Kelana Jaya Line signalling upgrade postponed to Sept 6 for testing
KUALA LUMPUR: The Kelana Jaya Line signalling system upgrade for Phases 2 and 3, originally set for Aug 9, has been postponed to Sept 6. Prasarana Malaysia Berhad stated that the delay allows extra testing for the new Phase 1 system to ensure full functionality. Additional tests will evaluate system performance under real conditions to reduce future service disruptions. Phase 1 upgrades were conducted during night maintenance hours as they mainly involved depot areas, not the main train route. The project is part of a long-term solution following the November 2022 signalling system failure. Phase 2 works will occur on Sept 6, 7, 14, 15, 21, 27, 28, and Oct 11 and 12, affecting stations from KLCC to Gombak. Phase 3 is scheduled for Nov 1, 2, 8, 9, 15, 16, 29, and 30, covering Lembah Subang to Ampang Park. Affected stations will open at 9 am instead of the usual 6 am, while unaffected stations operate normally. Free shuttle buses and vans will be available to connect disrupted stations for smoother passenger movement. Station staff, auxiliary police, and Prasarana Troopers will assist passengers at affected and interchange stations. Information boards and leaflets will guide commuters at stations and bus stops. Prasarana apologised for inconvenience and thanked passengers for their patience and cooperation. The new SelTrac Generation 8 system offers real-time data analysis, better cybersecurity, and improved communication stability. The upgrade is expected to extend the current signalling system's lifespan by up to 20 years. Latest updates on the rescheduling, affected stations, and alternative services can be found at [ or Rapid KL's social media. – Bernama

Kelana Jaya LRT line upgrades to affect 27 stations from Aug 9 to Nov 22
PASSENGERS on the Kelana Jaya LRT line can expect temporary service disruptions from Aug 9 to Nov 22. Prasarana Malaysia Berhad group chief operating officer (strategy and development) Dr Prodyut Dutt said the disruptions are due to phased upgrades of the line's Automatic Train Control (ATC) signalling system. 'The system will be upgraded to the latest SelTrac Generation 8 signalling system, featuring real-time data analytics, enhanced cybersecurity, and more stable communications,' he told a press conference at Menara Prasarana on Monday (July 28). He added that the upgrade is part of a long-term solution following a major disruption in November 2022. The works will take place in three phases. Phase 1, which was completed on July 19, primarily focused on depot areas. During the upcoming phases, selected stations will open later than usual – at 9am instead of 6am – on weekends and public holidays to minimise commuter inconvenience. Phase 2, running from Aug 9 to Sept 14, will involve 10 stations from KLCC to Gombak (Aug 9, 10, 16, 17, 23: KLCC, Ampang Park, Damai, Dato' Keramat, Jelatek; and Sept 5, 6, 7, 14: Setiawangsa, Sri Rampai, Wangsa Maju, Taman Melati, Gombak). Phase 3, scheduled from Oct 11 to Nov 22, will involve 17 stations from Lembah Subang to Ampang Park (Oct 11, 12, 18, 19: Lembah Subang, Kelana Jaya, Taman Bahagia, Taman Paramount, Asia Jaya, Taman Jaya; and Nov 1, 15, 16, 22: Universiti, Kerinchi, Abdullah Hukum, Bangsar, KL Sentral, Pasar Seni, Masjid Jamek, Dang Wangi, Kampung Baru, KLCC, Ampang Park). Stations not involved in testing will operate on their normal hours. To ease travel during the disruptions, Prasarana will provide free shuttle buses and vans connecting the affected stations. Trained personnel, including station staff, auxiliary police, and Prasarana Troopers, will be stationed on-site to assist passengers and ensure smooth transitions. Passengers are advised to check the full schedule at or follow Rapid KL's social media channels for real-time updates.
