Anas Sefrioui's Alleged Purchase of English Club Sheffield is Hoax
Rabat – A source close to Moroccan businessman Anas Sefrioui has denied reports that he will take over English football club Sheffield United.
Moroccan news outlet Le360 quoted a close source to the businessman who firmly dismissed the rumors.
The source's denial comes after several tabloid news outlets, including The Sun, claimed that Sefrioui was set to purchase Sheffield on Wednesday.
'Moroccan billionaire Anas Sefrioui is looking to buy a club in England- with Sheffield Wednesday in his sights,' The Sun wrote , describing the businessman as one of the richest men in Africa.
The news outlet claimed Serfioui had hired a legal firm to handle the purchase if the price is 'right and he has control.'
EFL Analysis picked up the same news, claiming that the Moroccan businessman had Sheffield in his sights.
Sheffield was 'the subject of interest from America not long ago, but now, it is thought Moroccan billionaire Anas Sefrioui is on the hunt for a project in England,' it said.
The report further claimed that the property developer had hired a 'top legal firm' to pursue this investment opportunity.
Sefrioui is active in the real estate sector, with a real-time net worth estimated at $1.6 billion, according to Forbes.
He is the founder and CEO of homebuilder Groupe Addoha. Tags: Anas SefriouiSefrioui Sheffieldsheffield clubSheffield United.
