Two men were killed by a remote-controlled Russian drone in the south-eastern region of Zaporizhzhya, the region's Governor Ivan Federov wrote on Telegram on Tuesday.
He said the men were standing next to a house in the municipality of Stepnohirsk, which is not far from the front line between Russian and Ukrainian troops. Ukraine has been defending itself against Russia's full-scale invasion since February 2022. The two countries intensified their mutual attacks on strategically important railway lines overnight.
A Russian airstrike on the Ukrainian railway hub of Lozova damaged the station and other infrastructure buildings, according to the Ukrainian civil defence authorities. One railway employee was killed, and 10 others were injured, including two teenagers, the Kharkiv regional prosecutor's office reported.
Railway lines through Lozova connect to Kharkiv and the eastern Ukrainian front-line cities of Kramatorsk and Kostiantynivka. The city was attacked by more than 30 Russian combat drones, according to reports.
Mayor Serhii Zelensky described it as the most severe attack in more than three years of war.
Both warring parties aim to disrupt the enemy's supply lines to the front by damaging railway infrastructure.
