Seabury Hall alum Tyler Loree inducted into HHSAA Hall of Honor, headed to UCLA
The HHSAA held its Hall of Honor ceremony last week, with 12 new student-athletes inducted. One of those 12, is Seabury Hall's Tyler Loree. The Spartan just graduated from the school and is has been one of the top golfers in the state throughout his whole high school career. Loree now can add his name amongst some of the best athletes to ever play Prep Sports in the Hawaiian Islands. 'It's actually very special because the HHSAA has so many different sports across like all of Hawaii, all the schools and all the districts. It's very cool that I'm like, I'm honored as one of the best individuals in all of the sports combined,' said Loree. Loree has left his mark on the sport of Golf in Hawaii, as he was a 3-time MIL Champion and a back-to-back State Champion. He also played in the PGA Sony Open last January where he competed in his 2 days of competition where he was inside the cutline after day 1. 'I feel like I truly, throughout my high school career, I've kind of found myself as a golfer, but even more importantly, as a person and kind of who I am,' said Loree. State title games set in boys basketball
The HHSAA Boys Basketball State Championships are set following Thursday night's semifinal action, as Saint Louis and Punahou will clash for the Division I title, while Hawai'i Prep and Seabury Hall will battle for the Division II championship at SimpliFi Arena. Saint Louis, Punahou Advance in Division I The three-time defending state champion Saint Louis Crusaders survived a high-intensity battle with Kahuku, led by reigning Player of the Year Pupu Sepulona, who scored 16 points in a 38-31 victory. On the other side of the bracket, Punahou punched its ticket to the championship game with a gritty 49-46 win over University. Tate Takamiya and Zion White combined for 26 points to help the Buffanblu hold off a tough University squad. The Division I championship game will feature a classic ILH rivalry showdown, with Saint Louis and Punahou facing off for the Koa Trophy on Friday night at 7 p.m. at SimpliFi Arena. Hawai'i Prep, Seabury Hall Set for Division II Final In Division II, the championship matchup is also set after Hawai'i Prep and Seabury Hall emerged victorious in the semifinals. Seabury Hall upset two-time defending champion Kohala, 59-49, ending the Cowboys' reign. Meanwhile, Hawai'i Prep earned its spot with a 61-51 victory over Aiea. The Division II title game will tip off at 5 p.m. on Friday, serving as the first game of a championship-night doubleheader at SimpliFi Arena.
