The fastest woman in the world just glided down the Met Gala red carpet.
Sha'carri Richardson topped the list of record-breaking athletes who attended the fashion event at the Metropolitan Museum of Art tonight—including several WNBA stars such as Angel Reese, and Olympic gymnast Simone Biles.
Richardson made her entrance in one of the most fun looks of the night: a strapless butter-yellow chiffon dress with knotted bands at the center, courtesy of Valentino by Alessandro Michele. The piece was layered over a lavender wisteria lace bodice in a floral pattern, also from the designer.
A large bow on the back formed the yellow dress' long tail, and the track and field sprinter made sure to add on plenty of accessories: bedazzled silver heart earrings, a faux-pearl bracelet with another dangling heart to match the earrings, and some chunky rings, all from Alex Moss. The look stayed true to Richardson's maximalist style.
As always, the runner put special attention on her glam. Her hair was adorned with yellow and white bows all over, and she wore a smoky lavender eyeshadow, pink blush and glitter on her cheeks, and super-glossy pink lip.
Her nails, however, took the cake. She wore a pointy, colorful, busy manicure that looked like yummy, sugary candy. Richardson even bit on it as she posed on the blue carpet.
This is not Richardson's first Met Gala, she also attended the event in 2021, when the theme was 'In America: A Lexicon of Fashion.' Then, she wore a motorcore-inspired strapless dress with a red leather bodice and a black leather skirt with cutouts and fringe.
In the years since, she's been far too busy winning trophies to walk many red carpets. In 2023, she broke several records, including the world championship record in the 100-meter dash. And in 2024, she won a silver medal at the Paris Olympics in the women's 100-meter final.
The athlete, who celebrated her first-ever beauty partnership with Olay ahead of the 2024 Summer Olympics, sat down with Harper's Bazaar to talk all things beauty. 'I feel like self-care is very important, especially as a woman, especially for Black women,' she said, adding of her partnership, 'It feels like a new journey in just discovering a different part of myself as an individual.'
She also spoke of her love of makeup. 'My nails, for sure,' Richardson said of her beauty priorities. 'And I definitely like to intensify my eyes, to make my eyes pop. And having a nice [lip] gloss.' That trifecta, she says, 'intensifies the confidence that I already have.'

Caitlin Clark Nearly Got Indiana Fever in Trouble for Unbelievable Reason

Caitlin Clark Nearly Got Indiana Fever in Trouble for Unbelievable Reason originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Few would argue that Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark is the most popular and marketable star in the WNBA right now. Advertisement Clark's fame has grown so much since the Fever drafted her No. 1 overall in 2024 that she's seemingly setting ratings records every time she steps on the court. The Fever's 93-58 season-opening win over the Chicago Sky on May 17 drew an average of 2.7 million viewers and peaked with 3.1 million viewers on ABC, making it the most-watched WNBA regular-season game on the network and overall in the last 25 years. Last season, Clark played in the most-watched regular-season game of the season (vs. the Sky on June 3, 3.3 million viewers), he most-viewed WNBA game on any ESPN platform (vs. the Connecticut Sun on May 20, 2.97 million viewers), and the most-watched WNBA All-Star Game ever (3.44 million viewers). But viewership wasn't the only area Clark dominated. Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark reacts to a call in the second half against the Washington Mystics at Entertainment & Sports Faith Morgan-Imagn Images The WNBA Rookie of the Year had the best-selling jersey in the WNBA and the second-highest selling jersey across professional basketball behind only Golden State Warriors star Steph Curry, according to Fanatics. Advertisement In fact the Fever sold so much Clark gear that the team store was actually looked into for its crazy Clark-related sales boom, according to Indiana-based journalist Travonne Edwards 'The quota has been reached in the team store to the point where they got audited,' Edwards said during an appearance on "The Right Time with Bomani Jones.' 'They sold so much [Caitlin Clark] gear that people thought it wasn't legit?' Jones asked. '…There's a shoe that's supposed to come out — a Kobe 5 with her colorway — it's on the internet for $5,000 right now. You know how you've been to the big school, like JJ Redick played for Duke, and he gets to Orlando and that motion don't follow — this followed.' Fortunately for the Fever, their bookkeeping was in order and the sales spike made sense once the final merchandise numbers were out. Advertisement Clark's home Fever jersey sold out less than an hour after being drafted last year, making her the highest-selling WNBA draft pick ever. Fanatics also reported that WNBA merchandise sales were up over 1,000% year-over-year thanks to Clark, Sky star Angel Reese, New York Liberty star Sabrina Ionescu, and Clark's Iowa teammate Kate Martin, who played her rookie season for the Las Vegas Aces and is currently with the expansion Golden State Valkyries. They ranked No. 1, 2, 3, and 4 in merchandise sales, respectively. Candace Parker Breaks Silence on Rumored Caitlin Clark Tension

Candace Parker Breaks Silence on Rumored Caitlin Clark Tension originally appeared on Athlon Sports. There's no question that Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark is the face of the WNBA. The league went out of its way to feature Clark and the Fever is as many primetime games that it could this season, and Clark's impact is undeniable when looking at ticket sales, merchandise sales, and television ratings. Advertisement And while Clark's presence in the league has been a topic of dissension for some current and past players, most notably six-time All-Star Sheryl Swoopes, recently retired three-time WNBA champion Candace Parker went out of her way to let everyone know she's not one of them. During a recent appearance on 'The Take,' Parker admitted to ESPN's Stephen A. Smith that despite what's been portrayed in the media (several reports have claimed retired players are resentful of the younger players for potentially earning more money than they did), she actually has zero problem with the reigning WNBA Rookie of the Year. Advertisement 'You know, it's so crazy to me because I'm asked so many times if I'm resentful in any type of way for where the WNBA is right now,' Parker stated. 'My job was to leave the game better than I came into it. 'You think Cheryl Miller is resentful for me that I had a league to play in? No, she's being the mentor that she is, and she's supporting and loving and sitting courtside cheering on JuJu Watkins. And I'm doing the same for Caitlin Clark and all the women in the WNBA.' Legendary Los Angeles Sparks star Candace Lee-Imagn Images The WNBA's 'changing of the guard' has been a front-and-center issue for months — really since Chicago Sky star Angel Reese boldly stated if the next collective bargaining agreement negotiations don't go the way the players want in terms of salary increases, there will be the threat of a lockout. Advertisement And while Clark has done nothing but bring more eyes to televisions and more people to seats in WNBA arenas, any drastic changes happening in the league are being attributed to her. Fan Sends Strong Message After Caitlin Clark Makes Daughter Cry

Fan Sends Strong Message After Caitlin Clark Makes Daughter Cry originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark picked up where she left off after her Rookie of the Year season, starting the new WNBA season by averaging 19.0 points, 6.0 rebounds and 9.3 assists through four games. Advertisement However, she suffered a left quadriceps strain during the fourth game, sidelining her for at least two weeks. The 23-year-old has already missed three games but provided an update on her status Thursday. 'I've made a lot of progress and I feel good, but I'm not going to rush my way back if it's not worth it," Clark said. In the meantime, Clark has been sitting next to head coach Stephanie White during games, soaking in what she can. Her pregame routine while she has been out hasn't changed, though — she still makes her rounds before warm-ups, signing autographs and taking photos with fans. In the post, she added a long message, sharing that her daughter, Chandler, was brought to "literal tears" after an autograph and picture from Clark. "What a Trip! This trip exceeded everything we had hoped for dove into all things @indianafever to get the FULL experience. Chandler got to see all the players warm up, got waves, pictures with her favorites, and autographs! We even got to shoot a shot on the court! An autograph AND picture with Caitlin brought Chandler to literal tears!!! Truly an unbelievable experience and we are so blessed to have been able take Chandler on this trip and make memories we will remember forever! 🏀 ❤️💙💛 Go @indianafever! We are rooting for yall to make it all the way!!" Advertisement Note: Swipe to the second photo to see Chandler crying. Clark was once a "young girl" and understands how impactful she can be for fans. She has spoken about why she signs autographs and takes photos. "I was that young girl at one point in my life, and I'm only 23 years old, so it feels like it was just a short time ago," Clark said. "So I can definitely empathize for what they're feeling and what they're going through, but also a lot of people spend a lot of time and money and resources to be able to have an opportunity to come watch this team play or come watch me play. "I certainly understand that, and I try to make as much time as I can to sign an autograph because that can really impact somebody's life," Clark added. "Who knows? Maybe they're going to put that up in their room and look at it every single day and have something to dream about."
