IIT Kharagpur launches School for Skills to train rural youth in healthcare jobs

IIT Kharagpur has announced the launch of a new facility, the School for Skills: Healthcare and Technology, designed to provide specialised healthcare training to rural and semi-urban initiative aims to prepare allied health professionals who can strengthen community-level healthcare delivery across programme has been structured to give students both academic instruction and practical exposure. Classes for the first batch of students are scheduled to begin in November about the launch, IIT Kharagpur Director Professor Suman Chakraborty highlighted the vision behind the said, 'The School for skills: Healthcare and Technology at IIT Kharagpur is more than a training hub, it is a catalyst for change. By combining skill development with cutting-edge technology, we aim to build a healthcare workforce that can serve the last mile, transform rural healthcare delivery, and contribute to the nation's vision of inclusive growth.'CERTIFICATION AND AFFILIATIONAll the programmes will run in affiliation with the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), Ministry of Skill Development and successful completion, participants will be awarded certifications from the Healthcare Sector Skill Council, a credential that will boost employability in healthcare AND FIELDWORKGraduates of the School for Skills will contribute directly to healthcare delivery. They will be deployed at the Syama Prasad Mukerji Super-Speciality Hospital on the IIT Kharagpur campus, as well as in partner hospitals and institutions.A section of the workforce will also engage in field trials and help validate healthcare technologies developed at IIT Kharagpur.
