The fastest woman in the world just glided down the Met Gala red carpet.
Sha'carri Richardson topped the list of record-breaking athletes who attended the fashion event at the Metropolitan Museum of Art tonight—including several WNBA stars such as Angel Reese, and Olympic gymnast Simone Biles.
Richardson made her entrance in one of the most fun looks of the night: a strapless butter-yellow chiffon dress with knotted bands at the center, courtesy of Valentino by Alessandro Michele. The piece was layered over a lavender wisteria lace bodice in a floral pattern, also from the designer.
A large bow on the back formed the yellow dress' long tail, and the track and field sprinter made sure to add on plenty of accessories: bedazzled silver heart earrings, a faux-pearl bracelet with another dangling heart to match the earrings, and some chunky rings, all from Alex Moss. The look stayed true to Richardson's maximalist style.
As always, the runner put special attention on her glam. Her hair was adorned with yellow and white bows all over, and she wore a smoky lavender eyeshadow, pink blush and glitter on her cheeks, and super-glossy pink lip.
Her nails, however, took the cake. She wore a pointy, colorful, busy manicure that looked like yummy, sugary candy. Richardson even bit on it as she posed on the blue carpet.
This is not Richardson's first Met Gala, she also attended the event in 2021, when the theme was 'In America: A Lexicon of Fashion.' Then, she wore a motorcore-inspired strapless dress with a red leather bodice and a black leather skirt with cutouts and fringe.
In the years since, she's been far too busy winning trophies to walk many red carpets. In 2023, she broke several records, including the world championship record in the 100-meter dash. And in 2024, she won a silver medal at the Paris Olympics in the women's 100-meter final.
The athlete, who celebrated her first-ever beauty partnership with Olay ahead of the 2024 Summer Olympics, sat down with Harper's Bazaar to talk all things beauty. 'I feel like self-care is very important, especially as a woman, especially for Black women,' she said, adding of her partnership, 'It feels like a new journey in just discovering a different part of myself as an individual.'
She also spoke of her love of makeup. 'My nails, for sure,' Richardson said of her beauty priorities. 'And I definitely like to intensify my eyes, to make my eyes pop. And having a nice [lip] gloss.' That trifecta, she says, 'intensifies the confidence that I already have.'
