He said the establisment of the college is a crucial initiative to empower rural youths, especially students from Lundu, Sematan and the surrounding areas, by providing better opportunities for higher education. 'This college will not only offer more pathways for our local children to pursue further studies but will also act as a catalyst for economic and social development within the community,' he said when speaking at the closing of the Sematan Festival 2025 on Sunday, according to a Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas) report. Azizul said the construction of the college is expected to begin next year once the planning phase and technical approvals are finalised. He added both the Sarawak and federal governments are expected to work together on the project. On the Sematan Festival 2025, Azizul expressed his appreciation to the Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts (MTCP) for their support in making the event a success. He proposed that the festival be held annually with a more inclusive and larger-scale approach. This year's festival featured a wide range of activities, including a powerboat race, E-sports competition, 'rakyat' concert, Joran Challenge, and the Sematan Duathlon 2025, which drew thousands of visitors from various backgrounds. Also present at the event were political secretaries to the Premier of Sarawak, Abang Abdul Aziz Abang Draup and Niponi Undek; MTCP permanent secretary Datu Sherrina Hussaini; and Lundu district officer Awang Yusup Awang Mostapha. azizul annuar adenan college education matriculation

Handout map show the affected roads. KUCHING (July 23): Several main roads in Sematan will be closed and traffic diversions put in place this weekend in conjunction with the Sematan Festival 2025. Lundu police chief Supt Sudirman Kram said the traffic control measures will begin during the dry run tomorrow (July 24) from 9.30am until completion. The affected route will be along Jalan Lundu-Sematan, from the junction near the main festival site leading towards Sematan town. 'For the duration of the festival from July 25 to 27, several roads will be closed from 7.30am until the end of daily events,' he said in a statement. The affected roads are Jalan Tanah Hitam-Waterfront Sematan, Jalan Goh Kheng Hoon-Lorong Pekan Sematan 3, Jalan Pekan Sematan leading to the festival grounds, and Jalan Seacom-Sungai Kilong. Sudirman added that on Sunday, a duathlon event involving running and cycling will take place from 6.30am to 11.00am, requiring additional road closures. The duathlon routes are as follows: 5km run (Jalan Pekan Sematan, Jalan Kampung Tanah Hitam, Jalan Kampung Trusan Jaya); 9km run (Jalan Pekan Sematan, Jalan Seacom, Jalan Sungai Kilong); and 48km cycling (Jalan Kampung Sungai Kilong, Jalan Kampung Siru, Jalan Kampung Pueh and Jalan Pan Borneo towards Sungai Bedaun). 'Traffic police and event marshals will implement rolling road closures throughout the race for safety,' he added. Motorists are advised to use Jalan Seacom and Jalan PLKN Tanah Hitam as alternative routes. For public convenience, designated parking zones include Medan Selera Sematan (40 cars, 100 motorcycles); Padang Bola along Jalan Sungai Kilong (150-200 vehicles, paid parking); Masjid Noorul Islam (50 vehicles); and Anjung Usahawan Sematan (100 vehicles). Sudirman said licensed traders holding permits from the Lundu District Council will be allowed to enter Sematan town for loading and unloading from July 25 to 27, between 6am and 7.30am, and from 5pm to 7pm. He advised all visitors to plan ahead, avoid illegal parking, and consider carpooling where possible. 'Visitors are reminded to follow traffic instructions, secure their vehicles and belongings, refrain from flying drones without permission, and prioritise road safety at all times.' The festival will be officiated by Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah this Friday. road closures Sematan Festival 2025
