SEBOKENG.- The South African railway system in Gauteng has collapsed, leading to the rapid rise in crime such as cable theft and murder, with bodies being discovered along the railway lines and the neglected and vandalised buildings at train stations, almost every other week. One such example is an inquest case that is being investigated by the Sebokeng police after a man's body was found at Houtkop railway line near Boiketlong, in Zone 10 Industrial in Sebokeng on Monday. It is said that on Monday, the police received a complaint that a body of man was spotted on the railway line. 'On arrival, the police found a lifeless body of an African male lying on the railway line and upon further examination by the Emergency Medical Services personnel, the African male had sustained swollen lips and he was declared dead at the scene,' said police spokesperson, Sergeant Nthabiseng Mokhachane. The deceased was wearing a black top, blue jeans, and black sneakers. The police to appeal to the public to come forward with any information that may assist with the investigation. SEBOKENG.- The Sebokeng police have opened an inquest after a man's body was found floating in a stream next to Azania, in Sebokeng, on Monday. The police were summoned to Azania where it was alleged that a human body was seen floating in the stream, Sergeant Nthabiseng Mokhachane, Sebokeng police spokesperson, said. 'On arrival at the scene, the members found a decomposed body of a man in his late forties floating in the stream. He was declared dead by the EMS and taken to Forensic Pathology Services for further investigation.' The police plead with the public to assist in locating the family of the deceased, and if anyone has recently reported their loved one as missing, they are requested to go to Sebokeng SAPS for further assistance. SEBOKENG. – A case of concealment of birth is being investigated after a foetus was found in Sonderwater recently. Sebokeng police spokesperson Sergeant Nthabiseng Mokhachane said that police were called by community members about the discovery at a bridge. 'Upon arrival, police found a foetus lying in the water next to a burst sewage pipe, still attached to the umbilical cord and the placenta,' Mokhachane explained. The foetus was declared dead by emergency medical services, and the body was taken to Forensic Pathology Services for further investigation. The police urge community members to assist them with any information about a person who was pregnant in the surrounding areas but is no longer pregnant, and if they know of someone who was pregnant and has recently visited the area. In a bid to enhance safety and halt criminal activities, the Sebokeng SAPS joined forces with more than twenty private security companies in a strategic meeting recently The gathering, hosted by Constable Abram Mafereka from the Sebokeng SAPS Firearm Registration Centre (FRC) and Social Crime Prevention Unit, brought together key players in the private security sector operating within Sebokeng and was aimed at strengthening cooperation and outlining joint crime prevention efforts. The meeting was aimed at addressing the following: – Building partnerships with Private Security Companies – Guidelines on conducting compliance inspections in non-official institutions in terms of Sec 109 of the Firearms Control Act – Working together with Sebokeng SAPS in fighting crime in the area Police spokesperson, Sergeant Nthabiseng Mokhachane said, 'Crime fighting is not a one-man job. With the combined efforts of law enforcement and the private sector, we are building a united front that criminals will find hard to penetrate.' Sebokeng Police Station Commander, Brigadier Thembekile Kubone expressed her gratitude for the turnout and the positive spirit of cooperation. 'Together we stand, divided we fall. Sebokeng police are investigating a double murder after two men, aged 37 and 39, were murdered in Zone 10 in Sebokeng, Gauteng, early yesterday morning. Sedibeng Ster reports that the men were drinking at Faida's tavern and had an argument. Both were ordered to leave the premises, and while they were outside the tavern, a fight erupted. One of the men allegedly stabbed the other in the upper body several times. A few seconds later, the suspect who stabbed the deceased was shot several times by an unknown gunman who fled the scene. 'Both males were declared dead on the scene by Emergency Medical Services and taken to Forensic Pathology Services. 'The cause of the stabbing and shooting is unknown… Police plead with the public to assist with any information that may help with investigations,' says Sergeant Nthabiseng Mokhachane.
