The new trailer for Colleen Hoover's 'Regretting You' film — starring Allison Williams, Dave Franco and McKenna Grace — will make you feel everything
The film is headed to theaters Oct. 24, 2025. Passionate romance, crushing loss and deep family secrets: A new trailer just dropped for the film adaptation of Colleen Hoover's 2019 novel Regretting You, and it's looking like yet another weepy, life-affirming tale from the author that brought the world It Ends With Us. Regretting You centers on a tight-knit family. M3GHAN star Allison Williams plays Morgan, who is mom to teenager Clara with her high school sweetheart husband, Chris (Scott Eastwood). Her sister, Jenny, played by The Fall of the House of Usher star Willa Fitzgerald, is married to Jonah, portrayed by Dave Franco. At first, things seem great with the family: Clara is falling in love with 'coolest guy in school' Miller (Mason Thames). But then, as it often does in Hoover novels, tragedy strikes: Clara's aunt Jenny and father Chris die in a car accident together, leaving the rest of the family grieving … and with plenty of questions. Why were Jenny and Chris together? Could they have been having an affair? Morgan did always say her sister was a little too good at keeping secrets. Fans of the book will know how this story plays out, but you don't need to have read the novel to know you should probably bring tissues to the theater. As Franco's and Williams's characters grieve, they're pulled toward one another, just as Clara is falling in love for the first time and feeling guilty about her newfound happiness. It's a swirl of emotions for everyone! Hoover, who initially self-published her first novel, Slammed, in 2012, before she was signed by a major publisher, has become one of the most popular authors of the BookTok era, with several of her 26 novels getting the big screen treatment. The Justin Baldoni adaptation of her novel It Ends With Us hit theaters in August 2024 — and while the film has been at the center of the ongoing legal battle between Baldoni and his costar Blake Lively, it hasn't stopped additional interest in Hoover's work. In addition to Regretting You, Hoover's psychological thriller Verity will become an Amazon movie starring Dakota Johnson and Anne Hathaway, who plays the titular character. The film drops Oct. 2, 2026. Meanwhile, Hoover's latest novel, Reminders of Him, which came out in 2022, is being adapted into a film with Maika Monroe and Tyriq Withers. ‘Tin Soldier' trailer unveiled; US release set for Sep 12
Samuel Goldwyn Films has unveiled the gripping U.S. trailer for Tin Soldier, an explosive action thriller directed by Brad Furman (The Lincoln Lawyer, Runner Runner), featuring a powerhouse cast that includes Jamie Foxx, Robert De Niro, and Scott Eastwood. The film is slated to release in select theaters across the United States on September 12, 2025. Also starring John Leguizamo, Joey Bicicchi, and Rita Ora, Tin Soldier blends themes of trauma, loyalty, and manipulation with blockbuster-level action. The screenplay, co-written by Jess Fuerst and Pablo Fenjves, seeks to explore the complexities of post-war disillusionment and the vulnerabilities it can breed. Although the film has already debuted in the UK to mixed reviews—with critics divided over its "chaotic" structure and intense tone—the U.S. trailer hints at a gritty, adrenaline-fueled ride driven by strong performances and bold narrative choices. Produced by Steven Chasman, Brad Feinstein, and others, Tin Soldier promises to be a compelling entry in the genre of military thrillers with a cult twist. Whether it delivers on its ambitious premise remains to be seen.

Tin Soldier review – Jamie Foxx leads with his hairdo in thriller about a soldier infiltrating a cult
Make no mistake: this action thriller is a mangled, dreary, unlovely mess and so much less than the sum of its parts – despite relatively blameless supporting turns from Robert De Niro and John Leguizamo. There's a more culpably hammy performance from Jamie Foxx, who rocks a ginormous, weirdly contoured afro so bizarre that it's almost worth the price alone. (He is also one of many executive producers on the project.) But Foxx's tonsorial effort is not enough to counteract the fact that this is a pretty lousy film, only worth it if you like 'sneerwatching'. None of the big names mentioned above play the lead here. Instead, the hero is one Nash Cavanaugh (a name that sounds generated by an AI bot), as incarnated by a typically lumpen Scott Eastwood. Cavanaugh is a former soldier who was once drawn into the cult created by Foxx's Leon Prudhomme, also known by his much cooler cult leader moniker, the Bokushi ('pastor' in Japanese). It turns out Prudhomme was originally bankrolled by De Niro's Ashburn, a shady government agent who had hoped to create a mercenary army. But the Bokushi has instead created his own private Jonestown, full of other ex-soldiers sold on his self-help preaching about how PTSD need not define them, or something like that. What makes him so charismatic is never well defined, but presumably the veterans must be smitten with his R&B-inflected gospel crooning with a special backup band – a vanity moment that's pure cringe. Viewers will have to pay close attention to parse out all the different timelines that the diced editing keeps flipping back and forth between. In the film's present, Cavanaugh is approached by Ashburn to infiltrate the Bokushi's compound with other secret agents before the FBI messes everything up with their own raid. Cavanaugh is hoping he'll find his wife Evoli (Nora Arnezeder), who is either still part of the cult and will therefore need deprogramming, or is being held against her will. The murkily lensed climax involves, judging by the sound effects, a lot of rushing water and explosions, because only primal forces of such power could vanquish the Bokushi's mighty hairdo. Tin Soldier is on Prime Video from 23 July.
