Limerick man Bulfin steps down as Westmeath hurling manager after one season
Seoirse Bulfin has stepped down as Westmeath hurling manager after just a season in charge. The Limerick man replaced Joe Fortune last summer.
Westmeath suffered relegation from Division 1B earlier this year and only avoided the drop from the Joe McDonagh Cup with victory over Kerry in the final round of the competition.
"Westmeath GAA can confirm that Seoirse Bulfin has stepped down from his role as manager of the Westmeath Senior Hurling team," Westmeath GAA said in a statement.
"Seoirse, who was appointed ahead of the 2025 season, has informed the County Board of his decision to step away following the conclusion of the current campaign.
"Westmeath GAA would like to sincerely thank Seoirse for his hard work and commitment over the course of the season. His efforts throughout the year were greatly appreciated by players, officials, and supporters alike.
"We also extend our thanks to his backroom team, whose dedication and support were vital to the team's preparation and performance throughout the year.
"The process to appoint a new manager for the Westmeath Senior Hurling team will commence in the coming weeks."
Bulfin had managed Meath prior to taking over as Westmeath boss. The Bruff clubman had also worked closely with Davy Fitzgerald during his time managing Waterford, Clare and Wexford. He managed the Charleville hurlers last year.
