Alert train driver averts accident in Sealdah division

An alert driver of an EMU train running on the Deula-Magrahat railway line in the Sealdah division averted an accident on Wednesday (July 9, 2025) after he halted the vehicle on seeing sleepers blocking the track. As part of the July 9 general strike called by some trade unions, the protesters blocked the rail line with sleepers. Also, banana leaves were thrown on Overhead Equipment (OHE) wires between Deula and Magrahat stations, threatening the movement of trains and safety of passengers. The railway staff acted promptly and ensured undisturbed train services. In a statement, the Sealdah Railway Division warned strict action against the culprits who indulge in such activities, endangering the lives of passengers. Rajeev Saxena, Sealdah's Divisional Railway Manager, urged all citizens to behave in a responsible manner and co-operate with railway workers.
