DOHA: The Ministry of Education and Higher Education has concluded the 2025 Student Activities Summer Camps, organised in collaboration with the Ministry of Sports and Youth and a number of government agencies, educational, cultural, and community institutions. The camp ran from July 6 to August 7 , at eight summer centers in public schools, with the participation of more than 1,800 male and female students of various age groups . The summer camps aim to utilize their vacation to develop students' personal and leadership skills, discover their talents, and hone their skills in various fields. They also aim to instill national identity, values of citizenship, and social responsibility, foster creative thinking and innovation, enhance physical and mental health, raise awareness of the importance of well-being, and support sustainable education and a culture of self-development. The centers are equipped with trained administrative staff and integrated electronic systems, ensuring the accuracy of procedures and speed of completion, while fully adhering to the approved instructions issued by the ministry. These centers also provide a stimulating environment for discovering and developing students' talents, under the supervision of an elite group of educators and administrators from ministries, government and private institutions, and educational centers . This year's summer camps offered more than 550 diverse activities, covering culture, arts, creativity and design, sustainability and climate change, Islamic education, science, technology and artificial intelligence, social activities and communication skills, in addition to sports, health and proper nutrition, cybersecurity and digital solutions, as well as activities focusing on national identity and educational values . Among the most prominent activities organized by the summer centers were electronic drawing and digital design workshops, the formation of a student choir that presented a distinguished group performance, and the organization of various recreational trips that contributed to strengthening team spirit and community interaction. These included a visit by students to the Zulal Health Resort, where they engaged in a variety of health, recreational, and sports activities . The current edition also featured active parent participation, both in attendance and through delivering awareness lectures. This strengthened family bonds with the summer centers, and was clearly evident in the students' diverse talents and creativity. In this context, Maryam Ali Al-Nusf Al-Buainain, Director of the Schools and Student Affairs Department at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, emphasized the important role played by summer centers in supporting students' progress and developing their skills. She noted that "summer centers are a supportive extension of the educational system, enabling students to express their creativity, strengthening their connection to national identity and societal values, and contributing to the preparation of a confident generation capable of facing the challenges of the future." She also commended the efforts of the educational and administrative staff and volunteers, stressing that the success achieved by this edition reflects the integrated efforts of all stakeholders, especially given the comprehensiveness and diversity of the programs designed to meet students' needs and build a balanced personality, both intellectually and physically. The role of volunteers from schools and universities, particularly those in the secondary and university levels, was highlighted in the areas of organization and field support, which reinforced the values of community service, the spirit of teamwork, and a sense of responsibility among students, contributing to the success of the program and the achievement of its objectives . It's worth noting that the summer centers aim to prepare students capable of serving themselves and their communities through programs designed to suit all ages , including sports and arts activities, cultural workshops, and volunteer initiatives. These programs promote the values of cooperation and citizenship, and build a personality that contributes to community development.

‘Student registration for 2025-2026 academic year smooth, flexible'

QNA Doha The student registration process for the 2025-2026 academic year has been smooth and flexible, Director of the Schools and Student Affairs Department at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE) Maryam Ali Al Nesef Al Buainain has confirmed. After the full transition to public schools, which are responsible for implementing registration procedures, the ministry's student admission and registration department is responsible for following up on applications according to approved regulations, while ensuring balanced student distribution and avoiding overcrowding in schools. Al Buainain said that if there are no vacancies available at the school where the guardian lives through the Maaref Portal for Public Services, they can register or transfer to one of the alternative schools shown on the system. She added that if there are no vacancies at the parent's school or alternative schools, the parent can contact the school where they live to request assistance with registration or transfer, stressing that the school will contact the ministry's registration officer to provide the parent with a school that can be provided to register or transfer the student. She noted that the ministry provides a bus request service after completing initial registration, giving students the option of taking the bus or not, which contributes to the ministry's readiness to meet transportation needs for the upcoming academic year. Al Buainain explained that if documents are missing or conditions are not met, the registration request will not be rejected. Instead, a return request service will be available, giving the guardian the opportunity to complete the paperwork without losing their seat. She warned against the circulation of misinformation on social media platforms regarding the registration process, urging parents to obtain information from official sources. She emphasised that the ministry's website includes all details related to the registration process, its steps, requirements, and eligible categories. The number of new students expected to enrol this year ranges between 16,000 and 17,000. The number of government schools amounts to 218 schools for boys and girls at various levels, in addition to 65 kindergartens. Al Buainain announced the opening of two new schools this year in areas with high student density: a secondary school for boys in Umm Salal and a primary school for girls in Al Wakra. As for those with special needs, Al Buainain emphasised that public schools provide advanced support services for this group, urging parents who have not completed their file to visit one of the Roua centres to determine the student's level, thus facilitating subsequent registration. She noted the existence of high-level integration centres, with plans to open new specialised schools in the future. The director of Schools and Student Affairs Department stressed that there are no exceptions to the registration process, noting that the ministry only takes into account the student's age characteristics. If vacancies are not available at the desired school within the geographical area, the guardian must accept the alternative option. A hotline is also available to receive inquiries during official working hours.

She emphasized that the ministry seeks to open new schools in the future to reduce student density and provide schools close to student housing. As for those with special needs, Al Buainain emphasized that public schools provide advanced support services for this group, urging parents who have not completed their file to visit one of the Roua centers to determine the student's level, thus facilitating subsequent registration.
