Indian athlete Ankita clinched the silver medal at the World University Games 2025 on Sunday to add to the nation's tally in Germany. Ankita clocked a personal best time of 9:31.99 to seal the second position on the podium in the Women's 3000m steeplechase to register the nation's fourth medal in athletics at the event. With Ankita's silver-winning effort, India's showing at the WUG stands at 2 gold, five silver and four bronze. Earlier in the day, there was a redemption story on offer as runner Seema made history at the WUG by becoming the first woman to win a medal in the 5000m event at the championships. Despite having to miss the 10,000m due to official negligence, she secured her first senior medal with a silver in the 5000m race. Seema clocked a season-best time of 15:35.86, which was also her second quickest time ever in the event. Additionally, 24-year-old athlete Praveen Chithravel earned a silver medal in the triple jump with a remarkable leap of 16.66 metres on his second attempt. view comments First Published: July 27, 2025, 15:37 IST Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Indian Athlete Seema Claims Historic 5000m Silver At World University Games
Last Updated: Seema, who was forced to miss the 10,000m due to official negligence, clinched her maiden senior medal with the silver in the 5000m event. India athlete Seema scripted history at the World University Games as she became the first woman to medal in the 5000m event at the championships. Seema, who was forced to miss the 10,000m due to official negligence, clinched her maiden senior medal with the silver in the 5000m event. Seema clocked a season-best time of 15:35.86, which was also her second quickest time ever in the event. The Indian badminton team, which won bronze at the ongoing Games in Rhine-Ruhr, Germany, encountered controversy when it was revealed that six of the twelve selected players were barred from participating due to Indian officials' failure to correctly submit all names during the managers' meeting on July 16. Female quarter-miler Devyani Bazala claimed she could not compete as her name went missing due to a late alteration by officials in submitting the confirmation list. The sprinter was unable to participate in the 400m race after her name disappeared from the start list upon her arrival at the venue, despite being initially included. view comments First Published: July 27, 2025, 07:24 IST Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Tracking the NYC Restaurants in ‘And Just Like That...' Season 3, Episode 9
is a born-and-raised New Yorker who is an editor for Eater's Northeast region and Eater New York, was the former Eater Austin editor for 10 years, and often writes about food and pop culture. And just like that, HBO Max's Sex and the City sequel series returns for its third season. And Just Like That... brings back our long-time New Yorkers Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker), Miranda (Cynthia Nixon), and Charlotte (Kristin Davis), as well as relative newcomers Seema (Sarita Choudhury) and Lisa (Nicole Ari Parker), to our televisions and laptops. What is summer without our gals talking candidly about sex, making bad puns, and dining and drinking around the city? Like previous seasons, Eater will be tracking where the gang is eating across New York City, from brunch sessions to romantic dinners to cocktail dates. This guide will be updated weekly when each episode airs on Thursdays at 9 p.m., leading up to the finale. And we're saying it now: there will be spoilers ahead. Episode 9, 'Present Tense' THE THING THAT EVERYONE HAS BEEN WAITING FOR HAPPENED. The women are finally saying the things they want to say, and the plots actually move forward. Hooray: Carrie and Aidan are no longer. They've been grappling with old habits, resentment, and trust issues. Aidan can't get over Carrie cheating on him a billion years ago and the fact that she's hanging out with someone who gets her writer sensibilities and smokes a pipe (remember his whole anti-cigarettes thing from before?). And Carrie is shrinking herself to be right for him. So, they break up while an on-the-nose Taylor Swift song plays. 'Present Tense' is a decent episode among a spate of duds, thanks to a lot of callbacks to Sex and the City that made the original series enjoyable. Carrie and Duncan's relationship recalls her failed tryst with novelist Berger and the scrunchie debate, while the slapstick comedy antics of Charlotte navigating her vertigo and Harry's post-surgery bulge remind me of the plot where they both get food poisoning. 100 East 63rd Street, near Park Avenue, Upper East Side (For context: Seema and hot gardener Adam are still debating the merits of deodorant versus crystals, so she tries it his way and rubs said rock against her armpits.) Seema rushes over to chef Daniel Boulud's restaurant (which is playacting as a spot called Pelican — maybe the show couldn't get the rights to use the name?) to meet a client. She pre-orders a truffle pizza, and the guy comments on whether the server has 'body order' (oh god), and Seema realizes it's her. She heads to the bathroom, which is occupied, so she takes out emergency deodorant (doesn't everyone have one of those in their bags?) and slathers it on in public without embarrassment. 253 West 11th Street at West Fourth Street, West Village Aidan texts Carrie while she's shoe shopping, asking if she wants to meet for lunch at 'that place we love' — it's the second reference to a neighborhood spot they frequent this season. It turns out to be the longtime West Village bistro (not to be confused with the San Francisco-based bakery chain of the same name). Aidan's already there, sitting at a patio table near the door, and orders them iced teas. They have an honest conversation about his trust issues and her frustration that everything she's doing for their relationship will never be enough. Their tenses reveal how they feel about their relationship, speaking in the past rather than the present. And just like that, they're done. Cue Taylor Swift's 'How Did It End?' 113 Greenwich Avenue, at Jane Street, West Village The real Carrie Bradshaw is back: she's in a hot dress walking along the cobblestone streets of the West Village, meeting her friends at the Italian restaurant. We're peering into the restaurant from the outside, seeing Carrie greet each of her friends as if she's returning after a long time away. Super Dancer Chapter 5: Contestant Shanky's tearful tribute to his ailing mother as she joins me through a video call
The stage of Super Dancer Chapter 5 has always been filled with electrifying performances, but some moments go beyond entertainment — they touch the soul. One such deeply emotional moment will come from contestant Shankal Gupta, affectionately known as Shanky, whose performance became a tribute to his ailing mother. This season, the show celebrated mothers by inviting them to perform alongside their children. But for Shanky, the moment turned bittersweet as his mother, Seema, couldn't be present on set due to health concerns. Despite her absence, her spirit and love were very much felt — thanks to a surprise video call arranged by the production team. Shanky's father stepped in to perform with him, and as the two danced, Seema watched with moist eyes on the call. 'I'm happy that Shanky's father is performing in my place,' Seema said, fighting back tears. 'All the mothers are performing, only I am not there with Shanky. I am feeling very upset. I wish I could have been there.' In response, judge Geeta Kapur shared a message of warmth and reassurance: 'You are very much here with us. We all are praying for your speedy recovery so you can soon join us on the show.' Turning his vulnerability into strength, Shanky delivered a powerful, heartfelt performance that moved everyone present. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 21st Century Skills Start with Confident Communication Planet Spark Learn More Undo The judges — Geeta Kapur, Shilpa Shetty, and Marzi Pestonji — praised not only his talent but also the emotional depth he brought to the stage. Shanky's act reminded viewers that dance is not just movement — it's emotion, love, and connection. His story became a beautiful ode to every mother's presence — whether near or far — and the bond that dances silently between a mother and her child.

Under pressure, AIU removes joint secretary, forms inquiry panel
Representational Image New Delhi: Facing backlash over mismanagement and administrative irregularities at the ongoing FISU World University Games in Germany, resulting in some of the athletes missing out on participation, the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) – under pressure from the sports ministry to crack the whip on erring officials – on Wednesday removed its joint secretary Baljit Singh Sekhon from his post and constituted a four-member inquiry committee to probe the procedural lapses in registration. The development came a day after TOI reported citing sources that the ministry was considering disbanding the AIU, along with the School Games Federation of India (SGFI), over alleged malpractices and irregularities in their functioning and replacing them with two new national federations. Six Indian badminton players were barred from the WUG in Rhine-Ruhr after officials failed to submit their names correctly during the managers' meeting on July 16. Similarly, India couldn't field an entry in the women's 10,000m and 400m as long-distance runner Seema along with two others and sprinter Devyaniba Zala's names went missing from the start list due to an official error. In the suspension letter issued by AIU – a copy of which is with TOI – Nazneen Begum, under-secretary (Admin/Estt) wrote: 'The president of the AIU, in the interest of upholding accountability and procedural propriety, and in exercise of the powers conferred under Rule 18.2 of the AIU Office bye-laws, hereby place Dr Baljit Singh Sekhon, joint secretary, under suspension with immediate effect. It is also ordered that for the duration this order remains in effect, the headquarters of Dr Sekhon shall be the AIU Office, New Delhi. He must obtain prior permission before leaving headquarters/station.' In a separate letter issued by Nazneen, she informed about the formation of an investigative panel. 'The committee shall examine all relevant records related to the registration and management of Indian contingent at the WUG and determine the facts concerning the non-inclusion of selected athletes, the exclusion of designated coaches and the penalties imposed by the event organisers,' the order stated.
