but it just feels cheap to me. It feels cheap and I don't like cheap.'She went on to criticize the idea of replicating the magic of the original series, which launched in 2013 as a Real Housewives of Beverly Hills spinoff centered around Lisa Vanderpump and the staff of her West Hollywood restaurant, SUR. 'You can't replicate a recipe,' Maloney said. 'It's the same name [but] different show. There's not even a season 1. To me, it just feels like it's going to try to have the same flavor and the same everything.' While some fans may be surprised by her stance, Maloney revealed she had already decided to walk away from the show before Bravo announced its plans for a reboot. In a December 2024 episode of her own podcast, Disrespectfully, she shared that she'd informed producers of her decision after filming wrapped on season 11. 'I had made a decision months ago after this past season. I needed to move on with my life,' she explained. 'Mentally, emotionally, physically, spiritually, I was prepared to move on from the show.' Maloney's departure followed the highly publicized 'Scandoval' — a cheating scandal involving castmates Tom Sandoval and Rachel Leviss, which rocked season 11 and resulted in strained relationships, especially with Sandoval's longtime girlfriend and fellow cast member Ariana Madix. The fallout was captured on-camera, despite Madix maintaining a strict no-contact rule with Sandoval during filming. The final reunion episode of season 11 aired in May 2024. Though Maloney won't be part of the show's next chapter, her candid commentary is a reminder of how much the original Vanderpump Rules cast helped define the franchise — and why attempting to recreate that lightning in a bottle may be a tall order.

Vanderpump Rules original cast member calls Lisa's new reboot 'cheap'
has offered her honest opinion on the cast reboot for the upcoming 12th season of Bravo's Vanderpump Rules. The TV personality, 38 - who had been one of the original cast members on the reality series since 2013 - opened up about the topic on an episode of the Detox Retox podcast hosted by her ex-husband and former costar Tom Schwartz. Late last year in November, it was announced that the show would be getting an entirely new cast - with only Lisa Vanderpump returning. It came after the future of the series was left rocky amid a feuding cast. 'I was ready to walk away but it doesn't mean [I] don't care about our show and the legacy that we brought to it,' Katie told Schwartz - whom she was married to from 2013 until their divorce in 2022. She then added, 'I feel like this isn't against any of them. I don't know them but it just feels cheap to me. It feels cheap and I don't like cheap.' Maloney emphasized that she wasn't slamming the new cast, but instead wondered why the network just didn't create 'a whole different show.' She explained, 'To me it just feels like it's going try to have the same flavor, the same everything…. When you try to replicate the recipe just based off of taste, you can't do it.' The most recent 11th season - which finished airing last year - had featured Katie as well as Ariana Madix, Tom Sandoval, Tom Schwartz, Lala Kent, James Kennedy and Scheana Shay. However, episodes focused on the disputes and conflicts between the cast not long after Scandoval - where Sandoval cheated on his longtime girlfriend Ariana Madix with Rachel Leviss. The new cast will consist of 'close-knit SUR-vers who are as complicatedly involved with one another as their iconic predecessor,' per Bravo. Lisa expressed at the time of the reboot announcement: 'The last 12 years of filming have been an extraordinary run full of laughter, tears and everything in between. I can't thank enough those who have shared their lives. 'How I love you all. In the restaurant business, one shift always gives way to another. Cheers to the next generation of Vanderpump Rules.' The reboot will also 'celebrate the past decade of heartbreaks, friendship rifts and scandals with a retrospective special highlighting the past 11 seasons.' Sandoval also broke his silence after the news of the reboot was unveiled - and admitted on Instagram in November of last year that he was 'overwhelmed' with feelings. Lisa expressed at the time of the reboot announcement: 'The last 12 years of filming have been an extraordinary run full of laughter, tears and everything in between. I can't thank enough those who have shared their lives'; seen in 2024 in Beverly Hills 'Where do I begin… I'm overwhelmed with so many emotions right now… The unbelievable series of events that brought this group together still blows my mind to this day.' He added, 'From a random meeting with Jax [Taylor] while modeling in Miami, to responding to a Craigslist ad for another Tom looking for a roommate. 'Who would've thought that a stop along the way while chasing our dreams would turn into the cultural phenomenon that is Vanderpump Rules. We were unaware as to the effect this show would have on our lives.' Tom also told his followers, 'The foundation of Vanderpump Rules was built on pure honest raw emotions… triumphs, struggles, and love that happen between a group of real friends and our relationships.' In conclusion, the reality sent gratitude to those involved in the show as well as the fans. A few months earlier in February, Lisa revealed that the forthcoming season is set to feature some 'very interesting characters.' Vanderpump told Us Weekly she is convinced that the show's new stars will prove to be just as popular as the originals. 'I got some very interesting characters for sure, but SUR (her restaurant) has been around a long time, and as I say, it's a show we could have shot 12 months of the year,' she told the outlet. The restauranteur is convinced that the new cast will create lots of drama, too. She shared: 'When you have a restaurant, especially in Hollywood, with a revolving door of beautiful people who are all kind of normally rather large personalities because they come to Hollywood for a reason, it's always complicated.' The British TV personality went on, 'I am sure it's gonna be very different with these young little minxes when they get to work, but we shall see.' Lisa previously predicted that Vanderpump Rules would return with a 'different energy' for season 12. The reality star told E! News: 'I think everything we do is going to have a different energy to it. 'Not gonna try and compete with the old Vanderpump Rules. It's just gonna be totally different there. 'Still, we'll go back to the premise of the complications of running a restaurant and the staff in it. And that always has a story to tell.' Lisa shared that she had a 'wonderful experience' filming with the show's original cast. But she recognizes that now is the perfect time to make a change. Lisa shared that she had a 'wonderful experience' filming with the show's original cast. But she recognizes that now is the perfect time to make a change; cast seen back in 2018 She said: 'It was time to do something different. Stories were kind of closing up a little bit. I think people, they weren't that shocked that we decided to do this now.' Kristen Doute - who starred on Vanderpump Rules from 2013 until her exit in 2020 - also shared her thoughts on the cast reboot. 'I could not be happier not filming Vanderpump Rules,' she told Deadline earlier this month. 'Vanderpump Rules for me, was like the most toxic boyfriend, and if they hadn't broken up with me, I probably would have never left.' Doute is currently starring in the second season of Bravo's The Valley - and some Vanderpump Rules alum are

Report: Vanderpump Rules Bar TomTom Suffers ‘Big Loss' Amid Lisa Vanderpump Rebrand Rumors
alums Tom Sandoval and Tom Schwartz's TomTom bar has been undergoing some major renovations in recent weeks. Speculation is rampant that may be rebranding the struggling establishment as her former Pump restaurant. Though Pump actually closed in 2023, Lisa moved the sign from her former business to TomTom. She hung the Pump sign right beside the TomTom marquee, confusing customers who wondered if they were merging. When major construction took place outside of TomTom in early March, fans were even more concerned. They wondered if, following in the steps of Schwartz & Sandy's, TomTom bar was going dark. As it turns out, the construction project had 'nothing to do with a rebrand.' The bar just needed to comply with a change in West Hollywood zoning laws. Following the end of the pandemic, WeHo notified local businesses that their expanded outdoor spaces needed to be downsized again. Everyone was required to return to their original sidewalk space to facilitate local foot traffic. Most of the other local establishments made the change weeks ago. However, TomTom only got around to it this month. Now the patio, which previously accommodated 12 outdoor tables, fireplaces, and bar seating, has only a few two-person high-tops. 'It's a bummer to not have as much outdoor space,' a TomTom employee told The U.S. Sun. 'The indoor/outdoor California lifestyle really suited this space, so it is a big loss to the restaurant.' 'Every place in the area had to do the same,' the staffer added. 'There's nothing [the owners] could've done, but it was disappointing.' The source continued, 'Not only is there less space to seat people [translating to reduced income], but it cost them a lot of money to execute.' The good news is that business has been 'steady' in recent months. The insider also reported that despite the dip in customers following the Scandoval backlash, TomTom's traffic has 'actually picked up a lot this year.' Nevertheless, the writing's on the wall for TomTom. Longtime SUR manager Peter Madrigal firmly believes it's only a matter of time until Lisa rebrands TomTom as Pump. Vanderpump Rules is currently available for streaming on Peacock. TELL US – DO YOU THINK LISA WILL EVENTUALLY REBRAND TOMTOM? Former ‘Below Deck' Crew Members Sue Bravo, NBC for Allegedly Covering Up Star's Sexual Misconduct
Former Below Deck crew members Samantha Suarez and Grey Duddleston are suing Bravo Media, NBCUniversal Media, the show's production company 51 Minds Entertainment, and Gary King, among others, claiming the network and production company behind the hit reality series covered up cast member King's alleged sexual misconduct. In the complaint filed on Tuesday and exclusively obtained by Rolling Stone, Suarez and Duddleston accuse King of 'savaging' their reputations. '51 Minds and NBC have supported King every step of the way. But they know—just as he knows—that he is guilty as sin,' the complaint alleges. More from Rolling Stone How to Watch 'The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City' Season 5 Reunion Online Free 'Vanderpump Rules' Season 12 to Feature All-New Cast in Apparent Fallout of Scandoval Tom Sandoval, Tom Schwartz Are Closing Their Bar Schwartz and Sandy's In the summer of 2022 while filming Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season Four, Suarez was employed as a hair and makeup artist and Duddleston was a camera operator. According to the complaint, when Suarez went to King's hotel room to drop off a case of water and snacks, he opened the door in his underwear and refused to take the water. Suarez claims she walked past King to put the water inside the room and on her way out, King allegedly lunged toward her and physically restrained her. 'Suarez managed to break free, ran towards the door and started to pull the door open when King, who was chasing her, got both his hands on the door and slammed it shut keeping her trapped, menacingly laughing and staring at her with evil dilated eyes,' the complaint alleges. 'Suarez was sure she would be raped.' Per the filing, another crew member called Suarez's cell phone as the incident was unfolding, and she was able to tap 'accept' to answer the call. King then allegedly released Suarez from his grip, and she was able to escape into the hallway. King, still clad only in his underwear, followed Suarez, grabbed her again from behind, and kept asking her what was wrong while he rubbed her back, the complaint claims. Bravo, NBC, 51 Minds Entertainment, and King did not immediately respond to Rolling Stone's requests for comment. According to the suit, Suarez immediately reported the incident to 51 Minds Entertainment, which then opened an investigation. The complaint alleges that King 'admitted what he had done' but was not fired. Instead, the complaint claims King was warned that he would be fired 'if something like that were to happen again.' Duddleston, who was Suarez's boyfriend at the time, claims in the suit that following the incident between King and Suarez, he witnessed King untie two female cast members' bikini tops, 'make lewd remarks to a female audio technician,' and grab two male camera operators' genitals, all during the filming of Season Four. After reporting these incidents over the crew walkie-talkie system, Duddleston alleges 51 Minds and NBC opened an investigation into him 'for inappropriate use of the walkie-talkie system.' King, meanwhile, was asked back to film Season Five of Below Deck Sailing Yacht, which finished airing on Bravo in January. Despite working for different iterations of the Below Deck franchise, Suarez for two seasons and Duddleston for 11, neither crew member was asked to return to the show after NBC's investigation. 'On information and belief, they are now on a 'do not hire' list and remain virtually unemployable in their field,' the lawsuit alleges. In addition to alleging sexual battery, assault, hostile work environment harassment, and false imprisonment as causes of action, Suarez and Duddleston — who are requesting a jury trial — are also suing over wrongful termination, retaliation, gender violence, discrimination, failure to prevent discrimination and harassment, and intentional infliction of emotional distress. The suit seeks compensatory, punitive or exemplary damages, attorneys' fees, and other relief. Suarez and Duddleston are represented by attorneys Bryan Freedman and Mark Geragos, who have been working closely with Bethenny Frankel in a public campaign questioning the working conditions on reality shows. (In August of 2023, Freedman and Geragos sent a legal letter to NBC, the parent company of Bravo, accusing the network of covering up instances of sexual violence and using manipulative tactics, among other claims.) 'It looks like the business model [of Below Deck] is: Select talent that will do whatever they want, ply them with alcohol, trap them in an environment that is just desperate for drunk and outrageous behavior, and then bring on the ratings,' Geragos tells Rolling Stone. While many of the highly publicized 'reality reckoning' lawsuits filed against Bravo have highlighted alleged mistreatment of cast members, Geragos claims Suarez and Duddleston's lawsuit 'focuses on what originally was the theme of these things, which was the exacerbating of the bad behavior in front of the camera and how this permeates the entire production.' Rolling Stone first reported on the alleged incident between King and Suarez in August 2023, speaking with two other Below Deck crew members who worked with Suarez at the time. They claimed Suarez told them about the alleged encounter during filming. One of the crew members, who requested to remain anonymous at the time because they still worked on the series and feared repercussions, also alleged that they 'constantly' witnessed King making other women on set uncomfortable with his aggressive pursuit of them. 'He's next-level scary with women,' they said at the time. Three other people who did not work for Below Deck spoke to Rolling Stone and claimed Suarez told them about the alleged incident with King at the time. Rolling Stone also reviewed emails between Suarez and Zach Klein, the chief operating officer of 51 Minds Entertainment, as well as between Suarez and an HR representative for Banijay America, the parent company of 51 Minds Entertainment, in which they discussed the incident. At the time, a spokesperson for Bravo told Rolling Stone in a statement, 'Bravo is committed to maintaining a safe and respectful workplace for cast and crew on our reality shows. We require our third-party production companies to have appropriate workplace policies and trainings in place and a clear process on how to report concerns. The concerns Ms. Suarez raised in July 2022 were investigated at that time and action was taken based on the findings.' A spokesperson for Below Deck's production company 51 Minds Entertainment also said in a statement, '51 Minds is committed to providing an environment in which every member of the casts and crews on our productions feel respected and, most importantly, safe. 51 Minds provides mandatory harassment and sensitivity training for every series it produces at the outset of each new season and lays out a clear process on how and to whom to report any questionable activity.' The statement continued, 'With any complaint filed, a timely investigation is launched and, based on the findings, appropriate actions are implemented to ensure the safety of our cast and crew, up to and including termination. With regard to the incident reported by Ms. Suarez involving Mr. King, the case was investigated and reviewed as soon as it was submitted, and production acted accordingly based on the results.' King filmed the fifth season of Below Deck Sailing Yacht in the summer of 2023, one year after Suarez reported King's alleged behavior. After Rolling Stone's story was published in August of 2023, King was removed from marketing materials and promotions for that year's BravoCon, Bravo's annual convention for fans and stars. The premiere of Season Five was also in limbo; while the show typically airs every spring, with the first four seasons starting in either February, March, or April, Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season Five eventually premiered on Bravo in October of 2024. According to Suarez's complaint, Bravo received backlash online for airing the season featuring King, and King then 'went on a rampage,' allegedly 'lambasting Suarez and Duddleston as liars, accusing them of having sought 15 minutes of fame.' Geragos calls Bravo's decision to ultimately air Season Five and stand behind King 'inexplicable.' 'It's a brazen doubling down of not just bad but abhorrent behavior,' Geragos says. 'It's Bravo conferring immunity on whoever garners them the ratings. It seems to be, if you get enough clicks and enough eyeballs it doesn't matter what your behavior is.'
