HYBE Surprises Staff With Jaw-Dropping Bonus As BTS Completes Military Service
Last Updated: BTS's agency, HYBE's stock had dropped during the septet's military service, but is now rising again after the band's comeback. BTS members V, Jungkook, RM, Jin, J Hope, Suga and Jimin have all finished their military service. This has brought great excitement not only among fans, aka ARMYs, but also to their company, HYBE. The agency's stock had dropped during the septet's service but is now rising again after the band's comeback. To celebrate this good news, HYBE decided to give a big bonus to their full-time employees worldwide. Each employee will receive 20 restricted stock units (RSUs), and at today's value, these stocks are worth 6.21 million KRW, which is close to Rs 3 Lakh. As per the Seoul Economic Daily, HYBE has not announced the exact date when employees can use or sell the new RSUs. Interestingly, this is the third time the company has given such a massive reward to its team. In December 2024, HYBE provided 16,396 treasury shares as RSUs to 34 of its executives and staff. Just last month, the company granted another 12,142 shares to 32 employees. Speaking about the latest bonus, a HYBE representative explained, 'This RSU grant plan is intended to share the fruits of our collective efforts for the company's growth." It's not just HYBE employees who will benefit from BTS members returning from military service. As the members step back into the spotlight, companies connected to them, directly or indirectly, are also expected to see better business, among them is Mirae Asset Securities. A spokesperson stated, 'With BTS's return, there is a possibility of increased sales in business divisions with high profit margins." BTS's next project is expected to push HYBE's stock even higher. This means the bonus given to employees could be worth much more later. The RSUs given are not immediate cash. They are granted now but can only be used after a certain period of time. So, while each unit is currently valued at 6.21 million KRW, the final amount employees receive could be much more if the stock continues to rise. After Suga completed his military service last week, fans are now eagerly waiting to see him back on stage with the rest of the BTS members, V, Jungkook, RM, Jin, J Hope and Jimin. First Published:

South Korea's National Pension Service Eyes Blockchain for $890B Fund's Transactions
South Korea's National Pension Service (NPS), which manages 1,224 trillion won ($836 billion) in assets, plans to look at how a blockchain could be used in its fund transaction systems. The organization is weighing a shift to blockchain technology to boost transparency and security in managing its deposits, withdrawals and investments, according to Seoul Economic Daily, which cited industry sources. The NPS plans to begin a preliminary disclosure process, inviting blockchain experts and companies to weigh in before formally launching the initiative, the news outlet said. This feedback phase, standard for major public projects in Korea, will inform a research study into the feasibility of integrating blockchain into the pension fund's accounting system. The NPS is specifically looking at how blockchain's shared ledger can prevent tampering of fund records, a crucial task for the institution to ensure the retirement security of millions of people. The NPS has previously used a blockchain to track overseas pension recipients. While it isn't considering investing directly in bitcoin (BTC) or other cryptocurrencies, it has indirect exposure to the sector after investing in both Strategy and Coinbase shares. The initiative comes shortly after South Korea's 7-Eleven stores started accepting the Bank of Korea's central bank digital currency as part of a major trial. Police plan for 'AI patrol cars' that can analyze emergency situations: report
South Korean police plan to develop an artificial intelligence system for patrol cars that can analyze voice and video patterns to determine if an emergency response is necessary, a local daily reported Friday. According to the Seoul Economic Daily, citing a police report, the plan to develop an active AI solution for movable platforms involves investing 13.99 billion won ($9.7 million) from July through 2029. The system will include a voice recognition function to analyze situations based on vocal patterns. A video analysis function will detect cars involved in suspected illegal activities while providing information on potential hindrances for police officers, such as accidents or construction en route to a crime scene. The AI system will be equipped with an interpretation function that can be used for crimes involving non-Korean speakers. South Korean police have sought ways to integrate AI software into crime fighting. AI-based criminal investigation was cited as one of the key missions for the National Police Agency-led research and development plans rolled out last month. It was given a budget of 64 billion won this year. The NPA plans to deploy the video analysis program for surveillance footage involved in child abuse cases starting in the third quarter of this year. Police claim it will be able to analyze months' worth of surveillance footage within days.
