Report: Steelers not expected to trade for Dolphins Pro Bowler
Report: Steelers not expected to trade for Dolphins Pro Bowler Oh, what a difference a few days make for the Pittsburgh Steelers trade buzz. Previously, insider Adam Schefter set off a trade speculation frenzy in the Steel City — reporting that the Steelers and Dolphins had engaged in trade talks regarding Miami's Pro Bowl TE Jonnu Smith. Five days later, however, Schefter has taken a different tone on the matter. Packaged with Schefter's report on veteran WR Gabriel Davis visiting Pittsburgh, the long-time insider revealed that the Steelers were not expected to trade for Smith. Here's what he had to say on the situation: "Pittsburgh has been seeking additional receiving help and has inquired about, but is not expected to trade for, Miami TE Jonnu Smith." Insider Ian Rapoport had previously believed little would come of these trade talks — and one can't help but wonder if acquiring Smith would have made any difference for the already TE-sound Steelers offense. Report: Dolphins have discussed trade of TE Jonnu Smith to Steelers
The Dolphins have had trade discussions with the Steelers about tight end Jonnu Smith, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. Per Schefter, talks started after Smith expressed interest in reworking his deal, which is scheduled to pay him $4.8 million this season. Smith is set to become a free agent in March. His preference is to stay in Miami under a reworked deal, per Schefter. Smith earned his first Pro Bowl in 2024 and was the Steelers' lone Pro Bowler after making 88 catches for 884 yards and eight touchdowns. Those were franchise records for a tight end in all categories. He has played for the Titans (2017-20), Patriots (2021-22), Falcons (2023) and Dolphins (2024). Smith has 307 catches for 3,307 yards and 28 touchdowns since Tennessee made him a third-round pick in 2017. The Steelers have Pat Freiermuth at the top of their depth chart at the position.

Dolphins were one of 10 teams that saved the Tush Push from being banned
Dolphins were one of 10 teams that saved the Tush Push from being banned The Miami Dolphins were of 10 teams that voted to keep the "Tush Push" from being banned Wednesday, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. The play, which has been made famous by the Philadelphia Eagles in recent years, has been contested for much of the 2025 offseason after a rule change proposal was submitted by the Green Bay Packers in March. After tabling talks until May, the NFL needed 24 votes Wednesday to institute the ban. Only 22 teams voted for the Tush Push to become illegal. According to Schefter, the Eagles, Dolphins, Baltimore Ravens, Cleveland Browns, Detroit Lions, Jacksonville Jaguars, New England Patriots, New Orleans Saints, New York Jets, and Tennessee Titans voted to keep the Tush Push in the game. 'It's tough because I have a hard time making things illegal because of success," Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel said of the play when asked about it in February. "However, I think in my mind it's a different thing if it's a safety issue. "For me in the game of football, when your job is to take 11 people, possess the ball, move it down the field to try to get in the end zone to score points, I think because it's successful I have a hard time being that the teeth of the argument to move on from it. That's just my opinion; I do understand both sides.'

Patriots' tush push vote revealed in latest report from spring meeting
Patriots' tush push vote revealed in latest report from spring meeting The tush push is alive and well after all 32 teams voted on the Green Bay Packers' proposal to ban the play most often associated with the Philadelphia Eagles. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Packers failed to get the 24 votes needed to win their proposal. The final vote was reportedly 22-10 in favor of keeping the tush push in the NFL. Per Schefter, the Patriots were one of the teams that voted in support of the Eagles. The other confirmed teams that voted to keep the tush push play alive were the Baltimore Ravens, New York Jets and Detroit Lions. According to ESPN analytics, the Eagles and Buffalo Bills have the most push sneak plays since 2022. That means the Patriots still agreed to keep it in despite the possibility of them facing it against the AFC East rival Bills in the two games they play every year. Banning it might have been a slippery slope that could have led to other issues. Why stop with the tush push? What's stopping other plays from being banned that certain teams are good at implementing? At the end of the day, opposing defenses need to step up and stop the Eagles if they really have a problem with the play. Follow Patriots Wire on Twitter and Facebook.
