MELAKA: A 41-year-old technician claimed trial at the Sessions' Court in Ayer Keroh here to 52 counts of charges including raping, committing physical sexual assault and taking nude photographs of his biological daughter. The accused's plea was recorded before Judge Haderiah Siri on Tuesday (August 12). Under 17 charges of rape, the father of six was accused of committing incest with his 18-year-old biological daughter, an offence under Section 376B of the Penal Code, which carries a prison sentence of between 10 and 30 years as well as whipping upon conviction. He also faced 34 charges of intentionally committing physical sexual assault by forcing his daughter to perform sexual acts. These offences are punishable under Sections 14(b) and 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017, read together with Section 16 of the same Act. Sections 14(b) and 14(a) each carry a maximum prison sentence of 20 years and whipping, while Section 16 provides for a jail term of up to five years and a maximum of two strokes of the rotan, if convicted. All 52 offences were allegedly committed between 6.50am and 7.15am from May 12, 2025 to Aug 2, 2025, at a house in Tambak Paya in the Melaka Tengah district. The accused also faced one charge of producing child pornography by taking two nude photographs of his daughter in the bathroom when she was 17 years and 11 months old. The alleged offence took place at the same address at about 7am on July 9. Deputy Public Prosecutor Muhamad Ehsan Nasarudin proposed that the unrepresented accused be granted bail of RM20,000 for each of the 52 charges, along with additional conditions. These included a prohibition on contacting the victim and prosecution witnesses, reporting to the nearest police station once every two weeks and surrendering his passport to the court. The court granted bail of RM90,000 and imposed all additional conditions sought by the prosecution. The next mention date is fixed on Sept 18.

KUCHING (Aug 12): The Sessions' Court here today sentenced a 49-year-old habitual drug user to five years imprisonment and one stroke of the cane for abusing amphetamine and methamphetamine. Judge Saiful Bahari Adzmi handed down the sentence against Adnan Mohamad Sebli after he pleaded guilty to a charge under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act (DDA) 1952, punishable under Section 39C(1)(b) of the same Act. The section provides for a prison sentence of not less than five years and not more than seven years, along with up to three strokes of the cane, upon conviction. In delivering the sentence, Saiful also ordered Adnan to undergo supervision for two years after completing his custodial sentence. Adnan committed the offence at the Serian District Police Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department office at around 11.00pm on June 3, 2025. He has three previous convictions for the same offence framed under Section 15(1)(a) of the DDA 1952, in Dec 2017, March 2023 and April 2023. Deputy public prosecutor Ruvinasini Pandian appeared for the prosecution, while Adnan was unrepresented by legal counsel.

File photo for illustration purposes MIRI (Aug 5): A teenager pleaded not guilty in the Sessions' Court today to eight charges of raping two underage girls, who are also his biological sisters. The 19-year-old accused was charged under Section 376(3) of the Penal Code, which carries a prison sentence of not less than eight years and not more than 30 years, and a minimum of 10 strokes of the cane, upon conviction for each charge. According to the charge sheet, the accused was alleged to have committed incest with his two younger sisters, aged 13 and 15. All the offences were allegedly committed between March 2023 and June this year at the family's home here. After the accused entered his plea, Deputy Public Prosecutor Muhammad Asymawi Ghazali requested a new date for case management and urged the court to deny bail, citing that the accused lives in the same house as the victims. Sessions Court Judge Afidah Abdul Rahman allowed the request and set Sept 18 for case management. The accused, who was unrepresented, was ordered to remain in remand at Miri Central Prison pending the next hearing.

JOHOR BARU: Five individuals, including an underaged boy, were charged at the Sessions' Court here with human trafficking for the purpose of labour exploitation. Sham Chee Fei, 33; Kuek Pei Lin, 19; Lee Chun Kit, 28; Tommy Voo Tze Hau, 27; and a 17-year-old boy pleaded not guilty to the charge before Judge Thalha Bachok @ Embok Mok on Tuesday (July 15). According to the charge sheet, the five are accused of trafficking a 15-year-old girl and a 16-year-old boy, as well as a 26-year-old man, for the purpose of labour exploitation through deceptive means at a house along Jalan Lagenda 34, Taman Lagenda Putra in Kulai, between March 23 and May 23. They were charged under Section 14 of the Anti-Trafficking in Persons and Anti-Smuggling of Migrants (ATIPSOM) Act 2007, read together with Section 34 of the Penal Code, which carries a penalty of life imprisonment or a minimum of five years' jail and whipping upon conviction. They also face charges under Section 12 of the same Act, read together with Section 34 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum jail term of 20 years and a fine, upon conviction. At a different courtroom, Kuek, Voo and the underaged boy claimed trial to another two charges before Sessions Court Judge Nor Aziati Jaafar. They were accused of acting in furtherance of a common intention to produce child sexual abuse material involving the same two teenage victims, in the form of videos and images. The three accused were charged under Section 5 of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act (SOACA) 2017 read with Section 34 of the Penal Code, which provides for up to 30 years' imprisonment and no fewer than six strokes of the cane upon conviction. At the same courtroom, another individual believed to also be a syndicate member, Abdul Rahufur Rahim Idris, 30, pleaded not guilty to a charge of non-physical sexual assault by instructing the female teenage victim to perform sexual acts on the male teenage victim. He was charged under Section 15(f) of SOACA 2017, which carries a maximum penalty of 10 years' imprisonment, a fine of up to RM20,000, or both, upon conviction. Meanwhile, Lee also pleaded not guilty to a charge of possessing child sexual abuse material consisting of two images and two videos found on his mobile phone. The offence was allegedly committed at the same house at around 11.20am on June 20 and he was charged under Section 10 of SOACA 2017, which provides for up to five years' imprisonment, a fine of up to RM10,000, or both. Deputy Public Prosecutors Nur Diyana Zubir and Nur Farah Wahida Shahudin led the prosecution while the accused were represented by their respective lawyers. The courts allowed bail at RM15,000 for Sham, RM30,000 for Kuek, RM26,000 for Lee, RM35,000 for Voo, RM20,000 for the underaged boy and RM6,000 for Abdul Rahufur Rahim. All the accused were also ordered to comply with additional bail conditions, including a ban on contacting witnesses, reporting to the nearest police station monthly and surrendering their international passports to the court. Both courts set August 13, 14, and 19 as the next mention and for submission of documents.

Judge Saiful Bahari Adzmi handed down the sentence after the man pleaded guilty to a charge under Section 376B(1) of the Penal Code (PC), read together with Section 16 of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act (SOACA) 2017. Section 376B(1) of the PC provides for a prison term of not less than 10 years and not more than 30 years, along with whipping, upon conviction. Meanwhile, Section 16 of the SOACA provides for imprisonment not exceeding five years, along with a minimum of two strokes of whipping upon conviction. The offence was committed at house in Petra Jaya here at around 2am on April 4, 2025. According to case facts, the victim disclosed the incident to her mother some time later through a phone call, prompting the latter to lodge a police report that led to the accused's arrest on May 30, 2025. The accused is the mother's elder brother. A medical examination revealed old tears on the victim's hymen. Deputy public prosecutor Umi Syukriah Harun appeared for the prosecution, while the accused was unrepresented by legal counsel. For the record, the accused is currently serving a sentence for repeated drug abuse offences. incest jail lead whipping
