There's no question that Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark is the face of the WNBA.
The league went out of its way to feature Clark and the Fever is as many primetime games that it could this season, and Clark's impact is undeniable when looking at ticket sales, merchandise sales, and television ratings.

And while Clark's presence in the league has been a topic of dissension for some current and past players, most notably six-time All-Star Sheryl Swoopes, recently retired three-time WNBA champion Candace Parker went out of her way to let everyone know she's not one of them.
During a recent appearance on 'The Take,' Parker admitted to ESPN's Stephen A. Smith that despite what's been portrayed in the media (several reports have claimed retired players are resentful of the younger players for potentially earning more money than they did), she actually has zero problem with the reigning WNBA Rookie of the Year.

In fact, Parker went on record stating she's a fan of what Clark is doing a season and some change into her WNBA career.

'You know, it's so crazy to me because I'm asked so many times if I'm resentful in any type of way for where the WNBA is right now,' Parker stated. 'My job was to leave the game better than I came into it.
'You think Cheryl Miller is resentful for me that I had a league to play in? No, she's being the mentor that she is, and she's supporting and loving and sitting courtside cheering on JuJu Watkins. And I'm doing the same for Caitlin Clark and all the women in the WNBA.'

The WNBA's 'changing of the guard' has been a front-and-center issue for months — really since Chicago Sky star Angel Reese boldly stated if the next collective bargaining agreement negotiations don't go the way the players want in terms of salary increases, there will be the threat of a lockout.

And while Clark has done nothing but bring more eyes to televisions and more people to seats in WNBA arenas, any drastic changes happening in the league are being attributed to her.

Lindy's College Football preview magazine ranks Notre Dame football inside its top-10

Notre Dame will be favored in every one of its games this upcoming football season according to DraftKings Sportsbook, but one publication does not have the Fighting Irish in its College Football Playoff projections. Following a season in which the Irish set a program record for wins on their way to the national championship game, Lindy's Sports released its preseason college football preview magazine and ranked the Irish No. 6 nationally. Certainly a solid ranking, and the same spot Athlon Sports slotted the Irish in its preseason magazine, but Lindy's has Ohio State, LSU, Oregon, Alabama, Georgia, Miami and SMU earning at-large CFP bids and not Notre Dame. Advertisement From the magazine: "We'll know early if Notre Dame's playoff expectation is warranted when the Irish play Miami, Texas A&M and Arkansas in the first four weeks. With only six players drafted, Notre Dame returns the wealth of a squad that was a few plays away from winning it all." - Lindy's Sports The Notre Dame defensive line and linebacker corps failed to make the Top 10 in Lindy's unit rankings, which is quite debatable. The magazine is also concerned about the quarterback situation, where either redshirt freshman CJ Carr or redshirt sophomore Kenny Minchey will be taking the first snap in the season opener at Miami Labor Day weekend. Despite the playoff snub from Lindy's, though, it's clear that national college football observers are bullish on the Irish to remain a national contender in 2025 and beyond. PRP treatment gives Yankees pitcher hope for early return

PRP treatment gives Yankees pitcher hope for early return originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Yankees closer Luke Weaver is showing encouraging signs early in his recovery from a left hamstring strain. Advertisement After receiving a PRP injection this week, Weaver resumed throwing Thursday and again before Friday's series opener against the Red Sox. 'He's moving around in the early stages,' manager Aaron Boone said. 'He's expressed optimism considering the injury and the timeline — hopefully he beats it.' Yankees closer Luke Weaver will be placed on the IL after suffering a hamstring Kamin-Oncea-Imagn Images Weaver felt something in his hamstring when he went to warm up on Sunday night in Los Angeles. He was diagnosed with a hamstring strain before Tuesday's game, when he was officially placed on the injured list. Hamstring injuries are notoriously tricky, and the news that he received a PRP, or platelet-rich plasma injection, indicates it was a pretty serious strain. Advertisement The loss of Weaver is a blow to the Yankees. Boone had only recently stabilized the bullpen by putting Weaver in the closer role. The beginning of the season had been a hair-raising rollercoaster ride with Devin Williams closing games. Now, the Yankees will have to rely on Williams, even though he has yet to earn back that trust. In 24 appearances, Weaver boasts a 1.05 ERA and a 0.70 WHIP, with 24 strikeouts over 25⅔ innings. His dominance is reflected in his .148 opponent batting average and a 2.08 hits per nine innings rate. Weaver has converted 8 of 9 save opportunities. Originally expected to miss four to six weeks per ESPN's Jeff Passan, Weaver told the team he's hopeful to return in as little as 15 days. Boone was highly skeptical of that. Insider reveals Yankees might trade Devin Williams midseason

Insider reveals Yankees might trade Devin Williams midseason originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Trading Devin Williams at the July deadline might sound like a head-scratcher—after all, the Yankees just signed the two-time All-Star this offseason. But let's not pretend this reunion has been smooth sailing. Advertisement Williams has never really settled in with the Yankees. Remember the spring training drama over his facial hair? Yeah, that wasn't exactly a confidence builder. Then he came out of the gate like a deer in headlights. His 10.00 ERA over his first 10 appearances cost him the closer's job before we even flipped the calendar to May. New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone takes the ball from relief pitcher Devin Williams during the ninth inning against the Toronto Blue Jays at Yankee Penner-Imagn Images To his credit, Williams has cleaned things up a bit lately, posting a respectable 2.45 ERA across 12 appearances last month. But here's the kicker: he's a free agent after the season and, honestly, doesn't seem like a fit for the Yankees' future plans. With Luke Weaver waiting in the wings to reclaim the closer role once he's off the IL, Williams' days as New York's go-to shut-down guy look numbered. Advertisement So why hold onto a reliever who's clearly not comfortable in pinstripes and probably won't be back next year? So Mark Feinsand suggests the Yankees kick the tires on a trade come July, snag some value, and avoid the painful 'watch him walk for nothing' scenario. It's not like Yankees fans would be upset. Trading Williams midseason feels like throwing in the towel early. But maybe the Yankees have finally learned that it's better to admit a mistake early than to watch a player continue to struggle in New York. Remember Joey Gallo? Sonny Gray? Williams certainly has time to rebuild his reputation with Weaver on the injured list. He's the closer, for now, and he can help his own cause since he is hitting free agency this fall. The Yankees can help theirs by admitting he's just not the right fit.
