A 20-degree drop in temperatures? We'll take it. The fall-like weather continues into Tuesday.

Another September-like day is on tap with a mix of sun and clouds and highs reaching the mid-70s across Greater Boston. Morning commuting temperatures will range from the upper 50s to the low 60s, so you may want to start the day with a light jacket or sweater. The entire region will stay dry before a couple of showers push into Vermont after most of us call it a night. Advertisement Lows will slip into the 50s under partly cloudy skies across Greater Boston and much of Southern New England. The setup — staying cool and sunny The cool stretch and low dew points continue on Tuesday across Boston and really region-wide. It'll be slightly warmer than Monday, but still running below average. High pressure remains in control, but with a few more clouds floating about the region. Boston should see some high clouds with long stretches of sun, especially during the afternoon. It won't be until late in the evening when a few scattered light showers work into parts of Vermont as a sliver of energy nears. Showers should dissolve as they approach the coast overnight. A mix of clouds and sun is expected across the region on Tuesday with showers entering the picture late. Boston Globe A slight onshore breeze will keep the North and South Shores, including Boston, a couple of degrees cooler than areas like Newton, Saugus, Bridgewater, and areas west. Advertisement Highs across New England will reach the 70s on Tuesday afternoon. Boston Globe Speaking of the breeze, it won't be much to complain about, but you'll notice the wind if you're walking the streets of Boston or along the coast. Wind speeds may near 10 miles per hour with a few gusts to about 15 miles per hour. A light onshore breeze will reach 10 miles per hour along the coast on Tuesday. Boston Globe The comfortable air won't be going anywhere anytime soon, as forecast dew points will stay in the upper 40s on Tuesday and rise to the 50s for the rest of the work week. Dry air will remain largely in place this week across Greater Boston, keeping dew points below 60 degrees. Boston Globe Hurricane Erin: High surf advisory issued If you're keeping tabs on Hurricane Erin, New England is starting to feel the impacts from the storm, although the Category 4 hurricane will remain hundreds of miles away from the coast. The storm will generate massive waves out to sea, with enough energy traveling to our coastal waters and bringing choppy conditions for folks with boats. It'll be more breezy the farther out to sea you go, with waves between 5 and 10 feet. Small craft advisories are in place across Southern New England coastal waters with gusty winds offshore and five to 10 feet waves. Boston Globe Hurricane Erin turns north while still maintaining Category 4 wind speeds. Boston Globe Next chance for rain arrives Wednesday The next chance for rain in Boston arrives on Wednesday, when scattered, light showers are possible in the evening. Showers will likely be more scattered as dry air eats away at any moisture as a warm front nears the region from the south. Showers will push into Southern New England on Wednesday with a warm front passing to the south. Boston Globe Tuesday's breakdown Greater Boston: Partly sunny with highs reaching the mid-70s.
