Hayley Williams Is the Biggest Star in the ‘Ego Death at a Bachelorette Party' Video

Hayley Williams leaves her mark in the music video for 'Ego Death at a Bachelorette Party,' one of her 17 new songs released last week. 'I still believe in Nashville,' she etches onto a wall in black ink during one scene. The Zachary Gray-directed video takes place in the city, following the musician through an early morning and an even later night. 'I'll be the biggest star/At this racist country singer's bar,' she sings from the backseat of a car, then again while hitting a two-step by the Cumberland River alongside Nashville Representative Justin Jones. 'I'll be the biggest star/At this bachelorette party bar,' she continues, this time while walking down Broadway and giving a few dollars to a man on the street raising funds for a penis reduction. And naturally, when she sings 'I'll be the biggest star/At this fucking karaoke bar,' she's on the mic at a holiday-themed karaoke bar. But on the 'Ego Death at a Bachelorette Party' bridge, she laments, 'Got too big for my britches/Too big for my fishes/The sea got shallower/Every day I danced – I said my prayers/It never rained/And I just want to be in California/Heaven laughs 'cause they all tried to warn us/They sent me right back/From where I came/My tail between my legs/On Broadway.' The untitled 17-track collection is the first Williams has shared on her newly-launched venture Post Atlantic, distributed via Secretly Distribution. Nashville becomes another prominent musical character on 'True Believer,' where the musician continues her interrogation of the city she's seen change before her. 'Tourists stumble down Broadway/Cumberland keeps claiming bodies/All our best memories/Were bought and then turned into apartments,' she sings. 'The club with all the hardcore shows/Now just a greyscale Domino's/The churches overflow each Sunday, greedy Sunday morning.' It isn't rock bottom, but as Williams declares on 'Ego Death at a Bachelorette Party,' she can only go up from here. Hayley Williams Unveils 17 New Solo Tracks

In lieu of a more traditional album release, Paramore frontwoman Hayley Williams has dropped 17 individual new tracks on DSPs through her Post Atlantic imprint, which is distributed by Secretly Distribution. They were produced by Daniel James and also include contributions from Brian Robert Jones, Joey Howard and Jim-E Stack. Williams debuted the shoegaze-steeped 'Mirtazapine' last weekend with Bleachers at the Newport Folk Festival after first playing it on the air at Nashville public radio station WNXP. Other highlights include the vocal trickery-laden 'Glum,' the Americana-tinged 'Whim' and 'Ice in My OJ,' the chorus of which dates back to the song 'Jumping Inside' from Williams' pre-Paramore stint singing on the Mammoth City Messengers soundtrack. Paramore returned in 2023 after a five-year hiatus with This Is Why, which won two Grammys. With Paramore off the road for now, Williams recently turned up on Turnstile's latest album and made a surprise appearance during the group's record release show at Under the K Bridge Park in Brooklyn, N.Y. The activity comes alongside the recent release of Paramore member Zac Farro's first solo album under his own name, Operator, and the 20th anniversary of Paramore's debut album, All We Know Is Falling. The milestone was celebrated last week with the first digital release of The Summer Tic EP, a 2006 collection previously only available on CD. On Friday, Aug. 1, Paramore's lead vocalist released a surprise collection of 17 singles after previously sharing them on a website and deleting them earlier in the week. The collection — produced entirely by Daniel James — is self-released on her new venture Post Atlantic, distributed via Secretly Distribution. Collaborators Brian Robert Jones and Joey Howard are featured on the 17 songs, which Williams wrote, recorded and played multiple instruments. One of the tracks — "True Believer" — also includes contributions from Jim-E Stack. Just days before the collection's release, the "Hard Times" hitmaker, 36, made a surprise appearance at Newport Folk Festival. There, she debuted one of 'Mirtazapine," a grunge-inspired ode to mental health and antidepressants, live for the first time. Also featured on the project are "True Believer," a downtempo protests song describing Christianity in the South as a weaponized tool for hate; "Discovery Channel," which samples The Bloodhound Gang's 1999 hit "The Bad Touch;" 'Ice in My OJ," which features a chorus initially sung by Williams in 2004 on "Jumping Inside" by the Mammoth City Messengers. On Monday, July 28, Williams shared the 17 songs on a cryptic website only to remove them roughly 24 hours later with the message, 'Thank you for listening." Fans were initially granted access to the site with an access code as a part of the latest drop from Williams' Good Dye Young hair dye brand. Users could then move the tracks — which were in folders — around the screen and play them. There was also a 'Misc' folder that featured a photo of a lyric book and a 'Hayley Williams is my favorite band' T-shirt. Williams' collection is the latest batch of solo work she has released outside of Paramore. She's recorded the albums Petals for Armor (2020) and Flowers for Vases (2021) and three EPs. Paramore released their most recent album, This Is Why, in 2023. In May, Williams dropped the single 'I Like It I Like It' with Moses Sumney. Read the original article on People
