Seacoast Students of the Week for April 28 are leaders and high achievers

A student leader president and member of the National Honor Society who volunteers at an animal rescue center. A top 5% student honored as a scholar-athlete who contributes to a respectful, engaging school environment. A talented musician and singer and an accomplished student always ready to help her classmates. Meet the Seacoast Students of the Week for April 28. This week's students of the week represent Spaulding, Dover and Oyster River High Schools. Seacoast Students of the Week are nominated by local principals, teachers and guidance counselors and, as you'll see below, they reflect a broad range of achievements in their schools and communities. It is our pleasure to introduce you to these outstanding students, and we look forward to sharing the stories of so many more of our wonderful students in the weeks ahead. All Seacoast-area public high schools have been invited to highlight their students' achievements each week. Here are the Seacoast Students of the Week for April 28, as described by the school leaders who nominated them: Emmaline Morin is an outstanding senior whose leadership, academic dedication, and passion for helping others make her a true role model within the school community. She has served on Class Council for all four years and currently leads as President of Student Leadership, demonstrating her commitment to making a positive impact. Emmaline is also a member of the National Honor Society and volunteers as a science tutor, helping fellow students succeed in their studies. Outside of school, she serves as president of her youth group and volunteers regularly at local elementary schools and an animal rescue center, showing her deep care for both people and animals. A dedicated athlete, she has participated in track for four years and indoor track for two, balancing her many commitments with grace and determination. This fall, Emmaline will attend Rivier University in Nashua, where she plans to study biotechnology, continuing her journey as a thoughtful, driven, and compassionate leader. This week, Dover High School recognizes senior Maggie Berry. Maggie is an outstanding student. She has challenged herself with a rigorous schedule of honors and advanced placement classes and is in the top 5% of her class. Along with her academic prowess, she has participated in soccer, unified basketball, and lacrosse. This combination led to her being recognized by the New Hampshire Interscholastic Athletic Association (NHIAA) as a scholar-athlete. Maggie participates in the Latin Club and has been a member of the Red Cross Club. She is a positive leader whose actions help cultivate a respectful, engaging school environment. Paige has always been a cheerful, wonderful addition to any classroom. Full of energy, she works hard to succeed and takes on challenges without fear. She is an independent problem solver and never misses a chance to help someone in need. Paige loves hands-on classes and often brings questions about current topics from around the state and the country. She is curious and loves to know how things connect in the world. Paige has found her niche and has explored ways to show her artful side. She is a talented musician and participated in live performances with the Guitar Ensemble class, playing beautifully, she also stepped forward to sing lead vocals for the concerts. She has taken most of the art and music classes we offer. Artistic and creative, she is a free spirit who continues to grow and learn. Paige consistently puts forth tremendous effort and has the courage to take on challenging situations. A talented and courageous individual, Paige strives to help others without question and imbues kindness. She always asks how she can help and volunteers whenever she sees a need. She is a member of The Pearl Literary Magazine, on the Yearbook staff, in the Book Club and a member of the Bio Builder Team. She is a wonderful student, deserving of any and all accolades that commend her success! We look forward to hearing about her successes after graduation. A student-athlete who formed a Girls Who Code club. A dedicated leader who tutors peers in math, science and German. A model student and positive influence with a great sense of humor. An honors student and runner who excels in math and chemistry and volunteers at a local soup kitchen. A top scorer in math competitions and musician taking a full slate of AP and college level courses. Meet the Seacoast Students of the Week for April 21. This week's students represent Portsmouth, York, Dover Spaulding and Oyster River High Schools. Seacoast Students of the Week are nominated by local principals, teachers and guidance counselors and, as you'll see below, they reflect a broad range of achievements in their schools and communities. It is our pleasure to introduce you to these outstanding students and we look forward to sharing stories of so many more of our wonderful students in the weeks ahead. All Seacoast-area public high schools have been invited to highlight their students' achievements each week. Here are the Seacoast Students of the Week for April 21, as described by the school leaders who nominated them: Portsmouth High School is excited to announce Isabella Fishteyn as its Seacoast Student of the Week. Isabella is a standout student who takes honors and dual enrollment classes as a sophomore. She has done outstanding work in her dual enrollment Python course. Isabella is kind, thoughtful, and curious. She helped create a Girls Who Code club to inspire, educate, and equip girls with computing skills to pursue 21st-century opportunities. Isabella runs the meetings; she organizes the activities, recruits the members, and often brings brownies. She also brings the fun because there is just as much laughing as coding. She and her peers have created a safe space for people of all experience levels. Isabella is also a member of our debate team, varsity tennis team and cross country. York High School is proud to recognize Kaitlyn Hatfield-Landry as its Student of the Week. A dedicated leader, scholar, and volunteer, Kaitlyn shines as an officer in the Young Women's Leadership group, where she actively engages with social issues impacting both our local community and the wider world. She is also an active volunteer through our YHS Interact group, a club dedicated to service and international understanding. In the classroom, Kaitlyn excels in our most challenging courses, all while generously giving her time as a peer tutor in math, science, and German. Her commitment to academic excellence and community service truly define her character, to the extent that she will soon be initiated into our National Honor Society. YHS is honored to have Kaitlyn as a Wildcat, and we can't wait to see the incredible impact she'll make in the future. This week, Dover High School recognizes senior Aiden Fiers. His nominating teachers shared these quotes about Aiden. 'Aidan is a model student who consistently comes to class prepared and eager to work. He embraces challenges with a positive attitude and demonstrates creativity and critical thinking when solving problems in the shop. Aidan is respectful, collaborates well with his classmates, and completes all of his assignments in a timely and thorough manner. His dedication, work ethic, and positive influence in the classroom truly set him apart. Aidan is the definition of a good student and is highly deserving of recognition.' 'Aidan not only has excellent attendance, but he is also never tardy to my block 1 class. His projects are completed on time and with attention to detail. In my class of 9th-12th graders, Aidan has set himself apart as a role model for the other students. His 'get down to work' approach, sense of humor, and willingness to learn is remarkable. He has made such a positive impact on my classroom, he absolutely deserves to be recognized as Student of the Week. Aidan's work ethic, both inside and outside of school, and his leadership through modeling, have a positive impact on the school's culture. Ethan Proulx is an amazing senior who exemplifies academic excellence, leadership, and a strong commitment to community service. A dedicated member of the National Honor Society and French Honor Society, Ethan has also served on Class Council for the past four years, currently holding the role of treasurer. He is involved in Mu Alpha Theta and generously shares his knowledge as a math and chemistry tutor, helping peers succeed in challenging subjects. Ethan is also a proud member of the Student Athletic Leadership Team, has competed in track for the past three seasons, and participates in the ski club. His community-minded spirit is evident through his volunteer work at the local soup kitchen, where he gives his time to help those in need. This fall, Ethan will attend the University of New Hampshire to pursue a degree in biochemistry, a field that perfectly aligns with his intellectual curiosity and desire to make a difference in the world. Chenghao (Mike) Mo is a Senior at Oyster River High School who has never backed down from an academic challenge. He has a strong passion for math. He has been on the Math Team for two years and always shows up ready to compete in any category. Working with other members, he comes up with solutions and talks with his peers about various approaches to problems. He has been a top scorer in the Tri-State Math Leagues. It's no surprise, Mike has an interest in and knack for mathematics and the sciences, but across all disciplines he shows a natural propensity to be successful. He surpassed what ORHS has to offer in math and is now taking early college courses. He has also taken AP chemistry, AP calculus AB & BC, AP biology and AP economics. Among Mike's other talents, he is a very talented pianist who has joined band and jazz band. He exudes a positive outlook and has been a valuable addition to our band. This year, he has learned how to play the bells, xylophone and timpani and is a large part of the concert band's percussion section. Mike is a compassionate, sociable, and driven student who never shies away from contributing to even the most challenging class discussions. He works to encourage his peers and create a fun and supportive environment. Mike is the kind of person who lights up the room. Always cheerful and full of energy, his genuine happiness is contagious. He has a way of lifting spirits and making people feel seen, heard, and appreciated. A top scholar, field hockey captain and student senator pursuing a career in engineering. An honors student, yearbook editor and competitive dancer who plans to study elementary education. An excellent student and field hockey standout who works part time in her city's recreation department. An exemplary student and football captain who recently received the Western Maine Conference Citizenship Award. A talented member of symphonic band and concert choir who excels academically. Meet the Seacoast Students of the Week for March 31. This week's students represent Oyster River, Spaulding, Dover, York and Somersworth High Schools. Seacoast Students of the Week are nominated by local principals, teachers and guidance counselors and, as you'll see below, they reflect a broad range of achievements in their schools and communities. It is our pleasure to introduce you to these outstanding students and we look forward to sharing stories of so many more of our wonderful students in the weeks ahead. All Seacoast-area public high schools have been invited to highlight their students' achievements each week. Here are the Seacoast Students of the Week for March 31, as described by the school leaders who nominated them: Maggie is a kind, caring, and conscientious person who is humble and extremely bright. She takes her responsibilities seriously but goes about it in a way that never demeans others. She is currently taking AP statistics, AP physics, and AP chemistry along with two UNH courses and other advanced classes at ORHS. Maggie continuously pushes herself to work hard and learn more. She is a team player — always willing to help students out in class, whether it is explaining a concept, showing how to set up a homework problem, or helping her lab partner. Willing to try and explore new things, she loves learning. Maggie is involved in research at UNH and has also participated in the MIT Lincoln Laboratory Radar Introduction for Student Engineers (LLRISE) program. She is friendly, positive, and responsible and always willing to lend a helping hand. She has served on the Student Senate for four years, captain of the field hockey team, vice president of Code Runners club (Computer National Honor Society), and the treasurer for the National Honor Society. Maggie is also a dedicated artist with an impressive work ethic and a keen attention to detail. She creates authentic expressive artworks in her own unique style. Her desire to help others extends beyond the school day. Maggie volunteers at the Durham Public Library, as well as serving as a referee for middle school robotics competitions, giving back to younger students and fostering their interest in STEM. She deserves this recognition. Through her entire high school career, she has demonstrated her deep passion for STEM and scientific research, is committed to making a positive impact through her academic work and extracurricular activities and makes a difference in the lives of her classmates and friends by working diligently behind the scenes at ORHS. Maggie is particularly passionate about pursuing a career in engineering, specifically in biochemical engineering, and we are excited to see where her future takes her! Madelyn Hackett is an outstanding senior whose dedication, leadership, and passion for education and the arts make her an inspiration to her peers. A committed member of National Honor Society, French Honor Society, Class Council for all four years, Student Leadership, and FBLA, Madelyn has played an active role in shaping her school community. As the yearbook editor, she has worked tirelessly to create a lasting memory for her classmates. Beyond academics, she has been deeply involved in competitive dance for the past 11 years and shares her love for the art by teaching younger students, demonstrating both her talent and mentorship skills. Her hard work and academic excellence have earned her acceptance into all eight colleges she applied to, and she is currently weighing her options before making a final decision. This fall, she plans to pursue a degree in elementary education, where her passion for working with young learners will undoubtedly make a lasting impact. Madelyn's leadership, dedication, and enthusiasm make her truly deserving of this recognition! This week Dover High School recognizes senior Leyden Churchill. Leyden is first and foremost an excellent student whose academic prowess is illustrated by her membership in the National Honor Society. Leyden provides leadership for the school community as vice president of the Athletic Leadership Council and for the Class of 2025 for whom she has served as secretary for four years. Leyden has done all this while holding a part time job with the Dover Recreation Department. Leyden has played field hockey and ran outdoor track during her time at Dover High School. Next year Leyden will attend the University of Maine in Orono, where she will play field hockey. York High School is proud to announce senior Peter Martin as our Student of the Week! Peter is an exemplary student, enrolled in a full slate of advanced placement courses, and serves as vice president of our National Honor Society chapter. Beyond his academic achievements, Peter is a standout athlete, excelling as both the football quarterback and captain and a baseball player. Notably, he was recently honored by conference administrators with the prestigious 2024-25 Western Maine Conference Citizenship Award. Peter's dedication to academics, athletics, leadership, and citizenship makes him a true asset to York High School. Congratulations, Peter! Faith is a junior at SHS, and has consistently proven herself to be a leader in our school. Her dedication, leadership, and hard work truly make her stand out as a role model and sets a wonderful example for her peers! While here, she has participated in our symphonic band, concert choir, and select choir, and has frequently made a name for herself with her talent and leadership. She has been steadfast in her presence as a clarinetist in our symphonic band, and has taken the time to improve her performance. Recently, she had a leading role in our school musical, "Mean Girls," and did a fantastic job! She has also held a position as one of our choir officers this year, helping to organize fundraising events and keeping the atmosphere of our ensembles positive and enjoyable! On top of her musical participation, Faith has excelled academically in her classes, and has completed her studies in many different areas with grace and responsibility.
