Dubai, Abu Dhabi to host T20 Asia Cup matches

Dubai and Abu Dhabi will be the host cities for the men's Twenty20 Asia Cup, the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) said, with arch-rivals India and Pakistan to meet in Dubai on September 14. The tournament in the United Arab Emirates, scheduled to run from September 9 to 28, will feature eight teams — two more than the last edition — with 11 matches in Dubai and eight in Abu Dhabi. Abu Dhabi will host the opener between Afghanistan and Hong Kong, while the final will be held in Dubai. 'Hosting it in the UAE allows us to bring the excitement to one of the most vibrant cricketing hubs in the world,' ACC President Mohsin Naqvi said in a media release on Saturday. Shaheens' camp starts today; departure to Australia on 8th 'Dubai and Abu Dhabi are well equipped to deliver a seamless and world class experience for players, fans, and broadcasters alike.' Group A includes defending champions India, Pakistan, UAE and Oman, while Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan and Hong Kong are in Group B.

Sajid Khan ruled out of England tour

LAHORE: Test off-spinner Sajid Khan has been ruled out of the Shaheens' tour of England after suffering a fracture to his right thumb during a training session at the Tonbridge School Ground in Kent. Pakistan Shaheens are set to take on the Professional County Club Select XI in the opening match of the three one-day matches, scheduled at the Kent County Cricket Ground in Beckenham. A PCB spokesman said that Sajid will return to Pakistan on the first available flight and will undergo further treatment at the National Cricket Academy in Lahore. With a week to go until the first ball is bowled in the ICC Men's Champions Trophy 2025, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has revealed the lineup of Event Ambassadors that will feature to add to the fan experience. Pakistan's 2017 winning captain Sarfaraz Ahmed features in an all-star cast that also boasts two-time champion, Australia's Shane Watson, Player of the Series in India's 2013 trophy-winning campaign, Shikhar Dhawan, and New Zealand's legendary fast bowler, Tim Southee. With a wealth of experience in the Champions Trophy, over the course of the coming weeks, the lineup will provide fans with unrivalled insights into the competition through guest columns and match attendance, sharing their thoughts on what promises to be a thrilling event, where the world's best eight teams will compete for the iconic white jackets. Sarfaraz Ahmed: "I will never forget how special it felt to don the white jackets and lift the trophy aloft as Pakistan captain back in 2017. Shaheens' squads named for CT warm-up matches The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has named the three Shaheens squads that will feature in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 warm-up matches in the build-up to the main event, which will take place from 19 February to 9 March. For the 14 February match against Afghanistan at Gaddafi Stadium, Pakistan Shaheens will be captained by Shadab Khan, with Mansoor Amjad serving as coach-cum-manager. Meanwhile, for the 17 February match against South Africa at National Stadium, Mohammad Hurraira will lead the side, with Ijaz Ahmed Junior as coach-cum-manager. On the same day (17 February) in Dubai, Pakistan Shaheens will face Bangladesh, with Mohammad Haris as captain and Umar Gul as coach-cum-manager.
