Fantasy Baseball - Pick up these pitchers to boost your roster depth Yahoo Sports fantasy analyst Scott Pianowski provides a list of three hurlers who could help fantasy managers in the second week of May. View more Video Transcript Got Pinowski, Yahoo Sports. We're always looking for more pitching help. Advertisement I got 3 names to consider as we get ready for the 2nd week of May. Andrew Abbott knows how to beat the ERA estimators. He always has the better back of baseball card stat than he does in the weeds. Maybe we have to steer into that. It's been 3 straight seasons, and he's pitching this week twice. He gets the White Sox, with an absolute dream matchup. He's striking out over 11 batters per 9. I know the park makes you nervous. I know he's got a fly ball tilt. And that makes you nervous, but it also shows that he's controlling his at bats when you have a decent ratio in one way or the other. We prefer the ground balls, but if you're getting a lot of fly balls, that doesn't hurt either. Advertisement I think Andrew Abb is underrated in the fantasy community, and I'm going to roll him out this week where I can. Jason Adams in San Diego is a pickup I like, but this represents a pitcher type, OK? We get a non-closing reliever, high. Leverage winning team, big ballpark. I want to add as many of those guys as I can. Adam's one guy you could get. The strikeouts are really good there and obviously the Padres are one of the better teams in baseball, but always be looking for high impact relievers on those winning teams in those big ballparks. Let's chase the wins. There are more wins in the relief part of the game than they've ever been before. Advertisement Starters don't go as deep. So if you can't get your hands on Adam, try to find somebody who has a similar profile. Let's talk about a player improving Luis Ortiz in Cleveland. We always thought of him as a pitcher contact guy. His strikeout rate is going through the roof. He's got 44 whiffs over the last month. He's right behind Garrett Crosier in the American League. He's tied with Teri Skuble over that span, a 3.580RA and a 1.1. 9 whip over those 4 weeks. So the seasonal ratios aren't as good, but he's been pitching a lot better of late. He's bumped up his fastball by a tick. Cleveland's usually a pretty good defensive team, so something's working for Ortis whenever we see strikeout changes, Arsenal change, that slider's been really good for him. I believe what we're seeing is real. He is mixed league approved for your fantasy consideration.
