Déversement d'acide sulfurique à Saint-Augustin-de-Desmaures
Les pompiers sont intervenus mardi pour un déversement dangereux à Saint-Augustin-de-Desmaures. Le Service de protection contre l'incendie de Québec a été alerté à la suite d'un déversement provenant d'un wagon de train à l'usine CHEMCO inc., dans le parc industriel. Tôt vers 7h10, un employé de l'usine a demandé de l'aide au 9-1-1 en indiquant le déversement d'acide sulfurique d'un wagon de train à l'extérieur, non loin de la rue de Hambourg. La fuite a toutefois été arrêtée par la fermeture d'une valve. Chemco est une entreprise familiale québécoise œuvrant dans les secteurs environnementaux et industriels spécialisés. Une vingtaine de pompiers incluant ceux du groupe d'intervention en matières dangereuses ont nettoyé le site. Le déversement est évalué à environ 800 gallons d'acide sulfurique. Une fois sur les lieux, les pompiers ont érigé un périmètre de sécurité et déployé des jets de protection. Ils ont aussi procédé à l'obstruction d'une bouche d'égout à proximité et neutralisé le produit déversé avant sa récupération avec de l'absorbant. Aucune évacuation de bâtiment n'a été nécessaire et personne n'a été blessé ou incommodé par le déversement. Quebec Native Friendship Centre in Wendake closed temporarily after major fire
The Quebec Native Friendship Centre in Wendake is temporarily closed after a fire erupted at their building on 234 Louis IX Street on Friday night. In a news release, the Service de protection contre l'incendie de Québec (SPCIQ) says firefighters responded to a fire in a two-storey building in the Loretteville district after calls were made to 911 at around 10:37 p.m. The fire broke out behind the building and no one was inside at the time of the incident, according to the fire department. "The building was extensively damaged and cannot be reinstated," reads the SPCIQ's release. Both the Mikueniss daycare and the Quebec Native Friendship Centre use the facility. "The safety of our employees, our customers and our community is our top priority," wrote the Quebec Native Friendship Centre's management team in a news release published on Facebook. "We are currently working closely with local authorities and emergency services to assess the situation and take the necessary measures." The organization says it will share updates regularly on their page. The fire department is investigating the cause of the fire.
