Local senior center celebrates accreditation
AUSTINTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – A major recognition was bestowed on one of the brightest places in Austintown.
The Austintown Senior Center serves up to 150 seniors a day and 500 every week. It has earned the Senior Center of Excellence Accreditation, which measures the programs and service it provides to seniors, and its commitment to facilities.
The honor comes from the Ohio Association of Senior Centers.
'We are the eighth senior center in the entire state of Ohio that has gone through the entire process and received accreditation. So, it's kind of a big deal,' said Jessick Ricker, marketing, programming and technology director.
The process to receive the honor took about three years to accomplish.
The Austintown Senior Center opened in October 2010.
