Dubai: Gold, jewellery transport to get more secure via new AI-powered system
A new AI-powered system has been launched in Dubai on Friday to guarantee more security during gold and jewellery transportation operations. The new system aims to reshape security standards in the transportation of gold and jewelry using advanced technologies that ensure real-time tracking, maximum protection, and full regulatory compliance, Dubai's Security Industry Regulatory Agency (SIRA) said. The new digital platform called "Tawash" allows gold and jewellery companies to transport their valuables using their own licensed and accredited employees, eliminating the need for third-party carriers. However, all transported items must be secured in SIRA-approved security bags to ensure safety during transit. "Today, 'Tawash' has officially entered the operational phase," said Jassim Taher, Director of Special Projects at SIRA. "During our meeting with representatives from gold and jewellery companies, we detailed the registration steps, tracking mechanisms, and compliance requirements to guarantee the highest standards of security and safety." SIRA highlighted that all transport operations must utilize high-tech security bags that have been rigorously tested and certified according to the highest security standards. These bags feature: The authority made it clear that traditional security bags will no longer be approved, and all bags must undergo SIRA laboratory testing and certification before being authorised for use within the "Tawash" system. Companies have the flexibility to choose the bag size that suits their operations, provided it meets all required security specifications. 'Tawash' features The digital platform will have a 'Guest Invites System' which is a smart application that allows companies to monitor individuals transporting gold from abroad into the market, strengthening oversight. It will also include a digital control panel and that is a real-time dashboard enabling store managers to monitor transport operations, take immediate action when necessary, and report suspicious activities or unexpected stops to enable rapid intervention. Dubai Police will have instant auditing authority over any transport operation, with multi-layered verification measures to ensure full compliance. Violations, such as attempting to transport gold beyond the permitted limit without proper security measures, will result in immediate fines. SIRA urged all companies to comply with the system's standards and take advantage of its intelligent security solutions, stressing the importance of strict adherence to regulations to maintain a secure and stable gold market in the emirate.
